LEAGUE NOTES:U-19 National Team coach Carlos Dinis does not know if he will coach Portugal next year at the World Youth Cup...Portugal's qualification to the World Youth Cup is their first since 1999 in Nigeria. They missed out on the last three tournaments, which take place every two years

My views about the U-19's NT game against Spain.
The coach wasn't up to the job. I really hope that FPF goes forward with their intention to change their technicall staff, because we do need people that really know all about youth football AND tactical knowlege.
To start a "must win" game with 3(!!!) center-miedfielders (Feliciano+Zezinando+Pereirinha), none with skills to play behind the striker, was a stupid invitation the spanish to take over the miedfield. Furthermore, leaving Nuno Coelho out of those 3 (along with Feliciano the miedfield player with better technicall skills...and along to all media one of the best players in the previous games) as simply asking for trouble.
This team to have a decent performance in Canada MUST find a decent striker...and another offensive miedfielder (Caiado hasn't impressed me). We lack someone to finnish Gama's and Barbosa's plays, and we lack a winger or a nº10 (Gama can either play as nº10 or in the wing) to complete the miedfield trio with the FC Porto's players.
About the game (1 - 10):
Araújo (Gk): 7 - Good goalkeeper. Made some good saves but tends to some show off. Rather short (at least i had that impression) but feline reflexes.
Mano (RB): 7 - Had one hell of an afternoon against Capel (one of Spain's most dangerous players). Even so, he has shown determination and some good football skills. He has speed, wich a determinant factor for the modern lateral defender.
A. Marques (LB): 3 - Yes he is tall, yes he is a SCP player...but he hasn't got what is needed (see above). It was painfull to see what Toni could do over him. Thank God Antunes replaced him!
Renato (CB): 4 - Too soft, too slow...too naive. He is a better player than he has shown.
J. Pedro (CB): 6 - I like him. I believe he is one of Portugal's best prospects for the position. Needs to work the agressive side of his play. Needs to aproach the tackles and the "one on one" situations with more authority. All this without the risk of transforming himself in one Hélder Cristóvão, Fernando Couto or Litos.
Zezinando (MC): 3 - I never understood what people saw in him. For me, he is a younger version (NOT upgraded) of Oceano. Zero passing skills, Zero posicional skills (at least Oceano had some), Zero technicall abilities.......alot of brut force...nothing more!
Pereirinha (MC): 4 - Just like Renato: too soft, too slow...too naive. Needs to improve the confidance in his skills, and has to translocate some muscular power from Zezinando.
Feliciano (MC): 7 - Not a marvelous player. The only one of the MC trio that tried to support the striker. Has what Zezinando has plus all the rest that the SCP's player lacks (not in overwheling doses...but still enough to make of him a good all around player).
H. Barbosa (AMR/AML): 6 - In and out of the game. He is a carbon copy of Quaresma in his earlier days of pro football. We all know that he can win a game at any given time...but tends snooze in some parts of the game and has an irritating tendecy to make some (very) wrong decisions. Just like Quaresma! Even so, one of the best last afternoon.
B. Gama (AMR/AML): 8 - Great player, great attitude....I hope they send a DVD to Adriaanse.
D. Tavares (St): 4 - Another portuguese striker who can't hold on to the ball. Paulo Ferreira is not the solution...but it seems that neither is he. Obviously, the lack of a nº10 in the team didn't help much.
Antunes (LB): 6 - Toni isn't a easy player to mark...and with 50 minutes of toying with Marques, his confidance was even higher. Even so, he has done well enough...and did try to offer some help to left-winger (did Marques passed the miedfield line? Don't think so!).
Caiado (AM): 5 - The solutions in the bench for Tavares weren't nothing special. So the coach tryed to pull one "ala Scolari": to take the "Pauleta" of the U-19s out and put a "Simão". Sadly for us, none of our wingers are a "Cristiano Ronaldo" in terms of physicall presence in the box. Caiado drown in the tacticall mess created by the coach. And he hasn't convinced me yet. I'm seen this kid play 4-5 times...and I still haven't found anything of notice. The problem may be mine.
N Coelho (MC): 5 - The obvious solution was the last one made by the coach. How many balls did Zezinando give away? I've lost count! His enterance was too late, IMO. He forms with Feliciano the duo of DMC/MC that this NT needs.
So, my team for Canada:
Gk - Araújo
RB - Mano
LB - Antunes
CB - Marques
CB - J. Pedro
MC - N. Coelho
MC - Feliciano
AMR - Gama/Caiado/(or another winger)
AML - H. Barbosa
Nº10 - Gama/(or another player)
St - (we need someone capable!)

I like to see the team improve with each month, and peak next year at this time, without a few exceptions the majority of the kids on this team are unknow, and what happen to Paim?

I wouldn't bother a thing if he went away. In fact, FPF needs to reform their staff.
