Hertha BSC have lost a friendly against Polish top team GKS Belchatow 2-1.
Hertha rested their regular players, giving fringe and reserve team players a chance to impress.
Boguski gave Belchatow, who are currently top of the Polish top flight, the lead with a strike into the top corner after just three minutes.
Lakic equaliser
Srdjan Lakic equalised just two minutes later after great work by Bilal Cubukcu and Sascha Schrödter.
Belchatow won the match ten minutes from time when Nowak scored with a diving header.
Hertha line-up: Stuhr Ellegaard - Owusu-Ansah (Covic 46), R. Müller (Morack 46), Schorch, Steinwarth - Schmidt, Cairo, Cubukcu (Traore 60), C. Müller - Schrödter (Kraus 46), Lakic.

Well, they played with reserves against Poland's top team and lost 2-1. Doesn't sound bad at all. It just tells the superiority of German football comparing it with the Polish football. I wonder what would Bayern reserves do to this Polish team, haha.

I was pissed off at the board for letting Stefan Maierhofer (of the reserves) go to Austria.

Actually he didn't move to an Austrian team but he moved to TuS Koblenz (a team which plays in Bundesliga 2).
And he was sold.

Hertha doesn't seem to be stabil. They win one match, the next one they loose and so. Tonight they lost 2-0 to Bundesliga leaders Schalke.

If Pantelic doesn't score, Hertha usually loses.

VfL Wolfsburg have snapped up a promising young talent for the coming season in the shape of Hertha BSC Berlin's Ashkan Dejagah.
The 21-year-old German U-21 international will join Wolfsburg for the start of the 2007-2008 season on a free contract and has signed up until June 30th, 2010.
Keeping a close eye
The attacking midfielder, who can also be deployed as a deep-lying forward, has made his way up through the ranks of successive German national youth sides and has established himself as a first-team regular at Hertha this season, scoring his first Bundesliga goal in the process.
Wolfsburg managing director Klaus Fuchs said of the move, "It's great that we've been able to capture a young player with such potential. VfL Wolfsburg have been keeping a close eye on Ashkan Dejagah for some time now, most particularly his recent performances for the U-21s and for Hertha Berlin. He has a very promising future."
B-youth champion
Dejagah, who was born in Tehran, has also played for Berlin sides Reinckendorfer Füchse and Tennis Borussia. In 2000 he won a B-youth German title and he has represented Germany U-19s at the European Championships.

Hertha Berlin were leading 1-0 in the first half, but everything changed in the second half. Former Bremen players Zidan and Andreasen scored to secure another important win for Mainz, as they're seriously doing the maximum to avoid relegation.
Hertha BSC Berlin 1-2 Mainz (21' Dardai / 54' Zidan (pen), 64' Andreasen)

Zecke: "If not this year when?"
Hertha BSC's Andreas "Zecke" Neuendorf is one of the most colourful Bundesliga players. Here's an interview with the club's website.
Question: Zecke, Hertha suffered their first home defeat of the season against Mainz. Does it still bother you three days afterwards?
Zecke: Yes. Usually I am able to put such things behind me quickly, but the defeat is still bugging me.
Question: Hertha combined well during the first half, but stopped after the break; why was that?
Zecke: Mainz found their way into the game after the break, while we just lobbed long balls up front. We were in charge, but Mainz were more effective. They pulled a goal back through a penalty which should never have been given. After that, Mainz put us under pressure. It is easy to assess a game after the final whistle has been blown, but sometimes during a game, wrong decisions are made.
Question: Hertha face two games in Stuttgart. Is that an advantage or a disadvantage?
Zecke: Both I would think. I would rather have played the DFB Cup game first, because for me personally that is the more important game of the two, which doesn't mean that we will gift them the three points on Friday.
