Juande Ramos Slams Sevilla Squad
Juande Ramos has accused his Sevilla players of believing that they are better than they actually are, but refused to pinpoint a single reason for the team's current slump.
The Andalucian club's coach was clearly incensed by the bad attitude of some of his squad and spoke out about a lack of work ethic that is affecting the side.
Sevilla have lost five of their last six games in all competitions and talk of a crisis within the club has arisen, but Ramos was focussing on what can be done to change the situation.
"Attitude is difficult to coach. Maybe the team has lowered the rhythm at times and that we consider ourselves to be better than we actually are" he said.
"We believe that without running we can still win and that is impossible."
"The problems that we have experienced cannot be put down to a single thing, there are several factors that have had an affect.
"It is possible that the intensity and aggressiveness have gone down.
Ramos also pointed out that the distress caused by Antonio Puerta's death may be taking its toll as the squad's focus was rightly taken away from training.
"That did us a lot of damage in so many ways," he continued. "It was an atypical pre-season.
"We are working now on physical condition with half the squad because the international call-ups are complicating other aspects of our job.
"A different type of training is being done because the session in the summer were lost and we cannot take them back."

Finished 2 -0 with luis fabiano getting both goals.

Juande Ramos, the favourite to replace Martin Jol as Tottenham manager, has resigned as coach of Sevilla.
Sevilla director of football Ramon Rodriguez was in London on Thursday and it is thought he has begun negotiations with Spurs over compensation for Ramos.
Spanish football journalist Graham Hunter told BBC Radio 5 Live: "Spurs are on the verge of getting their man." According to reports from Spain the 53-year-old Ramos has agreed a four-year deal with Spurs.
Sevilla's physical trainer Marcos Alvarez has also tendered his resignation.
Ramos' contract with Sevilla had been due to expire at the end of this season.
"The now ex-Sevilla coach declined the possibility of giving a press conference at the club's training facilities," said a Sevilla statement. "He has chosen his website JuandeRamos.com :: Juan de la Cruz Ramos Cano as a means of saying goodbye to Sevilla."

Idiot imo. He makes alves stay, because he believes that he would help the side this season and then he ends up going
I don’t see the point of this. Yes the premiership is more attractive right now, but along with Monchi they really gave this sevilla side a bright future. It would’ve been interesting to see if this club could stay in the top 4 for a long period of time.
Spurs are struggling like sevilla in the league.. have no champions league football and don’t really have a better squad than Sevilla's.
Stupid move and could well end up ruining sevilla. Though sevilla aren’t run by a bunch of fools and hopefully they will act quickly to help keep sevillas season on track.

Manolo Jimenez has been appointed as the new coach of Sevilla following the departure of Juande Ramos.
Sevilla President Jose Maria del Nido acted swiftly to find a successor after Ramos offered his resignation on Friday night in order to take the vacant managerial job at Tottenham Hotspur.
Jimenez is an all-time legend among the Sevilla fans and is the record appearance-holder at the club with 354 games. He spent virtually his entire career as a player at the Rojiblancos, playing for 14 years between 1983 and 1997.
He also won 15 caps for the Spain national team during this time and was a member of the Italia 90’ World Cup squad. The 43-year-old had been coaching Sevilla B prior to being named as first-team boss, and his promotion was confirmed when he was presented to the senior squad this morning.
Outgoing tactician Ramos will certainly be a hard act to follow, having led the club to their most successful spell in 60 years.
In just over two years at the club Ramos won two UEFA Cups, the Copa del Rey, the European Super Cup and the Spanish Supercup.
Indeed until Ramos took charge, Sevilla had won no silverware since lifting the Spanish Cup in 1948. He also led the Andalusian’s to the brink of only the second La Liga title in their history last season, when they finished third, after a titanic battle with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

I though del nido had something bigger up his sleeve. Even heard quique flores was going to get the job they really dodged a bullet there lol.
Honestly they are going to struggle, but at least Jimenez won’t leave sevilla for all the money in the world

MD13: Sevilla v Mallorca
V
Date:Saturday, November 24, 2007
Time: 19:00 UK
Stadium:Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan
Previous meetings :
Sevilla 1-2 Mallorca La Liga 2006/2007
Sevilla 1-1 Mallorca La Liga 2005/2006
Sevilla 1-1 Mallorca La Liga 2004/2005
Sevilla 3-0 Mallorca La Liga 2003/2004
Going to be a very difficult game for Mallorca. They have had a great run so far this season, but haven’t been able to get a win in their last 4 games. But they have faced difficult opposition and did surprisingly well against Real Madrid,Espanyol and were off their game against Valencia/Depor.
Arango has been amazing this season and I won’t be surprised if a bigger club doesn’t try to sign him. Also they did a great bit of business in signing Guiza, who has scored 7 goals and 2 assists in 11 games so far this season, and last year for Getafe got 17 goals and 4 assists in 27 games and to think they only sold him for 5m euros Plus you all know how great ibagaza has been as well. With them 3 in attack it looks like they can cause any side in la liga problems.
Still though Sevilla have regained their form and should have a lot of confidence after beating Real Madrid,Valencia comfortably after juande Ramos’s departure. Keita has been immense for them this past month and it looks like as long as sevilla have monchi then they will still be a top club.
I think sevilla will just edge this, especially since it is at the sanchez pizjuan.

Can't really speak about this game, since it was on the same time as the barcelona v recre game. Going to watch it later on and see if sevilla were unlucky or just sh1t.
Major disappointment for them though.

Almeria 1-0 Sevilla
Another bad result for Sevilla suggests that Manolo Jimenez is probably not up to the job. They've now lost 9 games this season and won 5.
But on a positive note they're in the 2nd round of the CL.

Dani Alves was sent off after a second yellow.
after the perfect performance against arsenal I thought they are finally out of their troubles... but it looks very bad now.
"on a negative note" sevilla are 3 points above relegation.

Maresca: Our Reality Has Changed Completely
Enzo Maresca believes that Sevilla are facing a new reality as they are now concerned about a relegation scrap rather than winning the league title.
After losing against top flight newcomers Almería on Saturday, the Italian midfielder believes that the club needs a new mindset if they are to move up the table.
Sevilla were challenging to the title until the final day of last season, but this term things have changed and the club are just two points above the bottom three.
"If we were to look at the reality of the situation the it is complicated," Maresca explained.
"When we finished games before we used to ask for the results of the top teams, now we have to know about Levante, Betis and those near the bottom.
"The reality we face is not about the Champions League, nor the league and nor the UEFA Cup.
"Now, the reality is that we have to move out of the lower positions that we are in and push towards the top."
Maresca thinks that he knows the reason that Sevilla are struggling and hopes that the team can have the same mentality against whoever they are playing.
"It seems that against the bigger teams we do well, but when we have to play against a slightly lesser team, we do not start out like we should win the game," he concluded.

Sevilla started this game well with navas hitting a volley, but almeria’s backup goalkeeper was up to the task and then he saved the rebound which Kanoute hit. The young Brazilian goalkeeper was making his debut after Sevilla said Almeria couldn’t play Cobeno who was loaned to them from Sevilla. What a mistake that was, since Alves had the game of his life. He then produced a great reflex save after his own defender pulido nearly headered the ball into his own goal.
Daniel Alves then got his second red card in 2 consecutive games. But it didn’t seem to have that much of an effect with Capel nearly scoring after a low drive to the right of alves who was equal with it.
But then Almeria slowly started to control the game with their one man advantage. With Uche’s header just going wide and then they scored with Acasiete’s header going through the legs of palop.
Sevilla are in big trouble now. They are now lying 3 points above the relegation zone and I don’t think they stand a chance of getting a champions league spot this season. They are now 12 points behind Atletico Madrid who have the 4th cl spot.

In just over an hour Osasuna - Sevilla starts, Sevilla must start to get their form back on track if they want a high finish.
Osasuna smashed Depor away last matchday and I'll back them to win this one.
EDIT: Finished 1-1.
