Quaresma's kick with his heel was stupid. Simple as that.

I wanted Scolari to give him a chance, he had his chance and he showed why he doesn't start for Portugal. He obviously wasn't listening to Scolari's orders, lost the ball too many times, was too fancy and looked lost at times.

His attitude stinks, but I will acknowledge that Scolari has something against him, but it might be for a reason.

I'm allowed to change my opinion on someone after seeing them play.

It was uncalled for perhaps, but worse things happened yesterday. Ie, Gelson stomping Nani's foot on the first minute of the match.

He isn't used to playing for Portugal, Scolari rarely gives him a go and when he does, it's on meaningless matches like this or friendlies where we field only reserves. And in those matches, the team is pretty disfunctional, the midfield doesn't link-up well with the attack, because the players aren't used to playing with each other, therefore have no routines.

Quaresma never plays with the starters, that's a fact. The only time he started a match with all the other great players, he was the man of the match for Portugal. (against Italy). That is also a fact.

Scolari never gave Quaresma any credit, the fact that Boa Morte was called up to the World Cup instead of Quaresma proved it.
And even though he was the best player in league for 3 consecutive seasons, Scolari prefers to start an out-form Simão.

Quaresma may not have the best of attitudes, I admit that, but he is one of those players that must feel loved by his teammates, fans and coaching staff, which doesn't happen while he is playing for Portugal. Scolari doesn't like Quaresma, simple as that.

You change your opinion based on one match. Now that's stupid.

The game started out with Veloso looking lively and wanting the ball, I thought he was going to enjoy himself out there but I am not sure what happened, he lost it looked like he didn't care after either. Meirelles and Meira I didn't expect more from. Nani didn't play that well, but you could really tell he was trying to get a spot on the 11, or atleast gaurantee himself as first option for Simao off the bench, I think he has suceeded in this. Quaresma was hot and cold, like he typically is (can someone brainwash this guy or something, he has the ability to be absolutely unstopable but his decision making and lack of determination sometimes is sickening) Miguel is past it or has given up knowing he can't get a spot ahead Boswinga. Pepe is a rock. Alves is a liability. Ribeiro is not NT material. Ricardo was Ricardo, scary at crosses but that is all we got. Postiga, had that goal counted I think we may have seen a completely different game and a confident Postiga, could have been real different. I probably would have used Deco instead of Moutinho, but that is not that important anyway. I was upset during the game I figured the fringe guys like Veloso, Miguel, Quaresma and Nani would have done better, trying to put some doubts in Scolari's mind but they really didn't. I questioned Scolari's line up but he has most definitely gotten it right, he has the right group of players starting that is for sure.

With all that, I am just glad we are in the quarters and we gave some much needed rest to Ronaldo and a couple others who had long seasons.

Portugal ratings 1 to 5

24horas

lance do primeiro golo.
Portugal no jogo.
JOÃO MOUTINHO (3) – Entrou
e a Suíça marcou. Mas mostrou
porque é imprescindível
para Scolari.
HUGO ALMEIDA
(2) – Fez barulho na
área contrá

Austria gave them all they could handle. I'm not impressed by the Germans, we'll see which German team shows up.
