Bundesliga, Matchday 33 | PREVIEW
Schalke – Eintracht Frankfurt
Schalke have third place sewn up but would dearly love to go one better and usurp Werder as Bundesliga runners up. It would confirm the Königsblauen’s role as perennial bridesmaids, but would also give incoming boss Fred Rutten something to work on next season.
After a disappointing home draw with Hannover, Schalke returned to winning ways in midweek with an impressive win over Ruhr rivals Bochum with midfielder Ivan Rakitic on top form.
Opponents Frankfurt ended up on the wrong end of a 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg so will be looking to recovery against the Königsblauen at the Veltins Arena.

Schalke 1-0 Eintracht Frankfurt
The Königsblauen kept up the pressure on second place Werder Bremen with a 1-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt
The crowd inside the Veltins Arena had to wait until the 65th minute for the opening goal, but were relieved to see it fall to the home side. Ivan Rakitic fired in a free kick which was met by centre back Mladen Krstajic’s head with no Eintracht defender in sight.
The runners up spot will now be decided next weekend on the final day of the season.

Büskens: Victory More Important Than Performance
Despite not putting in their best performance of the season, Schalke managed to squeeze to a narrow 1-0 home victory over Eintracht Frankfurt to keep themselves in the race to finish as runners up this season.
A second half header from centre back Mladen Krstajic following a Rakitic free kick after 65 minutes was enough to seal a 1-0 win for the Königsblauen.
The win sees them remaining two points behind Werder Bremen and means that the runners up this season will only be confirmed after the final game of the season next Saturday.
“We didn’t see a very good performance from the team today. But at the end of the day, the important thing is that we won 1-0.
“The calculation is now simple. We have to win our last game and we need Bremen to lose.”
Frankfurt find themselves in freefall with the defeat at the Veltins Arena their sixth in their last seven games.

New Schalke 04 Home 08-10 Adidas football kit
Schalke 04 unveiled their new 08/10 home shirt made by adidas The new home kit will be used for the next two seasons. The club was founded on May 4, 1904 as Westfalia Schalke by a group of high school students and first wore the colors red and yellow. In 1924, the football team parted ways with the gymnasts once again – this time taking the club chairman along with them. They took the name FC Schalke 04 and adopted the now familiar blue and white uniforms from which their second nickname would derive – "Die Königsblauen" (The Royal Blues).
The new home shirt will be first worn at the home match against Eintracht Frankfurt. The fans can enjoy this kit the day before. On Friday (9.5.) Launched at the S04 shop on the club grounds and available at the online store. For supporters of the royal blue adidas has done something very special. This is the first time the words "Schalke 04" appear at the front of the collar. And in the neck band, anyone can read about what the institution motto is :"EIN LEBEN LANG, BLAU UND WEISS EIN LEBEN LANG" which means something like : "A MY LIFE, BLUE AND WHITE ALL MY LIFE." And the counterfeiting increased security, the security hologram. And finally, of course, the embroidered logos of FC Schalke 04 and adidas.

The new changes are not so noticeable, only if you look at the small details you can see a small change .
However, i don't like their Jersey, but because it's from Adidas i can't say it's ugly.

The current kit, for comparison:
The new one for next season doesn't look bad.

The new one looks like the current Chelsea kit. But it seems that Schalke wants to be mini chelsea next season anyway.

Bajramovic Disappointed At Schalke
Zlatan Bajramovic was given presents, applause and a fine send off from Schalke at the end of their final league match at the Veltins Arena on Saturday, but the midfielder couldn’t help but voice his disappointment at the club’s decision to offer him a new contract at the end of the season.
The Königsblauen management took the decision not to offer Bajramovic a new deal at the end of the current campaign, meaning that the player will have to look for a new club for next season.
The Bosnian joined the club in 2005 from FC Freiburg and has made a total of 64 appearances for Schalke scoring 6 goals in the process.
Without wishing to sound ungrateful for the send-off, Bajramovic couldn’t help but voice his disappointment at the way he felt he was being dumped by the club.
“I have always given my all and played some good games for them. I’ve often had to bite hard and play through the pain barrier” he said.
“I would have liked to have been given another year. There are plenty of examples of players, that have been injured or ill, being offered contract extensions.”
The midfielder has been unavailable since December 2007 following an inflammation on his toe and will now undergo an operation to rectify the problem.
He doesn’t however have any thoughts of giving up saying: “I am confident enough that I’ll find a new club.”

Müller Expecting Interesting Final Day
Schalke General manager Andreas Müller is looking forward to the final weekend of the Bundesliga season and pipping Werder Bremen to the runners up spot this season. Whatever happens, he is expecting a very interesting weekend.
The Königsblauen trail Werder by two points but can still finish second if they beat Nürnberg and Thomas Schaaf’s side come unstuck against Bayer Leverkusen.
A loss for Nürnberg would see them relegated so ‘der Klub’ have plenty to play for, as do Bayer Leverkusen, who are still in the hunt for a Uefa Cup spot.
“Every club has had enough time this season to get the points they need” Müller said. “We're two points short as well - or actually three, if you look at the goal difference.”
Schalke narrowly beat Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend in what was far from a vintage performance, but manager Müller isn’t overly bothered.
“When I look at the game I find myself wishing we had had more games like that this season. We didn't play well, but we got the right result. Importantly, we retained our chance of leapfrogging Bremen into second.
“We now need to win in Nürnberg and hope that Bremen slip up. It's going to be a very interesting final day” he mused.
“We have to win our game and everything else will sort itself out. The task now is to muster all our strength for the final day.
“Everyone who's close to the team knows it's been a long and tiring season. We're going into the final game now and we have to pull ourselves together one more time” Müller added.

Bundesliga, Matchday 34 | PREVIEW
Nürnberg – Schalke
This really is the last-chance saloon for Nürnberg as they look to stage the great escape and keep their place in the Bundesliga. This season has been an unmitigated disaster for last season’s Cup winners and few would have predicted this kind of fall from grace.
The bringing in of new trainer Thomas von Heesen did not have the desired effect as the new man at the helm has struggled to stop the downward spiral of ‘der Club’. They now face a last-day make-or-break match with Schalke, who themselves still have a lot to play for.
Last weekend’s defeat to Hertha Berlin did the Franken no favours so they have to win on Saturday to have any chance of overhauling Bielefeld and saving themselves.
Schalke sit third and trail second place Werder Bremen by two points, so the Königsblauen are going to have to win and rely on Bayer Leverkusen beating Werder at the Bay-Arena. Another year has past without Schalke winning that elusive title, but finishing second, combined with their Champions League quarter final appearance, would put a more positive light on their season.

Nurnberg 0 - 2 Schalke
20' [0 - 1] M.J. Bordon
61' [0 - 2] M.J. Bordon
Quote:
Nürnberg 0 Schalke 2
Nürnberg were relegated in a wholly disappointing game for the fans of ‘der Klub’. In a game they had to win, they never looked like scoring and lost 2-0. What makes matters worse is that Bielefeld were held to a draw at Stuttgart so a point would have done to secure their survival.
The positive, expectant mood inside the easycredit Stadion was soon dampened when Bordon headed the visitors ahead after 19 minutes. A classic corner delivered by Pander saw the Schalke captain rise strongly to power in an unstoppable header.
The Königsblauen then hammered another nail into the Nürnberg coffin on the hour mark with Bordon getting his and Schalke’s second of the afternoon. Pander’s free kick was narrowly missed by Kevin Kuranyi and Klewer was forced to parry. However Bordon was on the spot to stab home from close range.
The win though was not enough to secure second spot for Schalke as Werder beat Bayer Leverkusen.
