Atalanta seem to be in poll position with a 5 million bid for his co ownership
But Cigarini is taking his time and claims he never asked to be sold this season nor did he last season and would be happy to play for Parma in B... he is a local boy first and foremost and for him moving away from Parma is a massive decision to make....

Cigarini ponders Parma stay
Monday 7 July, 2008
In-demand Parma starlet Luca Cigarini is being tipped for an Atalanta move, but he insists that he could stay with the Ducali into Serie B.
Cigarini will be on show at this summer’s Olympic Games in China and is seen as a star of the future.
Having been linked with Juventus, the 22-year-old is now expected to join Atalanta in a co-ownership deal, but he isn’t desperate to evacuate the Stadio Tardini.
“I haven’t decided my future yet,” Cigarini explained to La Gazzetta di Parma.
“I need to think hard about this and talk to the people who are closest to me and it will take a few days to work out what I’m going to do.
“Also, I would like to make it clear that I have never said that I want to leave Parma.
“I didn’t say it when we were in Serie A and I haven’t said it since we went down.
“To be honest, I don’t know where these things come from because I will think 1001 times before I leave, even in a co-ownership deal.
“It’s not because Atalanta aren’t a big enough side – it’s just that I’ve been here for so many years and I am very tied to this team and this city.
“Serie B is no problem at all for me, so I am left with a tough decision.”
Former Azzurri striker Cristiano Lucarelli has already pledged to stay with the Emilia-Romagna outfit into the Second Division.

If Juventus come knocking, he'll go.

Why are you so sure about that for Juventus in particular?
The fact that Atalanta are in the front running shows that either Juventus or Cigarini must not be interested... he is a Parma local after all and they don't take too kindly to Juventus round those parts

If Atalanta are in pole position with a €5m bid, that's a pretty clear indication Juve are not seriously interested. So much for €18m, lol.

It's a co ownership deal so you obviously won't get anywhere near €18 million
The deal is pretty much done, I'm vaguely pleased about this seeing as I was resigned to him leaving this summer. At least we now have a chance of getting him back once we return to A as opposed to shipping him off to one of you lot where it would be very unlikely he would ever return.

I know, but than it should have been €9m. My point is that the €18m was bullshit.
€5m on a co-own. Although I'm sure once Juve, Fiorentina, etc come knocking his price goes up, but not to €18m. Considering some of the names I'm hearing Juve being linked with, I dont understand y Ranieri doesn't try for Cigarini.

Maybe so but it seems to have worked in scaring off the big clubs has it not?
Now I'm not one to say I know what the Fatman is thinking but maybe the management seem to think a co ownership is the best thing keep Cigarini sweet in top flight football for a season then bring him back once we get promoted.
Also do you really think Atalanta had 9 million spare to throw around?
Co ownerships are rarely for exactly 50% (ok i know that this seems more like 25%) but the price tag was merely a scare tactic.

TUTTO MERCATO WEB - Atalanta, Cigarini ha detto sì
Fee thought to be around 5.5 million which even for half his contract I feel is too little for a player of his potential.
"Only one of Dessena or Cigarini will be sold" talk is cheap you fecking liars!!!

Well they said only one would be sold...
So if they sell half of each they still own two halves of a player, which equals one whole player...
Damn I'm good at maths, and so are Parma it seems.

So by that token Parma get to keep Dessena's legs and Cigarini's head for the next season ish... Ethical issues aside some sort of player could be made out of that "Dessarini" he could be the next big star!
