Muitas novidades na convocatória dos Sub-21

São muitas as novidades na convocatória da Selecção portuguesa de futebol sub-21 dirigida por Agostinho Oliveira.

Para os encontros com a Letónia e a Estónia foram chamados hoje vinte jogadores, a saber:

José Castro (Académica), Valdir (Ovarense), Organista (Santa Clara), Daniel (Marco), Bruno Vale, Cristóvão, Pedro Ribeiro, Raul Meireles e Ricardo Quaresma (FC Porto), Eliseu e Lourenço (Belenenses), Amoreirinha, João Pereira e Manuel Fernandes (Benfica), Custódio, Danny, Miguel Garcia e Paulo Sérgio (Sporting), Laranjeiro (U. Leiria) e Paulo Ribeiro (V. Setúbal).

Hugo Viana (Sporting), suspenso por dois jogos pela FIFA pelo cartão vermelho recebido no encontro com a Costa Rica, no Torneio Olímpico, ficou de fora da convocatória.

no way... don´t got the numbers right here, but joao pinto and rui costa didn´t score more than pauleta. figo maybe but only 1 or 2

anyway, for players still in action for the national team, pauleta is for sure the best scorer


and scolari said he didn´t call couto because he was injured

O seleccionador nacional Agostinho Oliveira garante que "não há ligação" entre a Selecção Olímpica, que rubricou uma prestação de má memória em Atenas, e equipa que se prepara para disputar o apuramento para o Europeu. "Esta é outra equipa. É um grupo que vai iniciar a sua formação e isso é sempre um complemento que nos vai dizer o futuro. Se é mais forte, não sei. Mas sei que, desafio a desafio, vai ter-se a noção do que pode ou não valer", explica Agostinho Oliveira.

De facto, como se não bastasse o facto de a equipa técnica ter sido renovada, a convocatória do substituto de José Romão é paradigmática na dissidência em relação ao conjunto que esteve em Atenas: apenas quatro atletas olímpicos voltaram a ser chamados para os trabalhos desta equipa (Danny, Bruno Vale, Lourenço e Raul Meireles).

Agostinho Oliveira entende que o que se passou na Grécia tem de ser deixado para trás: "O que se passou em Atenas foi um momento. Muitas vezes a expressão da indisciplina passa necessariamente pelo momento anímico e pela estabilidade emocional em que os jogadores se encontram. Não vou estar a criar fantasmas do que se passou que possam interferir no que vai acontecer naturalmente."

Técnico defende promoções

Agostinho Oliveira entende que a promoção de jogadores Sub-21 à selecção principal é salutar e necessária para o crescimento das selecções.

"O Cristiano Ronaldo e o Hugo Viana são jogadores da Selecção A, já não são da Selecção de Esperanças. Também a chamada do Hugo Almeida à Selecção A é uma decisão com a qual eu concordo totalmente", diz o técnico, que defende esta tendência:

"Quanto aos que, de futuro, poderão integrar a Selecção A, só me vão causar satisfação. Isto porque, apesar da fragilização deste grupo, temos a vantagem de alcançar um procedimento interno com objectivos diferentes."
