Hertha wind up training camp with a draw
Hertha BSC Berlin rounded off their training camp in the Austrian resort of Bad Waltersdorf with a decent performance in a 1-1 draw with English Premier League side Middlesborough.
New coach Lucien Favre saw his team go one up in the 43rd minute through Malek Fathi, following a Patrick Ebert free-kick. Boro were level before the break, however, courtesy of an Ayegbeni Yakubu penalty.
Lowlight of the match was the sending-off of Hertha's Pal Dardai and Boro's Fabio Rochembak following a scuffle.
On Wednesday, Hertha return to the German capital for the final three-and-a-half weeks of pre-season preparations.

Christopher Schorch [Real Madrid]
Christopher Schorch is set to follow German compatriot Christoph Metzelder to Real Madrid next season after the Spanish champions reached an agreement with Hertha Berlin for the teenager's services.
According to Hertha's official website, Hertha BSC, the 18-year-old defender Schorch is likely to play for Real Madrid's 'B' team during the next campaign.
Berlin general manager Dieter Hoeness also confirmed the transfer on sportbild.de, claiming he had no idea which club was involved in negotiations until the deal was done.
"The fax arrived last night from Real Madrid, and that was the first time I knew which club it was" he said.
Schorch, who has represented Germany at Under-16 and Under-17 level, is excited by his move to Spain.
"I am looking forward to meeting Christoph (Metzelder) and coach Bernd Schuster," he said.
"I think they will both make it easier for me to settle in."

Impressive Hertha beat Pilsen
Bundesliga side Hertha BSC turned on the style on Saturday, beating the Czech Republic first division side Viktoria Pilsen 4-0.
The victory was more than deserved, much to the delight of the 1,100 spectators at the amateur stadium near the Olympic stadium in Berlin.
Gimenez ruled out
New Hertha head coach Lucien Favre was without striker Christian Gimenez for what was seen as a dress rehearsal for Hertha's DFB Cup first round tie away to SpVgg Unterhaching on Saturday August 4th.
The Argentine goal-getter failed to recover from a calf problem. Want-away midfielder Kevin Boateng was rested, while he waits from news from Premier League side Tottenham regarding a possible big-money transfer.

Hertha get past Haching
Poor finishing by Eintracht Braunschweig and a bit of luck help Werder Bremen into the second round of the DFB Cup.
Thomas Schaaf`s side recorded a 1:0 (0:0) victory in front of 22.500 fans and avoided being knocked out at the first hurdle by a regional league side for the second year running.
Right at the death
New signing Boubacar Sanogo scored in the 90th minute to save the blushes of the Champions League qualified side. The side from Bremen had to play with ten men after Per Metesacker was dismissed in the 47th minute for the first time in his career.
Werder coach Thomas Schaaf had to put out a patched up side due to a number of injuries. Carlos Alberto made his debut for Bremen.

Amanatidis heads the winner
Thanks to offensive player Ioannis Amanatidis, Eintracht Frankfurt enjoyed their first season opening victory since their return to the top flight in 2005. The Greek international scored in the 31st minute to give Eintracht a 1-0 (1-0) win against Hertha BSC Berlin.
While Eintracht can enjoy an important victory after having only won five times at home last season, new Hertha Coach Lucien Favre is already under pressure before his first home match against champions VfB Stuttgart this coming Saturday.
Kyrgiakos' missed opportunity
Playing in front of 45,900 fans in the Frankfurter Arena, coach Friedhelm Funkel's squad seized the initiative at the very beginning and had opportunities to take the lead even before the goal by Amanatidis.
But defensive leader Sotirios Kyrgiakos sent a header from a short distance just over the guest's goal (12th min.). Four minutes before it was 1-0, the agile midfielder Alexander Meier failed with a header against solid Jaroslav Drobny (27th min.).
Berlin unable to coordinate
For the most part, the efforts of Favre's squad got them nowhere in the penalty area of Frankfurt. Problems with coordination and chemistry were evident: Hertha created no goal opportunities for themselves in the first half.
After the half, Hertha's offensive did little worth mentioning. First a mistake by the otherwise solid Kyrgiakos gave Berlin a chance, but Frankfurt's defender Marco Russ proved the spoiler against Pantelic (56th min.).

I really don't understand Hertha.
They've loost some good players, and haven't worked at all in bringing replacements.
What are they thinking? How can they challenge the others this season?
Honestly, they could be in trouble of relegation at the end.
They are so weak now.
I'm a bit surprised. I thought, at least they could beat Frankfurt.
But, I guess I took a lesson. At least I won't be surprised in the upcoming matchdays.
More negative results to come from Hertha.

Hertha have become crappier and crappier during the last 5 seasons. They have such an immense stadium and a large number of fans, but for some reason the club directors aren't investing much in bringing reinforcements to this team. I have a feeling Hertha won't finish higher than 12th this season
