if you read the article it says that he came to Madail after the lost with Gambia and ask to be the coach
but it was basically what Agostinho Oliveira want to do year ago, go over Scolari, but remember that Scolari was the one the give the ok to hired Couceiro , don't be surprise if they fired Couceiro and Paulo Sousa
now that the news is out

Paulo Sousa “exigiu” a Gilberto Madaíl que lhe fosse entregue o comando das selecções nacionais de Esperanças (Sub-21 e Sub-20) horas depois de Portugal ter perdido com a Gâmbia no recente Campeonato do Mundo de Sub-20, no Canadá. O encontro, não agendado, entre o presidente da Federação Portuguesa de Futebol (FPF) e o treinador da Selecção de Sub-16, foi tenso e acabou com um “não” de Madaíl à pretensão de Paulo Sousa, mas rapidamente passou a ser do conhecimento interno da FPF e causou enormes tensões entre dirigentes e treinadores.
Esta iniciativa de Paulo Sousa vem no seguimento de uma outra tomada não há muito tempo quando, passando por cima do coordenador do futebol jovem, Agostinho Oliveira, procurou apresentar à direcção da FPF uma proposta de “reformulação” do sector. Também essa proposta foi recusada pelos dirigentes federativos, que estão a analisar, como é lógico, o trabalho apresentado pelo próprio Agostinho Oliveira.
Estas duas atitudes de Paulo Sousa acentuam as facções dentro da estrutura técnica da FPF e podem ser interpretadas como um teste à autoridade de Gilberto Madaíl, enquanto presidente, e Luiz Felipe Scolari, enquanto seleccionador nacional, às ordens de quem trabalham os técnicos dos Sub-21 e Sub-20.
Currículo curto
Paulo Sousa está ao serviço da FPF como treinador dos Sub-16 desde Outubro de 2005. Sob o seu comando, a equipa disputou 21 jogos, tendo vencido 5, empatado 9 e perdido 7. Nos últimos 10 jogos conseguiu apenas uma vitória e é este ainda modesto currículo como treinador que é pesado pelos seus críticos internos.
Para além dos Sub-16, Paulo Sousa tem trabalhado como assessor de Madaíl e já colaborou com Scolari antes e durante o Mundial’2006, mas os seus serviços foram dispensados pelo seleccionador nacional.

The ref was on drugs. A complete fix and you can tell the Chileans were pissed. The 1st half was inbarable to watch cause they kept diving.
