Parma boss Domenico Di Carlo was satisfied with the Ducali’s performance on Wednesday night, despite exiting the Coppa Italia against Juventus.
The Gialloblu fell victim to an explosive Juve side who followed up a 5-1 demolition of Livorno by easing to a 3-1 win over the Emilia-Romagna team.
However, the ex-Mantova tactician was able to take positives from a spirited performance at the Stadio Tardini.
“Until Cristian Molinaro’s goal it was an even game,” he lamented. “We showed determination and at times managed the game well.
“We kept coming at them, even after the second goal which would have taken the wind out of most team’s sails. Maybe we lack a killer touch, but we are solid and can manage a game.”
Finally, Di Carlo was asked to comment on the touchline brawl with Catania counterpart Silvio Baldini on the opening day which stole the headlines in Week 1.
“Are we still talking about that?” he groaned. “I said the last time I was asked that I’m ready to shake his hand and bury the hatchet.”

Corradi thrilled with return Monday 17 September, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parma marksman Bernardo Corradi couldn’t hide his pride after celebrating his return to the peninsula with a goal on his debut.
The 31-year-old striker made his name at Lazio between 2002 and 2004 when he scored 23 goals in 69 games.
After a miserable spell at Valencia, the Tuscan star went to Parma on loan in 2005-06 and found the net 10 times before trying his hand in England with Manchester City.
However, life at Eastlands turned sour when fellow Italian Rolando Bianchi arrived and consigned Corradi to the bench.
Returning to the Stadio Tardini for a second loan spell, Corradi made an immediate impact with a goal against Cagliari which salvaged a point for the Gialloblu.
“I’m delighted that I scored and I will treasure that after what I went through last season,” he told Sky Sports Italia.
“I haven’t started a game for the last six months so I’m very happy with my performance even if I was a bit tired.
“Cagliari are a decent, well-organised side and it wasn’t easy for us to break through. Now we need to carry on like this and pick up as many points as possible.”

Coly given three-match ban Friday 28 September, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ferdinand Coly of Parma has received a three-match ban for striking Cesare Natali in an off the ball incident.
The African defender was caught on camera elbowing Natali in the face as they waited for a set-piece to be floated in during the first half of the 2-0 win over Torino.
The referee did not witness the incident, but upon viewing the footage, the Disciplinary Commission ruled it was “an undoubtedly intentional gesture” deserving of a three-match ban.
Coly will miss the Serie A games against Udinese, Roma and Sampdoria.
Meanwhile, disgraced former Samp hitman Francesco Flachi’s (pictured) two-year ban for cocaine use has been upheld on appeal.
He tested positive for cocaine after the match at Inter on January 28 and the original sentence of 18 months was increased to 24 by the CAF.
Following the CONI verdict today, Flachi’s lawyers announced plans to lodge another appeal to the TAS in Switzerland.

Di Carlo’s vote of confidence Friday 30 November, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi has pledged his support for under-fire Coach Domenico Di Carlo.
Former Mantova boss Di Carlo is finding life in Serie A tough in his maiden top-flight season.
With the axe falling upon underachieving bosses around the peninsula, there had been rumours that the 43-year-old would be next, but Ghirardi refutes such talk.
“I don’t know why everyone wants to put words in my mouth to suggest that I don’t have faith in Di Carlo and that his job is under threat,” Ghirardi declared.
“It’s all journalistic fabrication. It’s true that I’m very demanding as I always ask for the best and I can be quite critical, but I can confirm that Di Carlo is safe on our bench.
“The side have already shown that they have turned a corner, as before the defeat against Roma we were on a four-game unbeaten run and we had put in a great performance against Juve
“I read that without the last five minutes of games, we would be sixth in Serie A and that shows that this side can do great things.”
While Di Carlo seems likely to keep his post for the New Year, he is unlikely to have any money to spend.
“Will we bring in reinforcements? I don’t think that we have personnel problems, so in January we will only replace players that want to leave,” Ghirardi revealed.
“Nobody else will be moving, especially as we are still awaiting the return of Igor Budan. He will be our big winter signing.”

Lucarelli happy with Parma choice Tuesday 15 January, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cristiano Lucarelli says joining Parma in a permanent move from Shakhtar Donetsk is “the best choice I could have made.”
The striker put pen to paper on a contract this afternoon and was greeted at the Stadio Tardini by huge crowds.
“From a professional point of view, I think this is the best choice I could have made,” said Lucarelli.
“The Parma directors proved they were ready to make important financial sacrifices to have me in their squad. They have bombarded me with messages and phone calls since the start of December.”
The Italian international had also been linked with a return to his hometown club Livorno, but opted for fellow strugglers Parma.
“The President never showed the slightest hesitation or wavering. When I accepted, he flew to Ukraine, signed the cheque and left again.”
Lucarelli’s arrival is a massive boost to the side that is battling against relegation with 18 points from as many games, but the Ukraine season means he may not be ready to start this weekend.
“I played my last official game on December 4, then I trained with the ‘Armando Picchi’ amateur team in Livorno.
“Tomorrow I will work out my training programme with the technical staff. I would gladly step on to the field even at 15 per cent of my potential, but it is right that I earn my place with sweat and hard work. In a month I hope to be at the top of my form.”
The 32-year-old had gone to Shakhtar Donetsk so that he could play in the Champions League, but the club side crashed out of the competition in the first round and missed out on a UEFA Cup spot as well.
“I think I can talk positively about my experience in Ukraine. If we had not been eliminated from the Champions League then I probably would have stayed until June.
“In the current conditions I was unable to aim for one of my objectives, an Azzurri jersey for the European Championships. I am convinced my international chances depend on how I’ll play with Parma.”
Lucarelli has scored 105 Serie A goals in 246 appearances, but still has only six senior Italy caps under his belt.
“First of all I want to ensure Parma stay in the top flight. I believe in the project illustrated by President Tommaso Ghirardi.”
The former Livorno star added that he hoped his previous record of 12 goals at the Tardini as an opponent would prove useful.
“This stadium has always brought me good luck. I hope the tradition continues.”

Great move by Parma to pull this off. Very surprised that Roma or Juve didn't go for him. Good for Parma.

Mimmo's referee U-turn Tuesday 22 January, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parma Coach Domenico Di Carlo insists that he has faith in referee designator Pierluigi Collina, despite the controversy of the weekend.
The Ducali were beaten 3-2 by Inter after a debatable penalty award during a late Nerazzurri rally and Di Carlo bitterly inveighed against the officials accusing them of an unintentional bias.
While the former Mantova tactician stands by some of his comments, he admits that he was caught up in the heat of the moment and does trust the officials.
“Looking at the situation calmly, I can see that it was a bit of an exaggeration to talk about subconscious bias,” he admitted on Rete Sport.
“However, the thing that annoyed me was that two Sundays in a row we suffered from wrong decisions and that cost us points.
“Maybe Inter deserved a penalty, but one wasn’t given for an equally clear foul on Bernardo Corradi. And against Fiorentina, Alessandro Gamberini handled in the box and nothing was given.
“But I have a lot of faith in Collina and the referees. I won’t change my outlook despite the decisions against us, but this is a year when we all need to improve from the referees to the players.”
In spite of having come so close to stopping the Beneamata juggernaut, Di Carlo still can’t see Roberto Mancini’s men failing to retain their title.
“No side is unbeatable, but it’s clear that if Inter don’t drop any points within the next month they will be champions of Italy,” he asserted.
“The difference between them and the Giallorossi is just consistency as Roma have consolidated their strength but Inter are more balanced.”

Mimmo faces Parma push Monday 4 February, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is growing speculation in the peninsula that Parma will dismiss struggling Coach Domenico Di Carlo.
The Emilia-Romagna outfit fell to a 3-2 home defeat against Atalanta yesterday – their first reverse against the Orobici at the Stadio Tardini in 34 years.
With Siena recording a heroic win over Roma, the Ducali are now languishing in 17th place and could see the fight for survival go to the wire.
Having finished in 12th place last term, President Tommaso Ghirardi was hoping his men would push for UEFA Cup qualification this time around, but his patience is being tested by a miserable campaign.
This is Di Carlo’s maiden Serie A voyage and his success in the Second Division with Mantova may not have equipped him for the pressures of the big stage.
After just four wins in 21 games, Parma have reached crisis point and reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Ghirardi has started to search for a new tactician.
Alberto Zaccheroni is amongst the favourites, but the former Milan and Inter boss best known for his distinctive and attacking 3-4-3 formation has been out of the game since being sacked by Torino a year ago.
Ex-Chelsea boss Gianluca Vialli is also said to be in the frame. The 43-year-old currently works as a TV pundit in Italy and reportedly turned down the Queens Park Rangers job after the dismissal of John Gregory.

Di Carlo: I will fight on Wednesday 6 February, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The pressure is mounting on Parma boss Domenico Di Carlo, but he is adamant that he will fight for his job at the Stadio Tardini.
Parma suffered their first home defeat against Atalanta in 34 years last weekend and slipped into the relegation zone.
Despite the January arrival of Azzurri marksman Cristiano Lucarelli, things look bleak for the Emilia-Romagna outfit and there is intense speculation that President Tommaso Ghirardi could pull the plug on inexperienced tactician Di Carlo.
“I have watched the tape of Sunday’s game and strangely it doesn’t seem to be merely a question of tactics,” Di Carlo claimed.
“It was our approach that was lacking and then every important incident went against us.”
The Ducali’s next outing truly is make or break for Di Carlo as they visit bottom side Cagliari.
“There’s time to put things right,” the former Mantova boss insisted. “We can make amends straight away against Cagliari, but we cannot play like we did against Atalanta.
“Have I heard anything from the President? I speak to him all the time. Ghirardi is right to be disappointed as we all were because we thought the game would go differently.
“We have to remain calm, but not too calm. I am confident because I have a mature squad.
“The key is to look back over the mistakes and correct them. That comes from moving forward together and also having 11 men defending. I can guarantee that we won’t get anything from Cagliari if we don’t chase and fight.”

Parma sack Di Carlo
Parma sack Di Carlo
Parma have announced that they have parted company with boss Mimmo Di Carlo after the home defeat against Sampdoria. More to follow

Parma sack Di Carlo Monday 10 March, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Relegation-threatened Parma have announced that they have parted company with Coach Domenico Di Carlo.
The Gialloblu lost 2-1 to Sampdoria on Sunday at the Ennio Tardini and are only clear of the drop zone on goal difference.
The embattled club issued a statement on their website saying: “Parma Football Club would like to communicate that Coach Domenico Di Carlo has been relieved of his duties.
“We would like to thank him for his work which he has carried out with competence and seriousness.”
Di Carlo has collected 25 points from 27 matches this season and the Crociati have won just once in their last 10 fixtures.
A hatful of candidates have been linked with the post, including club legend Nevio Scala, who presided over Parma's most successful spell, and Alberto Zaccheroni.
Scala was seen in the stands at yesterday's game against Sampdoria and, according to the Italian Press, would be a popular choice.
The tactician famously led the Crociati to Coppa Italia and UEFA Cup titles among others in a seven-year reign at the club.
Parma have been in some financial difficulty since 2003-04 after former President Calisto Tanzi and Parmalat went bankrupt in controversial circumstances.

Di Carlo was a good coach he just had extremely poor defenders to work with.
He asked for 2 defenders in the summer and got Falcone... and we all know how he turned out.
He knew how to play some attractive football but was extremely unlucky with some results especially being sacked after outplaying Samp in everyway.
But I suppose if you can't win against Samp at home then you don't really deserve much.
He is a great man and I wish him all the best in his future club now bring back the hero Scala.
or heres hoping
JOSE!!

Parma to call on Cuper? Tuesday 11 March, 2008
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Parma President Tommaso Ghirardi is considering his options for life after Mimmo Di Carlo, while Nevio Scala distances himself from the hot seat.
Former Mantova man Di Carlo lost his job on Monday after Parma’s 2-1 defeat with Sampdoria.
He collected only 25 points from 27 games, a return which has left the Gialloblu joint third from bottom with 11 matches to go.
Despite wielding the axe, the 42-year-old President refused to completely blame Di Carlo for Parma’s plight, which has seen them win only one of their last 10 games.
“It isn’t right to put all the blame on the Coach. We must all examine our consciences - players, Coaches and directors,” he insisted.
Although no new man has been confirmed, Ghirardi reassured journalists that Parma is in safe hands and that there is a strategy in place.
“The club has very clear ideas and by Tuesday we will already know who will take over training,” he explained.
“We still don’t have an agreement and for this reason we will wait before releasing a name.
"We want a Coach with experience and I want to make an important and long-lasting choice. I am used to not disappointing or deceiving anyone.”
Many names have been linked with the bench at the Ennio Tardini including those of former boss Scala, Alberto Zaccheroni and Hector Cuper.
Cuper, who was dismissed by Real Betis in December, is now the favourite for the job as Scala has been quick to play down the frenzy sparked by his presence at the Ducali’s defeat against Sampdoria.
“On Saturday I went to the party to celebrate Inter’s 100th anniversary and so I stayed overnight in Milan,” he told Calciomercato.it.
“The next morning I had breakfast and decided to drop by my house in Parma. I just wanted to open the windows and let some air in.”
Reports suggest that Gianni De Biasi and Carlo Mazzone have already refused Ghirardi’s call, as he tries to repeat last term’s success when he fired the struggling Stefano Pioli and replaced him with Claudio Ranieri who led the Crociati to safety.
