Fabian Gerber was missing from 1. FSV Mainz 05's special training camp in Westerburg. He's just of many that the club will have to do without.
The 26-year-old is sick and cannot take part in team training because of the danger of his illness being contagious. Following a medical check-up on Tuesday a decision will be reached as to whether he follows the team to training camp.
Azaouagh and Noveski are also not well
Mimoun Azaouagh and Nikolce Noveski have also reported illness. Neither of the two players can do training but did accompany the team to Westerburg. The decision on when the two will resume training sessions will be made on Tuesday.
Christof Babatz is having injury problems since he was injured in the home match against Werder Bremen. Babatz is complaining of pain in the area of his Achilles tendon. The midfielder will receive treatment in Westerburg.
Milorad Pekovic will be joining the team on Tuesday in Westerburg after getting a free day on Monday to take care of personal business.
Demirtas undergoes medical examination
Christian Demirtas will rejoin the team on Tuesday for training. On Monday he was undergoing a medical examination with his personal doctor in Switzerland.
Keeper Jonas Sela and Fatmir Pupalovic stayed behind in Mainz and are listed in the B-team line-up for the Regional League match at Eintracht Trier on Wednesday. Mario Vrancic is also not with the team after playing with the A Junior squad on Sunday.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mainz are having a poor season so far and this isn't going to help.

German international defender Manuel Friedrich is still undecided as to whether he will leave Mainz at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old is contracted to the Bruchweg Stadion outfit until June 2008 but media reports claimed he had received several offers from other clubs.
However, Friedrich is yet to make a final decision on his future and insists he could extend his stay at Mainz.
"I have not yet said that I will be leaving," Friedrich told Kicker.
"I'm still thinking things over - whether it would make sense to move to another team or to commit my future to Mainz."
Friedrich admits Mainz coach Jurgen Klopp will play a major role in his final decision.
He added: "If he says there is no point me making a move, or joining a particular club, then I will listen to what he has to say."

Friedrich will leave for sure if Mainz continues playing like this, because they might get relegated.
