Default Sahar joins Pompey!

Great young prospect, glad to see him in EPL , hoopefully replace Nugent for you.

Great player , of the likes of Benzema type. Saved Sheff wednesday from relegation last year, knows where the net is.

NEC: Sahar will join Pompey
Quote:
NEC Nijmegen claim Chelsea's teenage Israel international striker Ben Sahar will be joining Portsmouth on loan next season.

Dutch club NEC had been hoping to recruit the 18-year-old after agreeing a deal with Chelsea earlier this month.

However, NEC have now revealed that Sahar will not be heading to the Eredivisie, and instead say he will be linking up with FA Cup winners Portsmouth.

"We had been busy with Sahar for two months," NEC technical director Carlos Aalbers told the club's official website.

"At one moment, it seemed so good that he would be here.

"The boy had given a good feeling to NEC, but eventually we became entangled in all kinds of rules.

"It has been a financially impossible case and we have had to draw a line under it."

Sahar has made five substitute appearances during his Chelsea career and spent spells on loan at Queens Park Rangers and Sheffield Wednesday last season.

It's been done Sky Sports | Football | Premier League | Chelsea | Sahar makes Pompey switch

^ tho I didn't watch him in the championship last season the stats say that he didn't seem to do that well. For QPR he played 9 games and didn't score a goal and for Sheffield Wednesday he played 12 and scored 3 and 1 assist.

Portsmouth have signed Ben Sahar from Chelsea on a six-month loan deal.

The 18-year-old Israel striker has made three appearances for Chelsea's first team and had spells on loan at QPR and Sheffield Wednesday last season.

Sahar, who joined Chelsea from Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2006, is set to taste Uefa Cup football with Pompey this season.

"Portsmouth are a great team who can win trophies. They are now in Europe and that will be a big challenge as well," Sahar told the club's website.

Dutch side NEC Nijmegen were among the clubs hoping to sign Sahar on loan.

But a spell with the FA Cup winners will enable Chelsea to keep a closer eye on his progress and Sahar will challenge Jermain Defoe, David Nugent and Kanu for a place in Pompey boss Harry Redknapp's attack.

Sahar added: "I'm ready for the challenge of being part of such a big club like Portsmouth. I want to be part of it and to show that I deserve to be here.

"I've heard a lot of good things about Harry Redknapp, the club and the staff and they obviously had a very good season."

all his QPR appearences were subs, only got one/two starts the italain didn't know how to use him.

Brain law had same approach use him as a sub, with only 4 starts.

All his goals where match winners, they were very Ben Sahar like, from what I saw in reserves and Isreal National team.

He's very much like Bezema... great addintion to Portsmouth. he's better then Nugent.
