UEFA has accepted a protest lodged by Danish club Aalborg BK against the red card given to defender Michael Beauchamp during Wednesday night's UEFA Champions League Group E match against Celtic FC in Glasgow.
Jakobsen suspended
The UEFA Control and Disciplinary body has handed down a one-match suspension to Beauchamp's team-mate, fellow Aalborg defender Michael Jakobsen, in connection with an incident of professional foul play in the 79th minute of the match, which ended in a goalless draw.
Misses United match
As a result of the decision, the red card given to Beauchamp has no legal consequences for the player. Jakobsen's suspension means that he will miss Aalborg's next UEFA Champions League match against Manchester United FC in Denmark on 30 September. An appeal against the decision to suspend Jakobsen may be lodged within three days of receipt of the grounds for UEFA's decision.
