Middlesbrough goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer picked up a bang to his knee during Australia's clash with Argentina. Schwarzer underwent treatment during and after the game in Melbourne, which was won 1-0 by Argentina. He will be assessed by Boro's medical team when he returns to their training ground, as he arrives back in England on Wednesday. Schwarzer received the blow to his knee after colliding with Argentina's Lionel Messi in the second half of the friendly. The 34-year-old had treatment on the pitch but did finish the game.

Jeremie Aliadiere is facing a spell on the sidelines after damaging his hamstring in Saturday's defeat at West Ham. The summer signing from Arsenal limped out of the action during the first half of the 3-0 reverse at Upton Park. He will undergo a scan to determine the extent of the injury and the club will then be able to put a timescale on his return to action.

Gareth Southgate says that he may be forced to draft young forwards Tom Craddock and Ben Hutchinson into his first-team.
Having already lost Jeremie Aliadiere for around six weeks to a hamstring injury, Mido and Tuncay Sanli joined him on the sidelines after suffering knocks in the derby draw with Sunderland. Tuncay has a feared fracture to his leg, whilst Mido is reported to have a hamstring injury too - which would mean the duo are unlikely to play again until November at the earliest. That leaves just Lee Dong-gook available to Southgate, so he is now being forced to look at Boro's youngsters once again.

Middlesbrough have received a huge boost with the news that Mido and Tuncay Sanli do not have serious injuries - although Julio Arca has ligament damage. The two - who started together up front against Sunderland - are now in-line to play against Everton on Sunday.

Luke Young feels that now he is fully fit, he can stake his claim for a place in the England squad. The former Charlton defender moved to the Riverside from the Addicks in the summer, but injured his thigh in pre-season. However he is now over the injury, and feels good performances for Boro could warrant a recall to the England side.

Middlesbrough are tracking Olympique Lyon goalkeeper Gregory Coupet. The Teessiders face losing current No 1 Mark Schwarzer when his contract expires in the summer.
And though Coupet signed a new deal with French champions Lyon last season, the agreement contains a £3 million release clause with the 35-year-old - first choice for Les Blues - now keen to leave his homeland.

Emanuel Pogatetz has told Middlesbrough he is ready and willing to extend his current contract at The Riverside.
The Austrian defender is currently approaching the end of his third season at Boro and has won many admirers in the North East after making 79 Premier League appearances.
Pogatetz's current contract expires in 2010 but having captained Boro in recent games, the 25-year-old is now looking to stay on Teesside for a prolonged period of time.

Gary O'Neil will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing knee surgery. The Teessiders confirmed today that the 24-year-old, who was injured during Saturday's 1-1 draw at Tottenham, is out of this weekend's vital Barclays Premier League clash with Bolton and will not play again before the end of the current campaign. However, O'Neil, a £5million signing from Portsmouth, is expected to be fit for the start of next season.

Gaizka Mendieta has said farewell to Middlesbrough, claims the Daily Mail. The former Spain international played the final game of the season for Middlesbrough's second string as they held Premier reserve League runners-up Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Riverside.
Mendieta, who has not featured for Gareth Southgate's first team this season and who played just seven times during the last campaign, looks certain to leave Boro in the summer after five years at the club.

Sporting Lisbon are set to step up their interest in Fabio Rochemback, although he is yet to find out if he is wanted by Middlesbrough.
Rochemback's current contract is due to expire this summer, but Boro have a two-year option on the Brazilian which they have until May 1 to take.
Rochemback's representatives have held talks with a number of clubs from Portugal, Spain and Brazil.
His former club Sporting have emerged as the most likely candidates for his signature - but everyone is waiting on Boro - who do not need the player's permission to exercise the option.
