Default Corradi returns to Parma

Quote:
Experienced hitman Bernardo Corradi has returned to Parma in a loan deal with Manchester City.

The 31-year-old made his name at Lazio where he hit 23 goals in 69 games between 2002 and 2004.

After an unsuccessful spell at Valencia, the Tuscan marksman returned to the peninsula and played for Parma in the 2005-06 campaign.

Manchester City swooped to sign Corradi last summer, but after a respectable maiden Premier League season he has found himself second to fellow exile Rolando Bianchi at Eastlands.

Napoli had been heavily linked with the ex-Chievo man earlier in the summer, but Parma will foot his £1m wage bill this term and have the option to make the deal permanent in June 2008.

Corradi will be unveiled with the Crociati shirt on Friday evening and may travel to Bergamo to watch his new side face Atalanta.

Finally we are covered for if Budan is injured....he wont score alot of goals but the midfielders have an option to hoof it up to Corradi now if needs be.

Budan injury calls on Corradi Monday 3 September, 2007

Parma will need Bernardo Corradi to get into shape quickly, as Igor Budan will be out of action for two months.

The Croatian hitman suffered a serious right thigh strain and tests today confirmed the initial prognosis from when he pulled up during Thursday’s training session.

It is a heavy blow for the club, who have picked up just one point from their opening two Serie A games.

Budan has been at the Tardini since January 2006, scoring 13 goals in 36 appearances for the club.

It is a return for Corradi, who arrived from Manchester City on the last day of the transfer window, as he scored 10 goals in 35 Serie A matches in 2005-06 when he was on loan from Valencia.

“The break for international duty gives us the opportunity to bring the new players into the side and work together,” explained Coach Domenico Di Carlo after Parma’s 2-0 loss at Atalanta.

“I am curious to see how we will react to this defeat, but I have faith in our abilities. We’re coming in to a relegation dogfight with Cagliari that has already become crucial, as they put Juventus under pressure and beat Napoli away from home.”

Corradi's Man City plea Wednesday 5 September, 2007

Bernardo Corradi is overjoyed to be back in Serie A and begs Manchester City to let him stay at Parma on a permanent basis.

“I know everyone here, so it’s like returning to my family home and I am so happy to be here again,” said the striker in his presentation Press Conference.

He had already starred for the Gialloblu when he was on loan from Valencia, scoring 10 goals in 35 games to keep them afloat in 2005-06.

“I had some good times with Parma, but it was all different then, as the club was under administration and fought hard to stay in the top flight.”

That is still their target this term, but Corradi is an important reinforcement, especially with centre-forward Igor Budan out for a couple of months injured.

“There is a real club in place now and I want to prove on the field that they were right to want me,” he added.

“I chose Parma because I heard they wanted me more than any other side. I had offers from Spain and other countries, including within Italy, but I immediately understood that Parma wanted me at all costs.”

Corradi needs to prove something to his doubters back in England as well, having struggled to make an impact at Manchester City with just three goals in 25 Premiership appearances.

“When I arrived at Parma two years ago I knew it was a one-season affair on loan and dreamed of winning back my place in the Italy squad for the World Cup. Now my ambition today is to do so well that at the end of the season I can ask Manchester City to leave me here permanently.

“England was an experience that allowed me to mature and know myself a little better. It will be useful for my time here as well.”

Corradi could make his debut as early as next weekend in a crunch relegation dogfight with Cagliari at the Stadio Tardini.

“I am in good shape and cannot wait to train, run and play football. I can be Budan’s replacement, but also play alongside him. We are different players and can do well together.”

Good move for Corradi, he's defo a Serie A style striker, and obviously wasn't ready for football abroad. Hopefully he does well for Parma

I am glad to see him back in Italy, and at Parma! The poor guy didn't have it easy in ENgland and I am glad he is ahppy with the return. I saw the interview with him arriving and he sure looked happy to be back.

Lets hope he does well!

I've always rated him, he'll get 10+ goals as a starter.
