Getafe
Getafe continued their amazing start to the season by going back to the top of the Spanish first division with a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten Valencia.
Star of the show was Getafe's Riki Sanchez who got the hosts' equaliser three minutes from half time and then made a magnificent run down the left wing to set up Pablo Redondo's winner two minutes from time.
Valencia's David Villa celebrated his recall to the Spanish team by scoring in his fifth consecutive game, with a header after 30 minutes.
However, Villa blotted his copybook by getting sent off in injury time as nerves started to fray
>> A little backstreet club in Madrid is running La Liga at the moment. 2-1 over Valencia is strong. Looks like the former Real Madrid striker Riki, will have a very good season.
Maybe Getafe take a Real Sociedad 2003 and running the show to the end. However, great for football and Spanish football.

Getafe are proving to be a bit of a force this year.We had a tough time with them last year and this year might be harder. They seem to play very well under schuster though Levante last year played well at the beggining with Shuester in charge then they sunk to the relagation zone as the season progressed leaving poor old shuester unemployed.. this year he might have a point to prove with Getafe...

Laudrup heading to Spain
Quote:
Danish legend Michael Laudrup says he is set to move to Spain at the end of the season.
The former Ajax and Barcelona star says he has received a host of offers from Primera Liga clubs.
Getafe are one club who have confirmed their interest in the former Bronby coach.
"When I am declaring that I am moving to Spain, it's because I have got eight to 10 serious offers from Spanish clubs," Laudrup told Ekstra Bladet.
"There are many possibilities, but I have to consider many factors to to determine which is the most interesting club."
Laudrup recently confirmed he had turned down a chance to take over at Celta Vigo and also dismissed a move to join Leeds.

He also turned down Betis as well so if Schuster goes to Real then he could take over at Getafe although I'm not sure it's the right club as he'll have hardly any money to spend.

Getafe sign Oscar Ustari and 'Cata' Diaz
Getafe Welcome Diaz and Ustari
Quote:
Los Azulones make their fifth and sixth summer signings as they welcome 'Cata' Diaz and Oscar Ustari to the Coliseum, all the way from Argentina...
Getafe have dipped into the transfer market once more and surfaced with two more Argentinian imports. One, a central defender, is set to replace Alexis Ruano in the Geta back line, while the other, a goalkeeper, has a role much less clear.
Centre-back Daniel 'Cata' Diaz arrives from Boca Juniors with a 6m Euro price tag and a wealth of experience. Currently serving Argentina in the Copa America, the 28 year old began his career at Rosario Central before playing for Cruz Azul, Colon and finally the Boquita.
Diaz has three caps for Argentina but has yet to play a competitive game for his country. International coach Basile knows him well from their time together at Colon, and regards Daniel as a dependable player. This is just what Getafe need as they seek to replace Alexis Ruano, who has signed for Valencia for around 6 million euros in a part-exchange deal.
The other signing is not expected to slot straight into the first team - an obvious situation when "Pato" Abbondanzieri is your goalkeeper. Instead, youngster Oscar Ustari may well be loaned out for his first season in Spain.
The stopper, who turned 21 yesterday, has signed from Independiente for an undisclosed fee. Part of the 2006 Argentina World Cup squad, he's extremely experienced at youth level, having won the 2005 Football World Youth Championship with the albiceleste.
While "Zamora" (Liga goalkeeper of the year) Pato Abbondanzieri is set to keep his place for the new campaign, Ustari is seen as one for the future and could be blooded with a rival club. There should be no shortage of clubs willing to try him, as he's seen as hot property: the likes of Barcelona failed to land Ustari despite a long-running transfer saga.

Oscar Ustari the special one has ended up signing for Getafe which was suprising but he'll probably be available on loan next season. Also 'Cata' Diaz sounds like a good signing to replace Alexis. 2 ambitious signings by Getafe who will be skint now.

Would have thought Ustari would have went to a bigger club as he has great potential.

Yeah he was linked to Barca, then Villarreal. Playing for Getafe next season will be hard considering Getafe have the current Zamora in Pato Abbondanzieri so maybe a loan out to a club like Osasuna, Racing, Betis, Recre wil happen.

Laudrup lands Getafe role
Quote:
Getafe have wasted little time in replacing Bernd Schuster, having named Michael Laudrup as his successor.
Schuster completed his protracted move to Real Madrid on Monday and just hours later, Danish tactician Laudrup was appointed in his place as coach.
Laudrup has never previously coached in any of Europe's top leagues, but has accrued experience in a managerial capacity, having guided Brondby to a domestic double in 2005.
A year later he elected not to extend his stay at the Scandinavian giants and ever since has been linked with a host of positions in Spain, where he enjoyed success as a player with Barcelona and Real Madrid.
He has now decided the time is right to try his hand in La Liga, having concurred on a two-year deal at Getafe, who will play in the Uefa Cup next season.

Laudrup turned down Betis and Celta last year and said he wanted to move to a "bigger club". I don't know if he knows it but Getafe are an awful lot smaller than Betis.
I'll stick my neck out and say he'll struggle in this job.

Yeah Getafe have sealed a few deals before he came such as Cata Diaz who is in the Argie squad for the Copa America as well as Oscar Ustari, Kepa Blanco and Pallardo from Valencia but they've spent most of their Alexis money and will have hardly anything to spend this summer except their Copa and UEFA Cup cash.
It will probably come down to no big signings and them having to depend on Laudrup's tactical decisions to make a small club finish midtable again.

I reckon he is in Getafe to develop and maybe be a alternative to Madrid in the future. Real Madrid.

Well he could have thought like Schuster he could use it as a stepping stone to Real Madrid but I think the Getafe job will be really really hard as if he doesn't finish higher than 15th then it may be seen as a bad job.
It will be compared to what Schuster did and if he does any worse even by Schuster's high achievements then it might set him back whereas if he took the Betis job then he'd of had more money and better players to play around with.
