Cesena have appointed ex-Atalanta Coach Giovanni Vavassori after the dismissal of Fabrizio Castori.
The Emilia-Romagna side are propping up Serie B after a dismal start to the season and lost faith in long-serving boss Castori after a humiliating thrashing at the hands of local rivals Rimini.
The new man Vavassori led Avellino up to the Cadetti via the Serie C play-offs last term before surprisingly quitting the club days before the start of the new season.
The 55-year-old’s greatest achievement so far has been guiding Atalanta to Serie B promotion and a seventh-placed finish in 2000-01.
Vavassori will be officially unveiled at the Hotel Casali in Cesena tomorrow at 11am.
