Include there Schalke aswell. Though, Schalke and Werder are not doing as crappy as Stuttgart.

The only team that represented Germany properly is and will always be Bayern.

Bundesliga, Matchday 13 PREVIEW
VfB Stuttgart - FC Bayern München

VfB (11th) have recovered in the league with two successive 1-0 victories, but they are on the back of a 4-2 defeat in Lyon that confirmed their Champions League exit with two rounds still to play.

"We're surely underdogs, but if all players go into the match having recovered well, then we will field a team that is capable of beating Bayern", VfB coach Armin Veh said.

Leaders Bayern are the only Bundesliga team still unbeaten this season, but had just 42 hours to recover from their 2-2 draw against Bolton in the UEFA Cup.

"We have a big squad and a good one, which is of great advantage in such situations. We want to win", Bayern's Philipp Lahm commented.

Stuttgart Stun Bayern With 3-1 Win

Stuttgart made a tremendous return to their championship winning form and inflicted Bayern’s first defeat of the season with a 3-1 win at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion.

Two first half goals from Mario Gomez and another from Yildiray Bastürk stunned the league leaders, and condemned them to another disappointing Bundesliga result following two consecutive goalless draws.

Stuttgart 3 Bayern Munich 1

First Half

The first half got off to quick start with the home side clearly fired up and intent on making life difficult for the league leaders. As early as the third minute Mario Gomez surged into the Bayern penalty area and half heartedly looked for a penalty, but referee Kinhöfer was not interested.

Nobody was being allowed much time on the ball in a frenetic opening, but Stuttgart were putting together some nice two-touch passing moves, one of which ended with a good shot from Bastürk.

On eight minutes ‘the Hammer’ Hitzlsperger had his first opportunity to fire in from distance but it was blocked by Lucio. Then on ten minutes the crowd inside the Gottlieb-Daimler were sent into raptures with the opening goal.

Ludovic Magnin surged down the left beating Christian Lell before whipping in an inviting cross into the six yard box. Demichelis looked favourite to get his head to the ball, but inexplicably missed his header. The ball hit Mario Gomez in the stomach rather than him making headed contact and nestled in the back of the net.

Two minutes later and Schäfer pulled off a superb save from Luca Toni only to see the linesman’s flag raised for offside. The Italian had two further headed chances but both were too weak to bother Schäfer in Stuttgart’s goal.

Bayern were however getting themselves more and more into the game. That said it was Stuttgart who scored the second goal of the game on the half hour mark.

Magnin sent a superb ball forward to Hilbert beating the offside trap. The midfielder squared the ball to Yildiray Bastürk whose curled shot beat Oliver Kahn in the Bayern goal to double the Swabians lead and put a massive smile on Armin Veh’s face.

Two minutes later and Bayern had a goal disallowed when Luca Toni was adjudged to have pushed Fernando Meira before heading powerfully past Schäfer. Bayern were becoming the dominant attacking side and Zé Roberto surged forward on 36 minutes on a great solo run before seeing his dangerous shot parried by the goalkeeper.

Then against the run of play, Stuttgart amazingly scored a third goal. An attempted headed clearance from Demichelis found Cacau, who played the ball back into the area to Hilbert, whose lay-off was drilled in by Mario Gomez from four meters to put the Swabians firmly in control.

Second Half

Ottmar Hitzfeld reacted by bringing on Miroslav Klose and Bastian Schweinsteiger at the start of the second period as the Bavarians attempted to get themselves back into the game. Armin Veh also made a change introducing Sami Khedira for goalscorer Yildiray Bastürk.

Two minutes after the restart and Luca Toni found himself through on goal only for Schäfer to stand tall and save the Italian’s shot. On 52 minutes Bastian Schweinsteiger was lucky to see only yellow after an ugly two footed challenge on Cacau.

Bayern continued to press forward looking for a way back into the game but without much success. Lucio saw a long shot fly wide, while Toni Kroos also had a shot deflected away for a corner.

With the game drifting away from them, and with Stuttgart determining the tempo of the game, Bayern were reduced to ten men following a red card for Lucio after 70 minutes. The Brazilian’s elbow into the face of Magnin was spotted by referee Kinhöfer and the straight red card was the result.

The home side, with the game in the bag, were content to run the clock down although they did have a good chance for a fourth eight minutes from time with Magnin firing in a dangerous shot, which Kahn did well to save.

Four minutes from the end, and Luca Toni grabbed a consolation goal for Bayern when he poked home a rebounded shot, after Klose had hit the post following a poor Schäfer clearance.

In the end Stuttgart’s first half performance was enough to seal the win, restore some faith in the reigning champions and condemn Bayern to their first defeat.

1-0 Gomez (10)

2-0 Bastürk (30)

3-0 Gomez (42)

Stuttgart: Schäfer, Tasci, Meira, Delpierre, Magnin, Pardo, Hilbert, Bastürk (Khedira), Hitzlsperger, Gomez (Beck), Cacau (Marica)

Bayern Munich: Kahn, Lell (Schweinsteiger), Lahm, Lucio, Demichelis, Zé Roberto, Altintop, Kroos (van Buyten), Ribéry, Toni, Podolski (Klose)

Today was the first game I watch for Stuttgart !! I was impressed by Hitzlsperger and Magnin and Mario Gomes.

About Hitzlsperger and Mario Gomes I heard before. But it was the first time I hear about Magnin. He looked to Me as a LB from the highest level !! I liked his assist to Mario Gomes in the first goal, and the way he crossed Demichelis above his head and almost scored with a shot that was luckily stopped by Oliver Kahn. Of course, Magnin made his job successfully at the Defense . . .

Default Stuttgart- Crisis? What Crisis?

A convincing 3-1 win over leaders Bayern Munich has been welcomed by everybody at the Gottlieb-Daimler Stadion. The crisis at Stuttgart must now surely be a thing of the past.

“We wanted to go into the game aggressively, press early on and keep Bayern away from our goal, and we did that well. The early goal gave us more security and above all in the first half we played well” Veh explained.

“You saw that we now have more quality on the pitch, so can play our passing game as we did last season. That leads to more goals” he added.

Two goal hero Mario Gomez believes the team are now out of their crisis and on the way up.

“We played very well from the first minute and played solidly as a team. We have shown in the past few games that we are on the way up. The team have worked very hard, and today was reward for that.”

VfB keeper Raphael Schäfer was pleased with the day’s work. “This win was a big and important step for us. We have shown what we can do and took the positives from the Lyon game and used them against Bayern.

“In defence we didn’t allow them any space, were aggressive and were overall the better side.”

You can't tell if you're out of crisis just after one good match/win.

Nurnberg won 5-1 a few weeks ago. And, right after, they thought they're out of crisis.
And what happened next? Defeats again and again for them.

We'll see how will Stuttgart continue. After a few more matches, we can tell if they're out of crisis or not.

Default "We were rewarded for our willingness"

VfB Stuttgart have ended the unbeaten run of leaders FC Bayern. bundesliga.de met up with VfB striker Cacau after the match.

Last season Cacau had bagged a brace in Stuttgart's 2-0 win over Bayern. On Saturday the 26-year-old didn't get on the scoresheet, but he still was in impressive form as the hosts ran out 3-1 winners.

bundesliga.de: Cacau, that surely was VfB's best performance this season. What did you do differently?

Cacau: We put them under a lot of pressure with pressing right from the start. The strikers got a lot of balls from midfield, enabling us to create opportunities. We scored three first-half goals, almost everything in our game worked.

bundesliga.de: How was the mood in the camp in the build-up to the game? VfB had won two Bundesliga matches in a row, but also lost 4-2 in Lyon...

Cacau: Despite the bad result on Wednesday and the Champions League exit that went along with it we were very motivated. Or maybe even because of that. We had given a reasonable account of ourselves in Lyon. We wanted to give our best to beat Bayern, and we were rewarded for our willingness.

bundesliga.de: Last season you had scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Bayern. Now you set up one goal with an overhead kick. Did you ever manage to do that before?

Cacau: I don't remember. Of course you do remember goals you've scored with overhead kicks. But if you set up a goal like that it passes out of mind more easily.

bundesliga.de: VfB were as dominant as in last season's 2-0 win.

Cacau: Yes, that's right. I think that Bayern were surprised by the pressure we put them under. It really was fun. Bayern suit us.

bundesliga.de: Were you surprised by the strong performance?

Cacau: No, after we had won the first one-on-one duels I knew that we would deliver a good performance. We then had the needed security and the courage to attack with self-confidence. Everything worked out super from then on.

bundesliga.de: Where do VfB stand at the moment?

Cacau: In the standings were in midfield and rightly so, if you consider the season so far. But we're improving game by game and the results do, too. Now we have to see that we get enough points on board before the winter break.

bundesliga.de: Do you relish the international break after three successive wins or would you rather do without it?

Cacau: That's hard to say. But it shouldn't matter. We now need a few days rest and then have to carry on where we left off when the action restarts.
