Juventus Seal Jorge Andrade Deal
Quote:
The official site of Deportivo La Coruna has revealed that the two clubs have agreed on the transfer of the player to the Bianconeri.
It seems that Juventus has finally found their central defender. After weeks of courting various players, including Gabriel Milito and Pepe, the Old Lady seem destined to sign Jorge Andrade of Deportivo La Coruna.
The news seems official as it was the Spanish club who announced the news on their website late on Friday evening with a note which stated that the two clubs "reached an agreement for the transfer of the player to the Bianconeri. The Portuguese player will be in Turin in the coming days to formalize the arrival to the historic Italian club."
According to the speculation coming from Spain, the transfer will cost the Old Lady 10 million Euros, almost half what they would have had to pay for Gabriel Milito from Real Zaragoza.
Andrade had recently been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona, the latter having been interested in him for two years.
He was close to a move to the Camp Nou last summer, but a knee ligament injury in February 2006 (ironically in a match against the Catalans), ruined the move, as well as his World Cup hopes. Barca signed Thuram instead.
He was also linked with Chelsea, compatriot Jose Mourinho knowing him well. A regular with the Portuguese national team, he is considered to be one of the most solid defenders in Spain.
All that remains for the move to be complted is for the player to agree terms.

Goal.com - Juventus - Juventus Seal Jorge Andrade Deal
Lots of twists and turns this transfer window, what a fool I was thinking we'd actually get Chivu
Andrade is an excellent signing for Juve and this probably ends Depor's current reign as a top 10 football club. They have Dudu Aoute (can't spell that) , Estoyanoff, Riki and Coloccini as well as a tonne of youngsters who haven't done that well. It wouldn't suprise me if they'll be fighting relegation in the next few seasons, I would be shocked if they were fighting for Europe.

Depor swoop for Mexico starlet
Quote:
Deportivo La Coruna have agreed a deal to sign Mexico starlet Andres Guardado.
The Atlas midfielder, 21, was close to a move to Dutch side PSV Eindhoven, but now looks to have secured a €7million (£4.7million) move to the Spanish club.
"We have the pleasure of finishing the negotiations with Deportivo La Coruna to transfer Guardado to that team," Atlas president Fernando Acosta Martinez told Medio Tiempo.
"We had held negotiations with PSV, but we had also had conversations with La Coruna and those were the best for all of us.
"Everything has been arranged and next week we will finalise some formal details in Spain.
"The transfer of the player has been agreed at €7m. This is not an expensive player. I think we have given him away cheaply because he is young and has great qualities.
"He is a national team player. I am sure that if he had been Argentinian or Brazilian, he would have cost €5m (£3.4m) more.
"Atlas didn't really want to sell this player, but it was a very important chance for him to play in Europe."
The player's agent, Mario Ordales, says Guardado chose to move to La Liga rather than the Eredivisie as he felt it would offer him better opportunities to further his career.
"For Guardado, this is an enormous chance because today the Spanish league is the best in the world and offers great possibilities for players," he said.

I've been told that Guardado is a really good talent. I think the move to Deportivo could bring him on to bigger things and €7million seems like a cheap price so Deportivo have done well.
The only problem with this is that Deportivo has a really really young team and need a bit of experience. Coloccini will probably be sold so they still need to get Andrade, Capdevilla, Arizmendi replacements plus a new striker with almost no money to spend on these positions. They're in a worrying position but Lotina their new coach is probably the best choice for this task.

I've heard nothing but good things about him. Very much in the Ryan Giggs mould.

Great game in the Copa Semi yesterday. He dragged back 2 defenders by cutting inside and then hitting the post and later had a shot at a stretch and a wide angle miss the far post by inches.
I think Depor might have got a bargain.

Wow what a goal. I really hope Guardado does well at Depor.
Mexico really have a Golden Generation coming through. At the next world Cup they'll have Marquez, dos Santos, Guardado, Osorio, Carlos Vela, Juarez, Nery Castillo and more talents, they could win the World Cup.

mexico look interesting! should keep an eye on them.
if dos santos can get to the level he ia expected to, then they're real challengers for the best.

Márquez recomendó al Barça el fichaje de Guardado - SPORT - Confidencial Sport
Rafael Marquez recommended to the Barcelona chiefs to sign Andres Guardado but wasn't convincing enough. Rafa did play a big part in Guardado coming to Spain instead of going to PSV tho.
Shame as Barca could have got him and loaned him to Depor for this season, I guess he wasn't really needed.

Goal.com - Transfer Zone - Troubled Tristan Looks To Reignite Career In Livorno
Former Depor legend Diego Tristan leaves Mallorca and joins Livorno.
Strange how his career has bombed from being the 2nd favourite to be top scorer at the 2002 World Cup to have not scored a goal in a bout a year.

Big, big loss for your team. Andrade was a workhorse in the back, a true warrior.

J3-LFP- Depor v Real Betis
V
Date:September 16, Sunday
Time: 17:00
Stadium:Estadio Riazor
Referee:
Previous meetings in Riazor
2001-2002- DEPOR 2 -- BETIS 0
2002-2003- DEPOR 2 -- BETIS 4
2003-2004- DEPOR 2 -- BETIS 2
2004-2005- DEPOR 1 -- BETIS 1
2005-2006- DEPOR 1 -- BETIS 1
2006-2007- DEPOR 0 -- BETIS 1
As you can see depor haven't been able to beat betis at home since 2001. Going to be tough game to call since depor are light upfront and betis haven't really had a great start, just getting two draws against Recre (1-1) and Espanyol (2-2) and in both matches had to come from behind.
These 2 sides need start winning games during this early period or they will both end up fighting against relegation.
