Recreativo Huelva
Quote:
Recreativo Huelva coach Marcelino has confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 41-year-old has decided to call time on his career at Estadio Nuevo Colombino after two successful years at the helm.
He led Recre to promotion to the Primera Liga last year and this season they have impressed and are currently in ninth spot with two games of the season remaining.
The coach insists he does not have another job lined up but has already been linked with moves to Spanish rivals Getafe, Real Betis and Athletic Bilbao.
"Everything in life has a beginning and an end, and this is the moment to end my time at Recre," Marcelino told a news conference.
"I am not leaving for any non-sports related, or economic reason. It is a decision we took some time ago. I would like to thank the club for the freedom and support they have always given me, particularly in difficult moments."

Well 2 seasons with Recre, one promotion, the other a top 10 finish so not bad. Quite a lot of very promising coaches in La Liga at the moment like Schuster, Portugal, Valverde, Ramos, Flores, Marcelino, Ziganda....
I think he'll move to Betis next season as they've been offering their job around for a while as Laudrup confirmed. Getafe possibly if Schuster leaves but I think he'd rather go to Betis as their budget is much bigger.

Recre recruit Alvarez
Quote:
Recreativo de Huelva added some experience to their back-line with the capture of Villarreal defender Quique Alvarez.
The 32-year-old departs the Yellow Submarines after six years at the club.
He has agreed a two-year deal with Recreativo and will help to cover the loss of Mario who moved to Getafe earlier in the summer.
Alvarez was a personal choice of new Recre boss Victor Munoz who has already worked with the player on three separate occasions in his career.
The player is expected to be officially presented to the press on Tuesday.
He becomes the club's sixth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Stefano Sorrentino (AEK Athens), Javier Camunas (Xerez), Beto (Bordeaux), Silvestre Varela (Sporting Lisbon) and Carlos Martins (Sporting Lisbon).

Carlos Martins showed some of the potential that he showed a couple of years ago. He has the talent, but is an inconsistent player. He hasn’t been playing at his best for recreativo this season and it isn’t a surprise, since he hardly featured for sporting last season.
Zaragoza are really underperforming and to think i actually believed they would get a cl spot this season. The team has so much quality, but it looks like the team doesn't believe in themselves and it shows when they have a lot of possession , but aren't able to convert their chances. But i still think they can change things around.

.....MD16: Recreativo de Huelva vs. Atletico Madrid.....
OMG! Forlan scored but the ref disallowed the goal because of a dive of maxi rodriguez :S and gave maxi a yellow card!
it wasn't a dive! and he should have allowed the goal anyway

Patsy, how do you rate Pongolle?
Apparently both Martins and Pongolle will sign for Benfica, the deal should be made official very soon. Huelva will get 10m € for both players.

Pongolle is quick, young and can always get at least 10 goals a season, despite El Decano almost getting relegated this season. Last season he hit 12 goals with a lot of sub appearances when they did better and finished top half.
Personally I wanted him to go to Valencia when they were being linked as he would have been a good 3rd striker for them to have. I'd bet money on that he wouldn't flop at Benfica providing he gets playing time.

I heard he has a long injury record and that he wastes a lot of chances?
