Nortel, Your right about that. Gama's loss affected the team's performance.

Btw, it was a scorcher out there, really hot. I would've oved more effort but hey these kids wanted to entertain.

Also, What I can't stand is players faking injuries and wasting time, Something Portugal didn't do this tourney which I was surprised. And why is Couceiro coaching both the U20 & U21????

Do we have a coaching crisis?

Federation apologizes for the players behaviour.

That was fast... Must have had it already done - a template for such actions.
Put in Chile - put in Edmonton... :-(
The Federation had some great and entertaining players that where left home..They should have play this team in the Euro's and brought the more experience squad to the Under-20 World Cup..When I bought my tickets to watch the Gambia match in Montreal I thought I was going to watch the likes of Nani. Moutinho, Veloso, Yannick, and Vaz Te...The Federation did a real disservice to all the North American Portuguese Community by not bringing its best squad...The players are young, but the truth most of these guys are not National team quality and their emotions shown...

Antunes & Pele were mature, They were our stars. The others were too selfish and only relied in entertaining the fans rather then winning.

The majority of the games were 0-0, So I am discrediting them for not trying hard enough.

And this is where you see the class of players that you have - they stepup in moments like this. Couceiro's job is to lead the team and pick his representative on the field. Which is why I can never understand how you make a goalie a captain - he's confined to a box.

As to the heat - 38 degrees Celcius on the field for Portugal - but Chile was playing in 21 degree Celcius under an overcast sky (tongue in cheek comment).

Yes we have a coaching crisis. There are so many coaches in Portugal - yet we can't find one to work with our youth. Sad statement to say about our National Futebol program. Sporting has continuously developed great youth soccer players - so why not get one of their trainers and move them into that position.
Oh wait that is too logical - and because of that we'll keep dissapointing in the youth Euros and in the youth WCs.

Considering that this was like our 2nd team we still held our own and should have won all three of matches...Gama injury really hurt our team and I must blame everything on the coach..He rested 6 of our starters against Gambia, but left Gama in the starting lineup which led to him breaking his ankle...

Actually this is really ridiculous when you have three major tournaments going on within a 2 month span. FIFA and UEFA should have their heads examined.
-Sub 21 - Euro and Olympic qualifying.
-Sub 20 - World Cup
-Sub 19 - Euro

Cash grab at it's best.

-Copa America
-Gold Cup
-Asian Cup

The bottom line is that I'm more concern that we win the big one...The juniors where great back in the late 80's and early 90's, but our senior teams never won anything...Though this team played miserable they are a few players that will help our national team down the road..Antunes, Pele, Gama, and Fabio have a real future ...

Well we went to the games in Toronto - 14 of us.
In the Mexico game - we actually got on the big screen and were televisied.
Even tough we lost - we had fun and sang all the way to the train/bus station.
We were pretty proud to be Portuguese.

I had a great time in Montreal and was really proud how all the Portugese fans behave during and after the game..Real class and it made me proud to be Portuguese-American..My son was really into the game and actually started an Ole, Ole Chant..He kept screaming Ole, Ole which led a bunch of people around us to start singing Ole...
