Mundo Deportivo - Petrov abre la puerta
Atletico Madrid agree a 7m Euros fee with Manchester City for his sale. Petrov has left Madrid to go to England but I think it's still possible for him to go to Spurs if they match the price. Either way he's on his way out.
LW out, LW in it looks like with Quaresma and Simao still being hounded.

A bit like pinching Jurado. Real's youth system seems to be leaking over the last few seasons but I think Schuster has made a positive step in calling up so many youngsters in pre-season.
Javi Garcia won't start for Atletico so he'll have to pray he'll get a run out sometimes.

Goal.com - Spain - Reyes And Luis Garcia Down Disjointed Lazio
They've made up for the 2-0 Ajax loss with a 3-1 win over Lazio, which makes a 3rd place finish in the Amsterdam Tournament I think.
Braulio, Reyes y Luis Garca scored for Atletico and Mauri scored for Lazio.

Atletico madrid made two huge signings on the two days of the transfer market.
Joan Roman Riquelme (5m euros)
Thiago Motta (2m euros)
bargains!
now atletico must run to the title.

Marcelino: Atletico Have The Necessity To Win
Racing de Santander manager, Marcelino Garcia Toral, thinks that Atletico Madrid, the next opponents his team will face, have the necessity to win the three points, and should be very difficult opponents.
Marcelino told reporters during a press conference, that Atletico Madrid have “lots of potential in their attack” and that after a poor start to the season, the side from the capital will “intend to play a good match.”
The manager declared that Atletico “have the necessity to win” because, if they don’t pick up the three points, “the pressure will be much too large.”
According to Marcelino, if Racing play like they did in the first two rounds of the season, against Barcelona and Real Zaragoza, they will “make life difficult” for Atletico.
He also said that Atletico have reinforced their flanks very well, and the fact that Sergio Aguero is now “more adapted to the Spanish league” is a huge bonus, particularly for their offense.
“We have to try to not allow them to settle on the field,” affirmed the manager, and he added that his team have to enter the field with a good attitude and lots of concentration.
Marcelino concluded that it is very difficult for the “big teams” to stay consistent during the ninety minutes of a match, because they participate in a number of competitions, playing lots of matches.

Atletico President: We Can Win Everything
Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo hasn't quite ruled out a challenge for the Liga title from his squad...
Atleti president Enrique Cerezo feels that Javier Aguirre and his men can battle it out successfully on all three fronts this season.
With the UEFA Cup, the Copa del Rey and the Liga all very much open for business, the Vicente Calderon supremo sees no reason to admit defeat just yet.
"We are candidates to fight for everything," he told Marca.
"Now, the important thing is for us to continue our good run of form with wins against Copenhagen [in the UEFA Cup] and Getafe, which will give us a feeling of calm heading into the final stretch before the holidays.
"I don't know if this team has a limit, but we do need to go from Sunday to Sunday, so I'm sure that we'll go into the derby clash with Getafe with the same faith in victory as we showed [against Betis."
But before that comes a trip to Copenhagen, where Atletico can seal their passage into the Round of 32 in the UEFA Cup.
"The team must secure that final qualification," insisted the boss.
"For us, the UEFA Cup is a major competition, and the players obviously feel so, too, as they show in terms of interest and effort in each meeting."
With such praise for his men, it's perhaps unsurprising that Cerezo once again ruled out moving for a new player - even a defender - in the January transfer window.
"We haven't thought of carrying out any recruitment, and we maintain that this will be the case until the end of the season," he stated.
"In recent weeks, people have said that the defence was weak, but [against Betis] they were magnificent and kept a clean sheet."

Leo Franco Out For A Month, But Still Happy
Leo Franco has played his last game for Atlético de Madrid this year after pulling a muscle in his leg during the victory over Real Betis on Sunday evening.
The Argentine goalkeeper pulled up after taking a goal-kick and had to be replaced by Christian Abbiati four minutes from the end of the two-goal win.
After an examination back in the Spanish capital, Leo Franco was told that he would be out for at least three or four weeks, ending his hopes of playing before the winter break.
“I have a strong strain in my quadriceps. I have had to take a few tests," he explained. "I felt it immediately and asked to come off."
Despite picking up the knock, the custodian was pleased to see los Colchoneros pick up all three points thanks to goals from Diego Forlán and Raúl García.
“The main thing was the team winning," he continued. "That was the goal that we set before the start of the match.
"We came away with the three points from a difficult stadium and against a team with quality players."
Atlético moved into fourth place after the win and Leo Franco was delighted that the side kept a clean sheet after letting ten goals in their previous four games.
“The team was good at the back, good positionally, serious and focused, and that’s why we were pleased," he said.
“It’s good to be in the Champions League places, but the important thing is where you are at the end. The difficult thing now is to remain at the top.
"Some weeks we’ll be up there and others we might fall out; there are very strong teams such as Barcelona and Espanyol, but we’ll fight to be up at the top."

Atletico have sealed at least 4th place and so go into the CL.
The scary thing is that they are now level on points with Barca and could finish in 3rd place above them
