From what I know, Barbosa has had some injury problems that unable him to be as fit as Machado wants. Also, from what I've heard, Machado seated Barbosa...to humble him. His start at Académica was tremendous...and all of the sudden the ex-FC Porto B player was the star of the team, plus his great performances in the U-21 Nt.
Machado is a smart fox, and he knows this is what "turns the kid's heads"...all this press glorification, claiming him as the "next-Futre".
