The Andalucian side has signed Aquivaldo Mosquera from Mexican club Pachuca...

Sevilla have confirmed the signing of Colombian defender Aquivaldo Mosquera from Pachuca.

The 26 year old yesterday penned a five year deal at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan and is set to join the rest of the rojiblanco squad in Marbella for pre-season training.

Despite missing the Copa Ameica due to injury, the former Atletico Nacional man was seen as hot property after two fine seasons in the Mexican League.

Indeed, he was named as the finest player in his position in all of South America in 2006.

Mosquera is Sevilla's fifth summer signing, and the second defender after Khalid Boulahrouz, on loan from Chelsea.

Alves sets sights on Chelsea move

Brazilian right-back Daniel Alves has pleaded with Sevilla to consider an offer from Chelsea. The £20m-rated 24-year-old says he wants to join a bigger club - and Chelsea is his preferred destination.

"It's a wonderful opportunity and I don't want to let it pass," said Alves, whose agent has spoken to several European clubs.

"Sevilla should look after me. In the four years I have been here I've given my best. I just want them to listen."

He added: "We've been looking at Chelsea's offer for a while and that's the one that interests me."

Alves wants his future resolved by 15 August when Sevilla play AEK Athens in a Champions League qualifier.

"If I play for Sevilla in that match, I won't be able to play in the Champions League for another team so I hope everything can be sorted out as soon as possible," he stated.

Alves has been at Sevilla for four-and-a-half seasons and played a prominent role as the Rojiblancos won back-to-back Uefa Cups.

Right-back was a problematic area for Chelsea last season, with Paulo Ferreira, Geremi and Lassana Diarra filling the slot at various times.

For Sevilla it wouldn't be the end of the world to sell him. £20m is a huge fee and they have Hinkel on the bench so don't necessarily need to buy anyone to replace him.

Sevilla snub £20m bids for Alves

Spanish side Sevilla have rejected two bids of more than £20m from unknown clubs for Daniel Alves, who has made it clear he wants to join Chelsea.

The 24-year-old Brazilian right-back recently said joining Chelsea would be a "wonderful opportunity and I don't want to let it pass".

But on Friday president Jose Maria del Nido said: "Sevilla has rejected two offers for Daniel.

"One was for 31.5m euros (£21.3m) and the other for 35m euros (£23.7m)."

Alves, who has been at Sevilla for four-and-a-half seasons, has previously argued that "Sevilla should look after me".

He added: "In the four years I have been here I've given my best. I just want them to listen."

But Del Nido insisted: "We fulfilled the promise of listening, valuing and, in this case, turning down the offers that came in for Daniel.

"We do not have any problem with Daniel, who is a magnificent professional who will defend to the death the shirt of Sevilla."

Wow, that's massive money, if deployed properly though he's worth it.

Also if it is Chelsea with 1 of the offers it shows Abramovich is still willing to put up funds to back Mourinho... it would be like £40M on Malouda and Alves...

Even for the biggest guns, its not easy to bring in the best players today, even Sevilla is not a rich club.

But if Alves himself is going out and say he wants a new challenge, then the transfer will be much closer.

Sevilla is a great club. They've done well in La Liga and won the UEFA Cup two times on row. They shall play CL the coming season too.....but I understand if Alves wants to play for clubs like Chelsea, Madrid, Barca if they're interested.

The Dani Alves rumours have showed up for Madrid again too, since they may can use him on the midfielder right position and Robinho continuing his left position....but this is just speculations in Spanish media.

Fredi Kanoute has signed a one-year contract extension with Sevilla.

The Mali international has been linked with a number of the continent's top clubs this summer after starring for Sevilla last season.

However, he has now pledged his future to Sevilla, penning a deal that ties him to the club until 2010.

Kanoute, who joined Sevilla from Tottenham in 2005, has so far scored 43 goals in 96 appearances for the Spanish club.

He is set to feature in the second leg of the Super Cup against Real Madrid this weekend after helping Sevilla to a 1-0 victory on Saturday.

He was linked heavily to Portsmouth in the summer, possibly due to him wanting a larger deal and now he's got it. He's just turning 30 tho so last season may have been his prime.

Arouna Kone is set to join Sevilla, according to reports in the Dutch and Spanish media.

Sevilla made an initial 9million euros (£6million) bid for the PSV Eindhoven striker and negotiations are now at an advanced stage.

The Spanish side's sporting director Ramon Rodriguez is understood to have travelled to Holland to finalise the deal.

Kone has previously snubbed offers from Shakhtar Donetsk and Galatasaray but could be attracted by a move to Sevilla.

Sevilla are looking to upgrade their attack with the signing of Kone ahead of a UEFA Champions League campaign.

That'd be a great signing, I really rate Kone. He's quick, is a good dribbler, with good technique and a decent finish.
