Say you were alerting fans to a rare top English talent that most fans have never seen and probably never heard of, and you were trying to give a picture of the player to them: would it be so terrible to mention he was black, in your description?

Not it isn´t. It become a problem when Andy Villa asks what has his skin colour has anything to do with his talent and you reply with ´Quite a bit.´

Look, it depends in what context your saying it. So unfortunately, there is a gray area, as much as you don't want there to be.

You can´t go around saying that thecolor of his skin has anything to do with it. And if you had said he was black and left it at that, it wouldn´t have been a big problem

Why what's disturbing you? The Welbeck thread has already been locked because a few knuckleheads were obsessing about me mentioning he was black. And for some strange reason totally ignoring what the thread was all about i.e United finally producing a future England star.

What he actually said (in his complaint about me mentioning his colour - he didn't mention ANYTHING by the way about his talent, he was just fixating on his colour) was "What's his colour got to do with anything".

As I've already said I was trying to describe him and mentioning he was black in the description as it added a bit of er, colour to the picture I was trying to paint in ones minds eye. As black players so often can be different from white players in their movement and style.

Well some knuckleheads did have a problem with it from the word go. They couldn't take in anything else from the opening post.

I don't see the need to mention a players race, colour or anything else. If a player is good enough, then it doesn't matter what colour they are.

By "context" you mean a few knuckle-heads who have been battered in debates and all they have left is the race card.

You might have an argument (however flimsy) if I hadn't bigged up Welbeck. Let's say I'd said Welbeck is shit, he'll never make a player as long as he's got a hole in his arse, and if that wasn't bad enough, he's black. And we don't want blacks playing for England.

But of course I didn't.
