Good move for both parties, Foggia needs to play more.
He is one of these players, who could become the future of Italy, we just don't know..

Friendlies: Acquafresca shines Thursday 26 July, 2007
Cagliari thrashed amateur side Maia Alta 5-1 with youngsters Robert Acquafresca and Marco Mancosu bagging braces.
The opening goal came after 16 minutes when summer signing Alessandro Matri pounced on a bobbling ball after a Davide Marchini cross.
After the interval, the Isolani made it two from the penalty spot. The lively Mancosu saw his through ball blocked with a hand and young gun Acquafresca cooly converted the spot-kick.
The 19-year-old Azzurrini, who is co-owned by Inter, doubled his tally with a tap-in from a Mancosu pass just minutes later and showed why the Sardinians have put so much faith in him.
Mancosu is also a bright hope for the future and hit his second after a precise pass from Alessandro Budel following good work from Argentine forward Joacquin Larrivey, who arrived from Huracan in July.
The Eccellenza side mustered an impressive headed consolation goal with four minutes remaining, but Rossoblu boss Marco Giampaolo will be satisfied with the day’s work.
Cagliari: First Half: Marruocco; Ferri, Bizera, Canini, Del Grosso; Marchini, Parola, Conti, Fini; Matri, Acquafresca
Second Half: Fortin; Pisano, Lopez, Bianco, Magliocchetti; Mancosu, Biondini, Budel, D'Agostino; Larrivey, Acquafresca

Cagliari risk points penalty Saturday 25 August, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Calciopoli may be over, but Cagliari risk a penalty of up to six points for taking legal action against one of their own directors.
It is against the rules in Italy for any registered sport professional to take legal action against another member without first seeking permission from the authorities.
The Sardinians twice violated that clause during a row with former director general Oreste Cinquini in their bid to rescind his contract, applying to the local employment tribunal rather than the sporting chiefs.
Cinquini won that ruling and was awarded 200,000 Euros, but Cagliari challenged it by applying to the tribunal in Milan.
An inquest has been opened and, if Cagliari are found guilty of taking legal action without seeking the permission of the football Federation, they could be penalised by anything from three to six points.

minor update on cagliari, seems some legal issues here.

Giampaolo calls for consistency Thursday 13 September, 2007
Cagliari boss Marco Giampaolo has called for his side to build on their Week 2 performance against Juventus as they travel to Parma.
The Isolani are amongst the favourites for the drop this term, but they eased past Napoli on the opening day and were only denied a point against Juve by a last-gasp goal.
Swiss-born tactician Giampaolo seems to be heartened by the early signs, but is demanding that the Rossoblu continue to impress as they face another side expected to struggle.
“You only get results by working hard consistently,” the ex-Ascoli boss told L’Unione Sarda. “I want another 30 performances like the one against Juventus.
“I told the lads at the start of the season that to have a good campaign we would have to work 10 or 15 days in a row.”
One man attracting plaudits is Pasquale Foggia, who featured in Roberto Donadoni’s Azzurri squad.
Despite rumours in the Press that Liverpool are ready to pounce for the Lazio-owned winger, Giampaolo insists that he will spend the rest of the season at the Stadio Sant’Elia.
“The club has told me that none of the speculation is true and there will only be arrivals in January, not departures,” he stressed.
“It’s too early to talk about transfers as our sights are still set on survival after just two games.”

Giampaolo on the brink? Tuesday 13 November, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cagliari could be the latest side to lose faith with their Coach as rumours suggest that Marco Giampaolo will be replaced with a familiar face within the week.
The Swiss-born tactician is struggling at the Stadio Sant’Elia and has collected just nine points this term – two wins, three draws and six defeats.
President Massimo Cellino is currently in Miami, but there are whispers that he contacted director general Nicola Salerno to discuss firing Giampaolo after the 3-0 defeat against Sampdoria on November 4.
The favourite to replace the 40-year-old boss is wily veteran Nedo Sonetti, the man who led the Sardinians to safety in 2005-06 in his second spell at the club.
The Livorno native had been strongly linked with the Reggina post before the appointment of Renzo Ulivieri and is looking for a job after leaving Ascoli at the end of last season.
Giampaolo would be the fourth boss to leave his post after Andrea Mandorlini parted company with Siena yesterday to join ex-Reggina man Massimo Ficcadenti and Livorno failure Fernando Orsi at the job centre.

Sonetti: I can save Cagliari Wednesday 14 November, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
New Cagliari boss Nedo Sonetti is relishing the chance to turn the Isolani’s fortunes around in his third spell at the club.
The veteran tactician replaced the hapless Marco Giampaolo yesterday with the Sardinians languishing in joint last place.
The Livorno native guided Cagliari to safety in 2005-06 and has been charged with the same task this time around.
“I got the call on Friday and I’m very enthusiastic - I can’t wait to get going,” Sonetti declared.
“We are looking to secure survival, but next year we will have bigger aims.
“We are bottom, but with four other sides and there are another six or seven that could be fighting to the wire for safety.
“I came into a depressed atmosphere as is normal when a boss leaves, but we are ready to respond.”
While the Stadio Sant’Elia outfit have looked dangerously flat in recent outings, Sonetti is waiting before he casts judgement over the existing personnel.
“I’ll have to see what’s best for the players I have at my disposal,” he stressed. “The same goes for reinforcements – we will have to see what is needed.
“There’s time to work and the change needs to be made in the head rather than the legs.”
The new man showed his trademark fighting spirit when asked if he was scared of his first opponents Milan.
“They should be scared,” he grinned. “They’re in trouble!”

Sonetti makes Sardinians sweat Saturday 17 November, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Nedo Sonetti has been back on the Cagliari bench for less than a week, but is already running the players ragged!
The tactician was already in charge of the squad last season, but stepped in again this week to replace the fired Marco Giampaolo.
“He was a hard taskmaster and he hasn’t changed a bit!” laughed defender Michele Ferri when asked how Sonetti was settling back in.
“He is in great form. We all know him, the Coach is a determined person with a very strong character.”
There are also big tactical changes that come with the replacement on the bench, revealed Ferri.
“Giampaolo asked the wide players to push forward a lot, but with Sonetti we will be more anchored to the back and still support the strikers.
“The way we achieve that is moving the whole centre of the squad higher up the field so we won’t let our opponents hit us on the counter.
“I am sorry for Giampaolo, he just paid the price for the fact the results did not come.”
The Sardinians have just nine points from 11 games so far, having won two, drawn three and lost the other six.
They are tied in bottom place in Serie A alongside Siena, Reggina, Livorno and Empoli. Their worst problems have been at the back, where they have conceded 18 goals.
“Last season our defensive record was among the best in Serie A, but the figures show that is not the case this time around,” continued Ferri.
“We cannot afford to be complacent here. We need to do well and turn the situation around. We knew it would be difficult and have to take it one game at a time.”

Sonetti quits Cagliari – report Wednesday 19 December, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Struggling Cagliari have been thrown into disarray after reports emerged that Coach Nedo Sonetti has handed in his resignation.
The veteran tactician has only been in charge of the side for five games after trigger-happy President Massimo Cellino showed Marco Giampaolo the door.
However, the switch has proved less than successful with Sonetti picking up just one point so far during his third stint at the Sardinian club.
Cagliari are set to hold talks with Sonetti this morning and then decide who will take over the unappetising hot-seat.
There is the serious possibility that Cellino will recall Giampaolo, just as he sensationally did last term, seeing as he is still contracted to the club until 2010.
However, that may prove problematic as it is understood that the two parties had held talks regarding the rescission of that deal during the last few weeks.

Giampaolo back at Cagliari Wednesday 19 December, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s official – Marco Giampaolo has been recalled to the Cagliari bench after Nedo Sonetti quit the outfit on Wednesday.
The Swiss-born tactician has been reinstalled as Coach just five games after he was axed by demanding Rossoblu chief Massimo Cellino.
“Nedo Sonetti has resigned as Coach of Cagliari Calcio,” read a brief statement posted on their official website.
“The club have recalled Marco Giampaolo. While we await his arrival, this morning’s training session will be taken by the technical staff.”
Giampaolo, who made his name at Ascoli two years ago, is no stranger to such a Sardinian shuffle given that he was also sacked mid-campaign last term before being brought back.
Sonetti arrived for his third spell at the club five games ago, but had only managed to collect one point during that time.
That run or poor results has seen the one-time Scudetto winners fall to the bottom of the standings.
Cagliari lost 2-0 at home to leaders Inter on Sunday night and will close 2007 with a daunting away trip to Fiorentina.

Cagliari: Sonetti stays Thursday 20 December, 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The chaos at Cagliari continues as the club have decided to reject Coach Nedo Sonetti’s resignation.
The veteran tactician stepped in for Marco Giampaolo in November, but was angered by the uncertainty surrounding his position.
President Massimo Cellino tried to call Giampaolo back to the Stadio Sant’Elia – where he is under contract until 2010 – but the Swiss-born Coach refused, leaving the side bottom of the table and without a leader.
However, a statement on the club’s official website states that Sonetti’s resignation will not be accepted and he will be forced to remain at the helm.
The situation adds to the air of crisis at the club where a violent rift between midfielders Pasquale Foggia and Davide Marchini has already divided the dressing room and is unresolved.
In the last two years, Cagliari have changed Coach on five occasions – a figure that will become six should Sonetti manage to free himself from Cellino’s grip.
