Stuttgart Play Down Lehmann Rumours
Stuttgart are remaining tight lipped over press reports that they are seeking to bring international keeper Jens Lehmann to the club this summer.
German media reports have claimed that Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann is being sought by VfB Stuttgart on a free transfer at the end of the current season. However the Swabian manager Horst Heldt has refused to confirm or deny the speculation.
“For the moment, we are not speaking about individual cases, we are focused on the end to the season to obtain our qualification for Europe” Heldt explained.
The 38 year old keeper is available on a free transfer in the summer after being released by Arsenal and a return to German is on the cards with a number of Bundesliga clubs apparently interested in bringing in the experienced keeper.
Stuttgart are allegedly high on the list of potential suitors as the outgoing champions look to replace Raphael Schäfer, who has had a disappointing season following his summer move from Nürnberg.
The VfB keeper lost his place earlier this season to Sven Ulreich, but has recently made a return.
Yesterday however he made a terrible error to gift Wolfsburg their opening goal in a 4-0 win that has put Stuttgart’s European qualification in danger.

-----
If they want to achieve anything next season (CL place), they must bring a new goalie. One of the reasons for their failure this season is undoubtely Schafer. What a horrible goalie.
They should get Lehmann. He's still a good goalie.
They have also been linked with Enke and Hildebrand (if I remember correctly).

VFB Stuttgart 2008-2009 Puma football kits
These are the new VFB Stuttgart home, away and 3rd football shirts for the 08-09 season made by Puma. VFB Stuttgart was formed through the 2 April 1912 merger of predecessor sides Stuttgarter FV (1893) and Kronen-Club Cannstatt (1890) following a meeting in the Concordia hotel in Cannstatt. Each of these clubs was made up of school pupils with middle class roots who learned new sports such as rugby union and football from English pioneers.
VfB are nicknamed "the Reds" for their team colours, featuring a red chest ring on white jerseys. Local rivals Stuttgarter Kickers, wearing blue and white, are "the Blues".

Stuttgart Lining Up Voronin Move
VfB Stuttgart are lining up a move to bring Andrei Voronin back to the Bundesliga from Premiership side Liverpool.
Voronin has had a far from spectacular season at Anfield following his summer free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen. He has failed to cement a regular starting place with Rafa Benitez preferring Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt as his attacking options.
The Ukrainian international has made 19 league appearances mostly as a substitute and scored five times in the process. In his last season at Bayer Leverkusen he played 31 times bagging 10 ten goals.
Stuttgart sporting director Jochen Schneider has reportedly already made contact with the 29 year old’s advisor Andrej Golowasch over a possible move to the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion.
Voronin’s contract with the Reds runs until 2011 but it is understood they are willing to unload the player as they seek to reinforce their squad for next season.
Stuttgart are also not averse to taking the forward on loan if a permanent move cannot be sealed.
The Ukrainian has had previous spells in Germany with Mainz, Cologne and Borussia Mönchengladbach.

Two more VfB stars ruled out
Following the loss of Fernando Meira (suspension) and Serdar Tasci (thigh injury), VfB will now have to make do without two further options for the season final against Arminia Bielefeld this Saturday at the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadium (kick-off 3:30pm).
Pavel Pardo has had to pull out of the tie with a muscle tear to his right thigh and striker Ciprian Marica will miss out with a calf problem.
The injuries spell the end of this season for both players.

Bundesliga, Matchday 34 | PREVIEW
Stuttgart – Arminia Bielefeld
Another game of immense importance takes place at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion where both VfB and Bielefeld need the points for wholly differing reasons.
The Swabians are still in with a chance of rescuing a largely disappointing season for them by finishing in one of the Uefa Cup spots. At one stage it looked like they would be more likely to be fighting to avoid the bottom three than breaking into the top five, but a return to form aided by the goals of Mario Gomez has seem them within 90 minutes of qualifying for Europe.
It is still quite a climb down from last season’s title win though. On paper they face one of the easier opponents, but Bielefeld will be fighting for their lives as they look to maintain their two point lead over Nürnberg, that would secure their Bundesliga survival.
However the worst defence in the league will have to tighten up considerably if they are to stop Super Mario Gomez from adding to his 18 league goals this season and troubling Luca Toni for the leading scorer’s crown. What odds on a Gomez hat-trick?

Stuttgart 2 - 2 Arminia Bielefeld

VfB Stuttgart 2 Arminia Bielefeld 2
Despite only drawing, Bielefeld secured their top flight status courtesy of Nürnberg’s loss to Schalke. The point for Stuttgart however was not enough to secure one of the Uefa Cup berths and the Swabians finish 6th.
Bielefeld took the lead on 10 minutes through Robert Tesche. A free kick from Marx sailed goal wards were Bollmann first got his head to the ball. The ball fell invitingly to Tesche, who poked home from close range to give them the ideal start.
The nerves amongst the Bielefeld fans were put back on edge though on 75 minutes when Mario Gomez fired home from the penalty spot. Mijatovic was penalised for the use of an elbow on Fischer and the referee pointed to the spot. Super Mario stepped up to equalise for the Swabians sending Fernandez the wrong way.
Young striker Manuel Fischer then put the home side in front with just five minutes remaining with a left foot shot after Delpierre had headed on a da Silva corner. However, three minutes from time Bielefeld secured the draw with Eigler putting the finishing touch to a fine move to celebrate the Arminen’s future and deny VfB a Uefa Cup spot.

Da Silva Poised For Stuttgart Exit
Stuttgart’s Brazilian midfielder Antonio Da Silva has admitted that he is set to leave the club this summer.
Da Silva has struggled to make the breakthrough as a regular starter for the Swabians following his move from Mainz two years ago.
And with VfB signing two new midfielders in Jan Simak and Martin Lanig, the Brazilian sees his chances being further hindered and has revealed that he feels the time has come to move on.
"It's better for me if I go," Da Silva told Kicker. "I don't see myself as a simple squad player. That's not what I want.
"I want to be able to help a team and I can only do that if I'm playing."
Media reports suggest that Bundesliga rivals Karlsruhe are keen to sign him as a replacement for Borussia Dortmund-bound Hungarian Tamas Hajnal.
However, the two clubs have yet to agree on a fee for the Brazilian who is contracted to the Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion until 2011.

Stuttgart rule out Stamford Bridge raid
Stuttgart have moved to dismiss speculation suggesting they could mount a summer bid to sign Chelsea striker Claudio Pizarro.
The Peruvian has failed to settle at Stamford Bridge and is a candidate for the exit door following the arrival of Luiz Felipe Scolari as the club's new manager.
The 29-year-old scored 99 goals in the Bundesliga with Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich between 1999 and 2007.
Vfb officials Jochen Schneider and Horst Heldt both quashed the rumours when speaking to the German media.
"That [signing Pizarro] would more than cover all of our salary framework," said club manager Heldt.
Stuttgart are expected to need a new attacker to replace Mario Gomez, with the Germany international earmarked for a big-money switch to Bayern Munich.
