Anelka hints at exit
Quote:
Nicolas Anelka concedes it is 'possible' that he could leave Bolton Wanderers before the close of the transfer window.
The French striker has been linked with Manchester rivals City and United following Bolton's disappointing start to the new season.
He has dismissed a return to French football with champions Lyon, but Anelka acknowledges he could be sold.
"Even if I feel comfortable at Bolton, the club needs money, so it is possible that I will leave before the close of the transfer window," Anelka told Le Journal du Dimanche.
"I have nothing against Lyon.
Qualities
"They are a good club, but I repeat it another time, I won't come back and play in France.
"It is a definitive 'no'. So there is zero per cent chance of me joining Lyon."
Bolton boss Sammy Lee, who could also lose El Hadji Diouf, hinted Anelka could be on his way after drawing up a contingency plan.
Lee told the Bolton News: "You don't want to lose quality players, but other things dictate.
"It would be remiss of me to get involved in the speculation, but all I would say is that everybody's aware of his qualities and we are just making sure we have the right preparation, to cover for every eventuality."

Bolton Wanderers have offered Abdoulaye Faye an improved contract. Wanderers are prepared to make the midfielder one of their best-paid players, but his former boss Sam Allardyce aims to top that and take him to Newcastle for £2million.

Nicolas Anelka has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by signing a new four-year contract at the club.
I bet there is a release clause in that contract.

Talks over a new contract for Jussi Jaaskelainen have stalled, according to the Bolton goalkeeper's agent. Jaaskelainen has been one of the most consistent keepers in the Premier League in recent seasons but will be out of contract at The Reebok Stadium next summer.

Bolton defender Jlloyd Samuel will be out for six weeks after suffering an injury in their defeat to Birmingham. The former Aston Villa defender was making his sixth-straight Premier League start for Wanderers after his summer move from Villa Park. However, the 26-year-old was carried off in the second half, tearing his hamstring whilst sprinting for the ball.

El Hadji Diouf has announced he will no longer play for Senegal due to organisational issues. The Bolton striker, who has been capped over 30 times and recently captained Senegal, brought a halt to his international career on Monday. Diouf, 26, explained he is quitting Senegal because of his dissatisfaction with the way the national team is currently run.

El Hadji Diouf has denied quitting international football, according to press reports in Senegal's capital Dakar on Wednesday. This latest twist comes after Diouf was quoted two weeks ago as blaming an administration crisis blighting the West African country's national team for his decision to retire from international football. But the Senegalese captain has now said his comments were 'distorted' and he has not quit playing for his country.

Archie Knox has been placed in temporary charge for Bolton's game against Arsenal on Saturday. Bolton parted company with Sammy Lee on Wednesday after a disappointing start which sees them sitting 19th in the Premier League. Knox, who was brought to The Reebok Stadium as a coaching co-ordinator in the summer, will take charge of first-team affairs while Lee's successor is sought. The former Scotland Under 21 coach will be assisted in the job by first-team coaches Ricky Sbragia and Jimmy Phillips.

Steve Bruce has confirmed to Sky Sports News that Birmingham have rejected an approach from Bolton for his services. The Blues refused permission for The Trotters to discuss their vacant managerial post with the former Manchester United defender. Bruce has emerged as Bolton's number one target to replace Sammy Lee, who departed The Reebok Stadium by mutual consent on Wednesday.
Paul Jewell is be one of the favourites for the position, while Adrian Boothroyd and John Collins are other names in the frame.
