Bundesliga outfit 1.FC Nürnberg are taking a look at Australian prospect Dario Vidosic on a trial basis.

Vidosic, who turns 20 in April, is currently with Australian side Queensland Roar. The 1.84-metre tall attacking midfielder also possesses a Croatian passport.

Schroth training in a mask

Missing from Monday training were the injured Joshua Kennedy and Jaouhar Mnari, alongside Marek Mintal, who is industriously working his way back to full fitness.

Back in training, complete with protective face mask, was Markus Schroth, having had his nose straightened last Friday. Schroth suffered a concussion during FCN's 2-1 defeat in Mainz.

Default Kristiansen: 'I have to go'

FC Nurnberg's Jan Kristiansen says he is becoming increasingly frustrated with life at the Franken Stadion.

The Denmark international has made just nine starts since signing for the club in January last year, and he says he is looking to move on when the transfer window re-opens.

"In case my situation at the club doesn't improve, I have to move on in the summer," he said.

"I have to go. I need to play some football soon and Nurnberg is not the only club in the world.

"I am just concentrating on giving everything in training.

"At some point, I will sort everything out with my agent, but that will be towards the end of the season."

Borussia Dortmund 0-0 Nürnberg

Nürnberg dropping further more points and seriously risk their great, no.5 position. With a win against Gladbach tomorrow, Leverkusen can steal their position.

Default Glauber back in training

1. FC Nürnberg, currently sixth in the Bundesliga, have been handed a welcome boost in their quest for a place in Europe next season.

Defender Glauber is back in training after three months.

Out with groin problems

The Brazilian had been out with groin problems and could return in Saturday's match against Hertha BSC.

"He has worked his way back step by step. I'll keep an eye on him this week, but I think he is free of pain now", FCN head coach Hans Meyer said.

Nurnberg 2 - 1 Hertha BSC (4' Galasek, 59' Engelhardt / 69' Gimenez)

Nurnberg take 3 very important points that keep them still in race for UEFA Cup next season.

Historically, Nurnberg are the 2nd biggest club in Germany (where you aware of this fact T-Red ? ), so finishing in the top 5 is the least their fans expect

^ No, I didn't to be honest. I always thought that team is Gladbach.

Quote:
In 2004, the honor of "Verdiente Meistervereine" (roughly "distinguished champion clubs") was introduced, following a custom first practised by the Italian club Juventus, to recognize sides that have won multiple championships or other honours by the display of gold stars on their team crests and jerseys. Each country's usage is unique and in Germany the practice is to award one star for three titles, two stars for five titles, and three stars for ten titles.

The former East German side BFC Dynamo Berlin laid claim to the three stars of a ten-time champion. They petitioned the league to have their DDR-Oberliga titles recognized, but received no reply. Dynamo eventually took matters into their own hands and emblazoned their jerseys with three stars. This caused some debate given what may be the tainted nature of their championships under the patronage of East Germany's secret police, the Stasi. The issue also affects other former East German and pre-Bundesliga champions. In November 2005, the DFB allowed all former champions to display a single star inscribed with the number of titles, including all German men's titles since 1903, women's titles since 1974 and East German titles.[2]

The DFB format only applies to teams playing below the Bundesliga (the top two divisions), since there the DFL conventions remain in force. BFC Dynamo Berlin have not followed this guideline and continue to wear three stars, rather than a single star inscribed with the number 10. Greuther Fürth unofficially display three (silver) stars for pre-war titles in spite of being in the Bundesliga second division.

The current (as of February 2007) officially-sanctioned Bundesliga stars are:

♦♦♦ Bayern München (20)
♦♦♦ BFC Dynamo (10)
♦♦ 1. FC Nürnberg (9)
♦♦ Dynamo Dresden (8 )
♦♦ Schalke 04 (7)
♦♦ Borussia Dortmund (6)
♦♦ FC Viktoria Frankfurt (6)
♦♦ Borussia Mönchengladbach (5)
♦ Werder Bremen (4)
♦ VfB Stuttgart (4)
♦ 1. FC Kaiserslautern (4)
♦ 1. FC Magdeburg (3)
♦ FC Erzgebirge Aue (3)
♦ VfB Leipzig (3)
♦ Carl Zeiss Jena (3)
♦ Hamburger SV (3)
♦ SpVgg Greuther Fürth (3)
♦ 1.FC Köln (3)

Default Nürnberg defender forced out

1. FC Nürnberg will miss one of their defensive regulars for the next three to four weeks after he ruptured a muscle fibre.

Dominik Reinhardt sustained a rupture of a muscle fibre in his right thigh as was revealed through a scan by Nuremberg´s team doctor Dr. Jochen Gruber on Monday.

Doubtful for the DFB Cup

Reinhardt suffered the injury last Saturday in the Bundesliga match against Hertha BSC (which Nuremberg won 2-1) and had to be replaced after 28 minutes by Matthew Spiranovic.

Reinhardt is currently receiving injections, he will not have to undergo an operation. Nuremberg´s right-back who, until Saturday, had not yet missed a single match minute all season is now likely to be out for three to four weeks.

This would also mean him missing the DFB Cup semi-final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

Default Reinhardt replacement still a secret

1. FC Nürnberg coach Hans Meyer will be without Dominik Reinhardt for Sunday's trip to Werder Bremen. The defender has a torn thigh muscle.

On the plus side for Meyer, Robert Vittek returns after suspension. Elsewhere, Marek Nikl comes in for Matthew Spiranovic, who played for the U-19s in Thursday's 5-3 defeat in Kaiserslautern.

At Friday's press conference, Meyer was keeping his cards close to his chest as to who would replace Reinhardt at right-back.

Saenko close to a suspension

One factor for consideration, however, is that were Ivan Saenko to be booked on Sunday, he would miss the next home match against Alemannia Aachen.

Werder Bremen 1-0 FC Nürnberg

A goal from Markus Rosenberg in the 2nd half secured all 3 points for the home side. The victory lifts Bremen up into second place and they are now only 2 points behind leaders Schalke 04.

Robert Vittek wasted the best chance for Nürnberg when he missed a good chance in the 23rd minute. However, it was the Swedish substitute Rosenberg who won the game with a cheeky back heel.

I think Nurnberg will finish in 5th place this season, they have a good team and shown that they can beat the top teams.

Default FCN striker's return date uncertain

1. FC Nürnberg will have to play without striker Robert Vittek for an unknown period of time.

The Slovak may have torn a muscle in the 0-1 defeat against Werder Bremen. Vratislav Gresko is also currently out.

Vittek had to be carried off the pitch on a stretcher at the 70th minute in Weser Stadium. An MRI is to be conducted on Tuesday by the club doctor in order to determine the extent of the injury to the right thigh.

Gresko: feared injury not confirmed

It is completely unknown right now when Vittek can play again. The international player is second on the internal scoring list of FCN, with four goals and seven assists.

For Vratislav Gresko however, the fear that he tore a muscle in his left leg was not confirmed.

The Slovak, who will undergo another ultrasound on Tuesday, may have only suffered a serious strain but will still be out for the time being.
