The striker dilemma - Who is Portugal's 08 striker?
the striker dilemma. Will Portugal ever develop another dominant striker, like Eusébio, to take them to a major title?
I have my doubts of Nuno Gomes. I dont know why but i just cant get myself to trust him. Do you think Nuno Gomes can get it done like euro 2000?
So I ask you... who will Scolari go with when it really matters... the Euro cup. AND
Who would YOU like Portugal to go with?
Nuno Gomes
Pauleta
Helder Postiga
Hugo Almeida
A winger (1 of Simao/Ronaldo/Quaresma)
Ricardo Vaz Te
Yannick D'jaloa
Luis Boa Morte
Silvestre Varela
Liedson

Good Question -- I really can't say who will contribute in that role but I do believe Hugo Almeida is the man for that job. If Scolari was smart, he would play him against the waffles. He has the sixe, strength and is playing well over in Germany which means he's in form.
I've watched the Under 21 NT and Varela has impressed me but he usuallys plays in the wings, he is a better player. As for Vazzie, I like his swagger but he has a tendecy to disappears in numbers when he is not involved in a play -- That concerns me.
For the future, I will predict Djalo being our main threat in that spot. This kid is really fast, quick feet and amazing shot. He is an impressive player if he gets to plays.

Who's that?
If your talking about Djalo, your mistaken. He has loads of confidence Just needs to find the target now and then. He is really fast, Quick passed and knows how to beat a defender.

Raviola and Cheese????
Nah, Haven't see him play to make a fair judgement. All I can say is Djalo represents all the qualities of a Good Striker -- Fast, Increidlbe pedalas and a Good shot. Vazzie is an exact replica but doesn't carry the pace at times and disappears without a trace. It almost seems like he runs to the washroom and when he gets back -- he scores.

Almeida for me. I'm hoping the German league will groom him in to a great striker. I'm sure Klose is giving him some pointers.
Djalo has great potential but I perfer a big powerful striker espcecially because we play a 4-5-1

It will be between Almeida and Postiga.
If Postiga can find his form again and keep it, he could be our new Pauleta. Hugo Almeida needs to work on his shooting and technique, but he is a great option

Im suprised nobody has chosen Nuno Gomes. He is probably our best striker available . I agree Almeida and Postiga are playing well and the young guns will be good some day.
I dont know if Portugal will have anything better than a 31 year old Nuno Gomes next summer. And even if we did... do you rally think Scolari would choose him over the old horses lol?

He is an old fart who is past his prime. If your talking about a dream team scenario, He would be last on my list.
As for Portugal, Hugo 'The Danger Man" Almeida is our only hope for a solid striker. The man is a beast. If he shows his abilties like he is showing with Werder Bremen, Maybe he can be an early bloomer Just what we need from the kid.
