MD 38: Parma vs Inter [May 18, 2008]
Parma
vs
Inter
Inter fans have long awaited this day where they can finally clinch the Scudetto and celebrate. Fans gathered last home game anticipating a Scudetto party, but Siena ruined the party by earning a draw and thus resulting in post poning the party to the final match day of the season.
Parma hope to avoid relegation as they currently sit in the final relegation position and need nothing more then a victory along with a Roma victory to retain their position in Serie A. Parma currently sit at 34 points, where Catania lead by two points at 36.
Roma fans will be cheering for Parma as Catania fans will be cheering for Inter. This will surely go down to a memorable day in the history of Serie A.

Couto the deciding factor??
Quote:
Parma's May 5, 2002 secret
Wednesday 14 May, 2008
Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi has a secret weapon to defeat Inter – a man who already ended their Scudetto hopes on May 5, 2002.
The Gialloblu must win on Sunday to have any chance of staying in Serie A, but the Nerazzurri know a victory will seal the title, so it’s set to be a battle royal at the Tardini.
Ghirardi sacked Coach Hector Cuper this week – who was on the Inter bench that infamous May 5 when Lazio won 4-2 to hand the title to Juventus.
“I did it to improve the psychological approach of the squad. This is one of those games that is played with your head more than your feet, so I tried to give them that decisive shock to the system.”
Yet it is not new Coach Andrea Manzo who is the secret weapon at Ghirardi’s disposal, but rather one of his players.
“I am thinking of Fernando Couto,” smiled the patron. “He is coming back after a long ban, he is fresh and rested, has a great deal of experience and of course was playing for Lazio against Inter on May 5, 2002.
“So I am focused on him as the Man of the Match, for superstitious reasons as much as anything else…”
Couto is also eager for revenge after his controversial dismissal and penalty for a handling offence in the 3-2 defeat at San Siro earlier this season.
“What odds to Parma have of winning? I’d say 50 per cent,” continued Ghirardi. “Tactics count, but the difference is made psychologically in a game like this. We may be desperate, but Inter aren’t in much better shape…”
The Nerazzurri have been expected to seal the Scudetto for several weeks now, but a defeat to Milan and 2-2 draw with Siena postponed the party so Roma are only one point adrift.
“I will be at the training ground every day this week to follow the team. I have decided it is better not to put them in a pre-match training camp, though, as I don’t want to put too much pressure on the players.”

Tough game. I won't even dare speculate on the outcome.
But some things need to be worked out from our side. And the CBs must play much better than they have.

Materazzi will have to make up for the missed penalty against Siena, bc if Inter lose the title...fans will blame him.

Italians are funny bunch. And yes, he will shoulder some of the blame.
But lets not forget that Inter have missed key players throughout the season.
If Cordoba, Samuel and Figo were in the lineup, I think this is wrapped up awhile ago. But I'm not bitter. Disappointed, but not bitter. I have to many personal issues to worry about.
Football is a distraction at the moment, but I will support my side regardless of outcome.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry with all the injuries that Inter have suffered over the course of the season.
We will be without Cuch, Ibra, Figo, Samuel, Cordoba and possibly Chivu, all starters! That is half the team.
So to blame one player, is a little short sighted. Yes Matrix made a terrible mistake, but he was very important last season. I look at a variety of factors, including the fact that Roma are a very good team and refuse to capitulate.
This season has been wonderful and will have a wonderful finish..thus the reason I said it has been the best, regardless if Milan don't make the CL or Inter lose or win the tittle.
Serie A has finally climbed out of deep hole, and I think its better off.
But Forza Inter anyways...

This will be the match of the season no doubt, if Parma play to their potential they are more than capable of controlling Inter at fortress Tardini

If it was any other team other then Inter...they would crumble given the amount of injuries. The amount of depth in the squad players allowed Inter to keep the title going. But, the internal affairs among/after the CL exit caused a lot of the problems. There were too many distractions surrounding the club. But, i still think we will see an inter celebration sunday.

We've made a thread in the Parma forum.....bc Parma is technically "home".
MD 38: Parma vs Inter [May 18, 2008]
And i have no doubt that if Inter is losing/tied......Ibra will come out in the final 10-15 min. Even out of form/injured, he's still dangerous.

As for Ibra playing or any other of the walking wounded returning. I don't think so.
Mancini needs to play Balotelli and Rivas in defense.
Hope that Jimenez has another good game in him.
And the fullbacks play great. They haven't done much, I expect Maicon and Maxwell to make many runs.
And of course the IL Capitano. Our leader to play great as always.

I saw that. Martins did not want to leave Inter, he did not want to leave Italy.
However I think it was best for both parties. He just needs to move to a better team.

Ah no, I'm saying that he needs to leave Newcastle and find another club.
