Default Wetklo stays with Mainz

Mainz-goalie Christian Wetklo has prematurely extended his contract (wich otherwise would have expired in summer 2008) with Mainz 05.

Wetklo signed a contract that will keep him at Mainz until June 30th, 2010.

"We are very happy about his decision to stay with us", said Mainz' sporting director Christian Heidel. "Now we are able to plan with two equally strong keepers."

Default Mainz lose Wache

1. FSV Mainz 05 will have to make do without first choice goalkeeper Dimo Wache in their match against Borussia Mönchengladbach today.

The skipper dislocated his shoulder in the final training session on Friday morning.

No fracture

The shoulder was set in hospital where X-rays also ruled out a fracture.

Due to Wache's pain a nuclear spin was not possible, however, so it is still possible that ligaments could have been damaged.

Wetklo in goal

Dimo Wache will see shoulder specialist Prof. Peter Habermeyer in Heidelberg next Monday.

Christian Wetklo is set to keep goal for Wache tonight.

Try this out. When she is about to say yes or no, pull back and say, "nah, I change my mind" and sort of walk away.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.
"Well, that was fun... in a fuckin' terrible, sick, not-at-all-fun way."

Ricardo Quaresma: forever a Porto legend. Thank you for all the memories.

Default Horror news for Mainz

2. Bundesliga side 1. FSV Mainz 05's hopes for promotion were dealt a massive blow on Monday: Dimo Wache will not play again in 2007.

Wache will miss the entire first half of the season.

The goalkeeper had damaged his shoulder in Friday's final training session ahead of the match against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Ligaments and capsules ruptured

Examinations at shoulder specialist Prof. Peter Habermeyer in Heidelberg revealed that Wache has suffered complete rupture of the ligaments and capsules in his right shoulder.

The goalkeeper will have to undergo surgery, which will be carried through on Wednesday.

Andersen takes over from Klopp

Andersen takes over from Jürgen Klopp who had announced his departure for the case that Mainz miss out on promotion.

Jörn Andersen had coached 2. Bundesliga rivals Offenbach since November 2007, but failed to beat the drop with Kickers.

Jürgen Kramny (36) will act as Andersen's assistant coach. The former FSV player had coached the Under-19s so far.

"Jörn Andersen is a seasoned personality and has great experience in professional football. His football philosophy is 4-4-2 with passionate attacking football, which aligns with our idea of football", Mainz Sporting Director Christian Heidel said.
