Bundesliga, Matchday 30 | PREVIEW
Hannover – Hertha Berlin
Two teams with not a great deal to play for meet at the AWD Arena with Hannover hosting Hertha Berlin. The home side have had the better season and lie in ninth place, but are already turning their attentions to next season with the recent signing of Jan Schlaudraff from Bayern Munich.
Hertha have struggled this season when missing striker Marko Pantelic, who has scored 11 goals and he could return to action this weekend. Trainer Lucien could certainly do with the Serbian as Hertha haven’t won in their last seven outings.

Hannover 2-2 Hertha Berlin
It was a game of two halves between Hannover and Hertha Berlin with the home side scoring twice in the first half, with the visitors grabbing two in the second.
An own goal from von Steve von Bergen brought Hannover the opening goal at the AWD Arena. Szabolcs Huszti took control of the ball before passing to Bruggink. The Dutch midfielder spotted Mike Hanke who shot but saw a huge deflection from the defender take the ball into the net.
With Hertha still trying to recover from the first goal Hannover grabbed a second on 26 minutes through Stajner. A communication problem between Drobny and Simunic saw the defender head past the keeper and Stajner just waltzed through to poke into the empty net.
Ten minutes into the second half though and the visitors were given a way back into the game from the penalty spot after handball from Ismael. Midfielder Sofian Chahed made no mistake from the spot kick to make it 2-1.
The capital club’s recovery was complete on 66 minutes when Lukasz Piszczek grabbed the equaliser when firing in superbly after a corner.

Hertha Berlin – Karlsruhe
Tenth plays twelfth in a real mid-table clash at he Olympistadion in Berlin as Hertha entertain Karlsruhe. KSC have had a successful season even though they have dropped down the table since Christmas.

Hertha Berlin 3-1 Karlsruhe
Hertha Berlin secured a 3-1 home win over Karlsruhe after capitalising on defensive errors from Miller and Hajnal.
The home side scored twice within the space of six minutes in the first half. On 25 minutes, a long ball from Friedrich saw KSC keeper make an almighty howler allowing Gojko Kacar to say “thank you” before slotting easily home.
Six minutes later and it was 2-0 with Marko Pantelic grabbing the goal. A mistake from Tamas Hajnal in midfield set Hertha on the counter attack. Pantelic played the ball to Ebert, who left keeper Miller standing with a super pass to Pantelic, who poked the ball over the line from close range.
Less than ten minutes into the second half and KSC got themselves back into the game with a goal from Kapllani. Iashvili flighted the ball into the middle, where the Albanian was on hand to convert.
The win for Hertha was sealed on 87 minutes with Rudi Skacel firing in the third. Raffael played the ball to Mineiro, who was clearly offside. The game played on and Mineiro played the ball back to Raffael who rounded the keeper before shooting against the post. However, Skacel was on hand to stab the ball home.

Bundesliga, Matchday 32 | PREVIEW
Bayer Leverkusen – Hertha Berlin
Michael Skibbe’s side slipped up on Sunday when going down 3-2 to relegation threatened Duisburg, so will be looking for a positive response when they meet Hertha Berlin at the Bay-Arena.
The Werkself are now three points adrift of fifth placed Stuttgart so have it all to do if they are not to finish the season disappointed. For so long they looked like potential title challengers, but a late dip in form has seen them slip out of the European places all together.
Lucien Favre will also be disappointed at the end of the season when he looks back at the Bundesliga campaign of his team. The capital club currently lie 12th which is two places lower than they finished last season, so the accusation will be that Hertha have gone backwards under their new boss.

Quote:
Bayer Leverkusen 1-2 Hertha Berlin
Hertha Berlin grabbed a 2-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay-Arena to inflict a severe blow to the Werkself’s hopes of European qualification.
The capital club got their noses in front after 26 minutes with Marko Pantelic rather predictably the scorer. The lead came from nothing as Raffael dribbled goalwards. He lost control, but fortunately for Hertha the ball fell to Pantelic, who fired into the corner of Adler’s goal to hand the visitors the lead.
Lucien Favre’s team then doubled their lead at the Bay-Arena from the penalty spot on 68 minutes. Forward Lukasz Piszczek was felled by Rene Adler in full flight and the referee had no option but to point to the spot. Midfielder Sofian Chahed converted the penalty to put Hertha in control.
A last minute goal from Lukas Sinkiewicz proved too little, too late to save Bayer from their second successive Bundesliga defeat.

Bundesliga, Matchday 33 | PREVIEW
Hertha Berlin – Nürnberg
Hertha continue to rely heavily on Serbian striker Marko Pantelic and it was his performance combined with some excellent goalkeeping from Jaroslav Drobny that saw the capital club beat Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay-Arena in midweek.
Lucien Favre will be targeting a top ten finish this season, so three points this weekend are a must. Things will however be difficult against a team fighting tooth and nail for survival.
Nürnberg have given themselves real hope following their 2-0 in over fellow relegation candidates Duisburg on Wednesday.
Thomas von Heesen will want his side to build upon that, knowing that anything less than a win could see them down if results elsewhere go against them. Last season’s Cup winners are leaving it really late, but the belief is there that they can stay up.

Hertha Berlin 1-0 Nürnberg
A solitary goal from Raffael at the Olympiastadion was enough to see Hertha home and inflict further misery upon Nürnberg.
The Hertha playmaker sprinted onto a through pass beating Pinola before beating Klewer. The defeat means that ‘der Klub’ are ever nearer being relegated and their fate will be decided next weekend on the final day of the season. They have to beat Schalke and pray that Bielefeld don’t beat Stuttgart.

Hertha Target Bellaid To Replace Simunic
With veteran centre back Josip Simunic being tipped to leave the club this summer, Hertha Berlin are in the hunt for a new defender and reports claim that Strasbourg’s Habib Bellaid is the number one target of Hertha trainer Lucien Favre.
Croatian defender Josip Simunic is certainly not flavour of the month at the Olympiastadion right now after a number of gaffes and he was culpable again at the weekend with Hertha only having referee Babak Rafati to thank for Nürnberg not being awarded a clear penalty.
It is a fairly open secret that Lucien Favre is looking to shift on the Croat, and that they are in the hunt for a new centre back. That centre back appears to be Strasbourg youngster Habib Bellaid.
The 22 year old was born in Paris to a French mother and Tunisian father and chosen to represent his country of birth. He has played for France at all junior levels and has 9 under-21 caps to his name.
He made his debut in Ligue 1 for Strasbourg aged 19 and has gone on to make 46 appearances for the Alsace side.
Bellaid is a classic central defender, tall, and good in the air. With Strasbourg suffering relegation this season, he will be available for as little as €1.5 million this summer despite having a contract until 2011.

Hertha Berlin signs Kaka
BERLIN - Hertha Berlin is getting its fifth Brazilian, and his name is Kaka.
It's not the AC Milan forward, however, but his namesake from Portuguese club Academica Coimbra, a 27-year-old central defender.
"We have agreed on all the details. All that's missing is his signature," Berlin general manager Dieter Hoeness said Thursday.
Kaka passed a physical Wednesday and will play alongside the Bundesliga's four other Brazilians, Minero, Raffael, Lucio and Andre Lima

Bundesliga, Matchday 34 | PREVIEW
Bayern Munich – Hertha Berlin
So the 2007/08 Bundesliga season comes to an end on Saturday and the biggest party will be at the Allianz Arena where champions Bayern Munich will receive the league trophy. Receiving the “salad dish” at the end of the season is not a new experience for the Bavarians (this is the 20th time since 1964), but the feeling of joy will not be diminished because of that.
Alongside the celebrations, tributes will no doubt be paid to retiring legends Oliver Kahn and Ottmar Hitzfeld. ‘Titan’ Oliver Kahn is hanging up his gloves after a glittering career, while ‘the General’ Ottmar Hitzfeld is calling it a day as Bayern trainer to take on the Swiss national team job.
Both men have given an immense amount to the club and will no doubt be honoured in the suitable way.
Hertha play a rather second fiddle role really this weekend. The points are an irrelevance to them as they are safely ensconced in mid-table, and don’t expect too many crunching tackles to be flying around from the Berlin players.
Germany has been awarded an extra Uefa Cup place courtesy of the Uefa ‘Fair Play’ rankings, and as it stands Hertha would be the beneficiaries of that place so will want to avoid any unwanted yellow cards.
