Default Parma pre-season 07/08

Quote:
Parma will play a summer friendly against Celtic at Parkhead on July 29, announced the club.

The Gialloblu are going to visit Scottish soil for their pre-season tour and will take on Gordon Strachan’s Celtic.

The Glasgow game will be the third time these two sides have crossed paths for a friendly encounter.

In 1997 the tie ended 1-1, while Celtic won with a 2-1 result at their last meeting in 2002.

Parma are still looking for a new Coach after Claudio Ranieri left to join Juventus.

I love when they play keep ball similar to this but the player rounds around...i rarely see the player in the middle get the ball. But good for your reaction timing.

Friendlies: Parma's lucky 13
Sunday 15 July, 2007
New signings Reginaldo and Stefano Morrone scored in Parma’s 13-0 friendly win, while Reggina put 12 past a local side.

The pre-season friendlies are in full swing now and Parma made their debut under new Coach Mimmo Di Carlo.

They thrashed amateur side Amatori Avio 13-0 and new buys Reginaldo and Morrone got their names on the scoresheet.

Massimo Paci got two, while Andrea Pisanu was the star of the show with a hat-trick. Other scorers were Alessio Tombesi, Igor Budan, Gilberto Martinez, Moretti, Vitali Kutuzov and a Calvetti own goal.

Reggina were also in action under the guidance of new boss Massimo Ficcadenti, as they saw off Val D’Ayas 12-0 in their pre-season camp at Brusson.

The Amaranto tested out a new tactical system with Ciccio Cozza and Nicola Amoruso sitting behind strikers Inacio Joelson and Fabio Ceravolo.

Youngster Simone Missiroli got two, as did Joelson and Jose Montiel, while Ceravolo hit a hat-trick. Amoruso, Benito Viola and Nickie Nielsen also thumped the back of the net.

“It was important to see everyone together after just eight days of training and try to get some interesting notes,” said tactician Ficcadenti.

“We played with four at the back, three in midfield and upfront. It’s too early to say if this will be the system we use, but it is being practised ahead of tougher experiments.”

Reggina: Campagnolo (Novakovic 46), Miguel Garcia (Alvarez 46), Modesto (Barillà 46), Cascione (Missiroli 60), Lanzaro (Cherubin 46), Aronica (Cosenza 46), Missiroli (Pettinari 46), Vigiani (Viola 46), Joelson (Montiel 46), Cozza (Ceravolo 46), Amoroso (Nielsen 46)

Parma: Bucci (Virgili 46); Coly (Ferronetti 46), Paci (Falcone 46), Contini (Couto 46), Castellini (Bocchetti 46); Dessena, Parravicini (Moretti 46), Tombesi (Pisanu 46); Reginaldo (Morfeo 46), Budan (Kutuzov 46), Martinez (M Rossi 65)

Friendlies: Parma disappoint Sunday 22 July, 2007

Parma had a disappointing 1-1 draw with Serie C1 outfit Cittadella this evening, as the club gives the latest updates on Giuseppe Rossi’s future.

New Coach Mimmo Di Carlo is still having teething problems with the Stadio Tardini outfit and their second friendly test of the season raised a few questions.

Teenage Argentine Martinez opened the scoring after just eight minutes and Daniele Dessena struck the crossbar, but Parma faltered as time wore on.

Cittadella drew level through Meggiorini on 35 minutes, having waltzed past a slow Fernando Couto and Virgili.

New signing Reginaldo, who made the move from Fiorentina this summer, came on in the second half but he too only found the woodwork.

The Gialloblu barely avoided relegation at the end of last season and the departure of Claudio Ranieri seems to have sapped the enthusiasm out of the fans.

“In all honesty, I expected more than the 7,000 season tickets we have sold so far,” said President Tommaso Ghirardi.

“We deserve far more and I want at least 15,000. We need this contribution from the fans to be more active on the transfer market, but also to consolidate what we have already achieved.”

Parma’s policy appears to gravitate around the future of Giuseppe Rossi, who could make his six-month loan spell from Manchester United into a permanent fixture.

“The situation is in stasis. We saw his agents today, but won’t know what will happen until Manchester United return from their tour of Korea. We are relaxed. If we can bring him here then we will be happy, but if not then we wish him well.”

At least they tied. No big deal though. Better then a loss, i guess.

Friendlies: Parma conquer Spain Friday 10 August, 2007

Parma celebrated capturing the Trofeo Colombino by signing Czech international goalkeeper Radek Petr.

Petr was first choice for the Czech Republic in the Under-20 World Cup played this summer.

The 20-year-old had been plying his trade with club side Banik Ostrava, but is now contracted until June 30, 2011 at the Stadio Tardini.

Petr has chosen shirt Number 1 for his first Serie A experience and has already undergone his first training session at the Collecchio ground.

It was a positive day all round for Parma, who became the first Italian club ever to win the prestigious Trofeo Colombino.

They drew 1-1 with home side Recreativo Huelva and beat Real Zaragoza 2-0, but the final match between the two Spanish sides ended 2-2, so Parma emerge as the victors.

This is one of the oldest friendly tournaments in Europe and has been played almost every summer since 1965.

Friendlies: Parma conquer Mestalla
Sunday 19 August, 2007
Parma registered a sensational 2-0 victory away to Spanish giants Valencia to win the Naranja Trophy.

It was a thoroughly morale-boosting result for Mimmo Di Carlo’s men just a week away from the start of the Serie A season.

The Gialloblu had a very strong opening with Reginaldo shooting just wide and Igor Budan breaking through seven minutes in at the Mestalla.

The forward placed a precise right-foot angled drive into the far corner past Hildebrand’s outstretched hand.

Francesco Parravicini and Reginaldo also tested Hildebrand and Valencia only had their first real shot on goal after 21 minutes with David Villa firing off target and Luca Bucci parrying a Miguel Angulo effort.

In the second half Silva’s counter-attack was wide and Ruben Baraja thumped the upright, but the Spaniards had required a goalline clearance to prevent Andrea Gasbarroni from doubling Parma’s tally.

Budan nearly bagged a brace from distance, though it proved to be a late substitute who decided the match.

Domenico Morfeo had been frozen out of the squad and sent home early from Parma’s last friendly trip to Spain earlier this month, having had a blazing row with director Sandro Melli.

He’s back in the side and proved it with a goal to put the result beyond doubt five minutes from time. The creative midfielder curled one of his trademark free kicks into the top corner for the Gialloblu’s historic 2-0 victory at the Mestalla.

The Tardini side have relished their visits to Spain this summer, also beating Real Zaragoza 2-0 and drawing 1-1 with Recreativo Huelva.

I have not seen Parma play that kind of football in a long time, Di Carlo could do wonders
