Not really, than again, my stream was horrible. I stopped watching 60 minutes in, after we had 3 names on the pitch Ive never heard of. It was just a chance for the bench to get some match fitness, and 2 got injured.

Default Match 7: Zaragoza 3 - 0 Levante

3-0
____________________________________Sergio Garcia(65)
_____________________________________Oliveira(72,82)

Zaragoza did well, after coming back off a uefa cup exit to the hands of Aris Salonika.

Zaragoza had this game under control and won comfortably in the end. Though after the first half It didn’t look like it would be their day. With milito’s shoot hitting the post and bouncing back off and then aimar missing a good chance.

In the second half they were much more clinical, especially since riga disappeared for levante. Sergio Garcia then broke the deadlock with a very nice finish after a great through ball from milito and that will just give Victor Munoz even more of an headache.

Oliveira then wraps up the game, but that was due to poor defending from Levante, shouldn’t have let him make the run so easily.

Though there was nothing the defence could’ve done for the second goal. Beautiful shot by oliveira, placing it on the right side of the goal.

Riga impresses me, but he still needs to be more productive in front of goal and produce something after his great runs. Levante really look like a mess, but what else can you expect from a side that has recruited 12 new players.

Default MD13: Zaragoza 1 - 1 Getafe

1 -1
D’allesandro(81)______________Sousa(65)

I expected a very entertaining game, but it was pretty dull until the last 15mins. Victor Fernandez really messed up the teams formation by deciding to leave aimar/d’allesandro on the bench and instead play with Sergio Garcia on the right wing and oscar on the left. Sergio Garcia was the only spark zaragoza had in the first half even if he was being deployed in a unfamiliar position to him.

Zaragoza had a makeshift backline with the young Valero at left back and ex getafe man parades playing as a cb. Ayala really was important today and kept uche/manu at bay for most of the game. But then juanfran made a stupid mistake. Fernandez was about to put on aimar/d’allesandro so that they could win the game and then juanfran decides to control the ball in the box and sousa was able to snatch his loose control and put away a easy chance.

Aimar was ineffectual when he came on, but d’allesandro added a lot of urgency and creativity to the side. Though despite all his efforts it looked like zaragoza weren’t going to get anything out of the game. But then d’allesandro scored from those gay free kicks. Where the ref allows them to take a free kick even though the goalkeeper is clearly not ready ala henry against Chelsea, Giggs against Lille last season etc. Pato was trying to organize the wall and whilst he was doing that d’allesandro asked the ref if he could take the free kick and he then scored a pretty easy goal.

Hands out to the getafe centre backs who were great today, especially Abrante and to think he only ever played 2 games for Barcelona

teams must make one of their players stand in front ot the ball untill the goalkeeper is ready for the free-kick! many teams do that, getafe lost 2 points out of that.
I watched the highlits, I see pato had those sloppy matches he has once in a month or two... where he is not concentrated and hardly catches the ball properly or goes out of the goal and doesn't get to the ball...

zaragoza are so disappointing... I guess yesterday it was because aimar and d'alessandro didn't play, but still, bad results.

Victor needs to get some positive results or he could be fired in 2-3 games. He looks kind of lucky that Oliveira smashed 2 in to equalise in the last 5 minutes.

But on a positive it looks like Oliveira could be getting back to his best form. 8 goals in 11 starts so far this season so it looks like he maybe just needed the confidence and playing time although Spanish football may also suit him better than Italian.

Fernández: I Understand Why I Was Sacked

Quote:

Víctor Fernández has admitted that he understood why he was sacked by Real Zaragoza at the weekend and tipped the team to turn things around this season.

The coach was ousted by the Aragónese outfit after the draw against Mallorca on Sunday and he recognised the reasons behind the decision.

Zaragoza have failed to build on a strong season last year and have already been eliminated from the UEFA Cup and the Copa del Rey.

"The results were not what is expected for the ambitious plans the club has and it is understandable," Fernández said at a press conference on Tuesday.

"I am calm and relaxed but it does hurt and I am sad that the we did not do what we wanted to."

As suggestions were made that it was not just a case of bad results that saw the club decide to remove Fernández from his post, he hoped that there was nothing more to it.

"It was very quick and everything was made clear. I want to believe that the club lost confidence because of the results," he continued.

"I do not want to think that it was for any other reason."

After insisting that he would not be returning for a third stint in charge, Fernández back Zaragoza to overcome their problems and bounce back.

"I think the team can turn things around and that there is everything to play for in the second half of the season," he explained.

"I am positive that there is a great squad here with superb players."

Fernandez sacked and the youth coach Ander Garitano will take over until the end of the season. With the squad they have they can get top 4 if they reach their potential but they'll be happy with a UEFA Cup spot for this season.

Javier Irureta Takes Zaragoza Hotseat

Former Deportivo La Coruna boss Javier Irureta has taken over at Real Zaragoza, following Ander Garitano's shock resignation...

Legendary Depor coach Javier Irureta is back in the Liga after taking over at struggling Real Zaragoza.

The Romareda outfit parted company with Victor Fernandez earlier in the month, only for his replacement, Ander Garitano, to himself sensationally quit the job just a week into his tenure.

Now, Irureta has been charged with the task of taking the blanquillos back up the table.

The 59-year-old Basque coach has not held a management position since an ill-fated spell in charge of Real Betis in 2006. Prior to that, he spent six seasons with big-spending Deportivo, helping them to a league title and significant Champions League runs.

Previously, the well-traveled boss handled clubs including Celta Vigo, Real Sociedad, Athletic Bilbao, and Racing Santander.

An ex-striker, he spent the bulk of his playing career with Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao.

Weirdly Garitano quit after a just week and now Javi Irueta is boss.

Also strangely Javi Irueta was announced to take over at Real Sociedad but when the Zaragoza job offer came in he must have changed his mind at the last minute.
