Stelios was a great player for Bolton and I think Teymourian might have been a decent one under Allardyce too.

Allardyce was stupid to take the Newcastle job, he was building something at Bolton, imo he was maybe this season off of getting in a player or two that could help push into that top 4. I don't think the team would have coped well with CL and Prem duties, but it's the money it brings that counts.

Megson has done well to keep the side up, but he's really not the sort of guy to take the club forward imo.

They should have hold on to Stelios IMO. Campos is a key with his long throws up to Davies but... he ain't good enough anymore.

Bolton Wanderers are eyeing Manchester City striker Emile Mpenza. Rachid Tajmout said: "Because Emile wants to stay in England, I am negotiating with Bolton in the Premier League, two clubs in the Championship, Reading and Ipswich, as well as Leicester who have been relegated.

Gary Megson has sounded out Sporting Lisbon for star midfielder Miguel Veloso. The Sun says Megson has been told to cough up £16million for Sporting's international midfield star Veloso, 21. Bolton boss Megson turned to Portugal for his first transfer move of the summer but Sporting slapped a huge tag of 20m Euros on their man.

They can forget about signing quality of players like Veloso. He will not leave for a weaker team.

Bolton Wanderers have signed Sweden striker Johan Elmander on a three-year deal from French club Toulouse for an undisclosed transfer fee.

The move sees Norway striker Daniel Braaten going the other way in a deal believed to be worth about £10m.

"He is a player who will get us goals and create other opportunities for his team-mates," Bolton manager Gary Megson said of the 27-year-old Elmander.

He started in two of Sweden's three Euro 2008 group matches.

Megson has been tracking Elmander's progress since January, when he tried to sign him as a replacement for the Chelsea-bound Nicolas Anelka.

The former Brondby striker netted a hat-trick against Bordeaux in the final match of the 2007 season, guiding his side to third in France's Ligue 1 as well as clinching a Champions League qualifying slot.

But the 2008 season finished in complete contrast to the year before as Toulouse narrowly avoided relegation, finishing in 17th place.

Elmander made his Sweden debut in 2002 and has featured 38 times for his country, scoring 11 goals.

He becomes the second new signing at the Reebok Stadium after the £5m capture of Fabrice Muamba from Birmingham.

And Megson said he expected more new faces before the start of next season.

"I am still on the lookout for other players to boost the quality of our squad," he said.

Bolton manager Gary Megson has reinforced his backroom staff by appointing former Southampton boss Steve Wigley as head coach.

Wigley, who also enjoyed a spell as assistant manager and first team coach at Manchester City, will link up with Wanderers when he returns from holiday.

He will combine his duties at the Reebok Stadium with his role as a coach with the England Under-21 set-up.

Wigley, 46, took up his role with the Football Association in August 2007.

Wigley had a brief spell as caretaker manager of Southampton in February 2004 following Gordon Strachan's departure and then got the job full time for the start of the 2004/05 season.

However, he only lasted until December having won just three of his 17 matches in charge.
