Cottbus sign Eintracht striker

Danny Galm makes the move from Eintracht Frankfurt to FC Energie Cottbus.

The striker put pen to paper on a two-year contract on Tuesday. He transfers for an undisclosed fee.

Galm has scored 17 goals in 30 games for Eintracht reserves this season.

Energie Cottbus player Ervin Skela will wear shirt number 13 next season.

The playmaker had worn shirt number 11 at Cottbus after making the move from Ascoli Calcio.

"I would have liked the 13 last summer, but Sebastian Schuppan had just tattooed his neck with his number", Skela reveals.

Seven goals this season

The number is now available, thanks to Schuppan's move to SC Paderborn.

Skela had registered seven goals and five assists this season, making him Energie's top scorer. Will it be even better with his lucky number?

Energie midfielder to undergo surgery

Christian Müller will miss Energie Cottbus' start into pre-season.

The 24-year-old had to undergo a groin operation in Berlin on Monday.

The Cottbus team doctors expect him to be out of action for four to six weeks.

"We´re expecting to keep them"

Energie Cottbus Sporting Director Steffen Heidrich addresses the rumors that Igor Mitreski and Mariusz Kukielka are expected to leave the club.

Question: Are FC Energie not expecting to keep these two players?

Steffen Heidrich: I was also surprised by this on vacation in Turkey. The editor of the magazine Kicker asked me yesterday if I knew of a Russian club's interest in Igor Mitreski. I answered that there are always lots of rumors. And that we would consider an offer -- if there was one. But it doesn't follow that we are no longer expecting to keep Igor. He's proven his qualities and is an important part of the team.

Question: And Mariusz Kukielka?

Steffen Heidrich: Would we have extended his contract in the winter if we didn't expect to keep him? What's true for Igor Mitreski is also true for Mariusz Kukielka. Of course we're expecting to keep him, and I hope that as he prepares for the season, he once again finds the strengths he demonstrated before he was injured.

Question: Can you explain why these reports came out?

Steffen Heidrich: Speculation is rife at the moment. Of course we want to reduce the size of our squad. Especially on defence. We've been saying that. And I've also said that we'd consider any offers. That goes for any player, because our aim is to generate transfer revenues. But to draw from that, that we're no longer expecting to keep Igor Mitreski and Mariusz Kukielka, is completely unfounded.

Cyprian international leaves Energie

Efstathios Aloneftis leaves Energie Cottbus.

Cottbus and Omonia Nikosia reached an agreement over the transfer of the 25-year-old on Tuesday.

The left-footed player had joined Cottbus from Greek side AE Larisas last summer and made twelve Bundesliga appearances last season.

Omonia Nikosia is the home club of the Cyprian international. He had already played for Omonia between 1994 and 2005.

Energie back at work

A great summer evening, the whole squad around and 4,000 fans inside the Stadion der Freundschaft: a great start into the 2008/09 season for FC Energie Cottbus.

The public training sessions started at 19:00 when all players took to the pitch one at a time.

Number one goalkeeper Gerhard Tremmel was the first one amid loud applause, Bojan Prasnikar was the last one out on the park.

After the warm-up, passing training and an involuntarily shower thanks to the sprinklers, the coach had three teams play each other in a mini-tournament.

New signing Emil Jula was the first one to find the back of the net in 2008/09.

Two players to leave Energie

Energie Cottbus player Kristian Ipsa has secured a move to FC Midtjylland.

The Croatian Under-21 international convinced in a two-day trial and has already agreed terms.

FC Energie and Midtjylland agreed about the transfer fee on Monday.

Burca to Beijing?

Ovidiu Burca also exited the training camp in Altenberg. The Romanian wants to join Guoan Beijing and will fly to China for a medical on Tuesday.

Energie Cottbus - Ankaragücü 4:1 (1:1)

Energie came from behind to beat Turkish top-flight club MKE Ankaragücü, who had taken the lead on the counter-attack through Murat (35).

Cagdas Atan equalised with a free-kick into the top corner on the stroke of half-time.

The new signing went one better when he hammered home another free-kick from 35 metres three minutes into the second half.

He then turned provider when Dusan Vasiljevic turned home his corner on the hour mark before Ervin Skela put the icing on the cake for Cottbus four minutes from time.
