We were reportedly in for Bodmer since we played Lille the first time in the UCL...
I would be pissed off if I were a French football fan or a Lille fan though, Lyon always buy the best players from the other clubs which are even close to competing with them so of course there's not going to be a decent title-race.

Well, they're ultimate goal is Europe and if they got strong enough to reach their goal, then it's good for French football on the whole. By now, surrounding teams should have strengthened to meet Lyon - clubs like Marseille are big enough to build and challenge them, but just wont. Can't blame Lyon for being strong enough to get stronger, and willing to do it, but you can blame the sides that are strong enough to get stronger and unwilling to make a real effort.
It doesn't help anyone's case, in France, that the country is generally stripped of it's talent by the real European powers - and they go by the same code as Lyon.

Yeah, they're great signings for Lyon - both are set for first team role, imo, Keita on the right of that 3 up front, and Bodmer taking Tiago's position in midfield.

Sonny Future At Lyon
Quote:
Newly appointed Olympique Lyon general manager Claude Puel has reunited former Brazilian forward Sonny Anderson with the club, acquiring the 37 year-old's services as a coach…
In an illustrious playing career that included five national titles and several appearances for the Brazilian national team, Sonny Anderson carved out a reputation as a feared goal scorer. Anderson played over 500 domestic league matches in a career spanning 19 years, scoring an incredible 322 goals in the process.
The deadly forward enjoyed particular success in Lyon, where he was a key figure as the les Gones established their stranglehold on French football. While at the Stade Gerland the forward scored at the rate of nearly two goals every three games.
The scene of his most impressive days will also be the setting where Anderson hones his coaching skills as he was announced as a member of les Gones' staff by general manager Claude Puel yesterday.
Puel is hoping that the Brazilian can transmit the secrets of his goal-getting skills to Lyon's current squad. “He will have the task of working with the attackers of the squad and those in the Youth Academy,” Puel explained to the club's official website.
Meanwhile, Anderson has expressed his delight about returning to a club he holds dear to him.
“Returning to Olympique Lyon is what I wished,” the former Barcelona and Monaco striker enthused.
“I will discuss the training exercises and the way of doing things with Claude. It is something new for me,” Anderson continued, “I know Claude from Monaco. He is a rigorous, serious man, who will bring a great deal to the club.”

Sevilla Chase Squillaci
Quote:
Lyon central defender Sébastien Squillaci is understood to be very close to joining Sevilla.
The French international has been a regular presence in the Lyon defence since he joined the club from Monaco in 2006.
His good performances for the French champions have caught the eye of Sevilla coach Manolo Jiménez, who seeks a veteran central defender for his squad.
Although Lyon coach Claude Puel is reluctant to part with his player, he acknowledges it will be very hard to keep Squillaci at Stade Gerland with an offer from Sevilla on the table.
"I hardly see myself letting him leave but I consider his departure after speaking with him and the club," Puel told L' Equipe. "There are negotiations between Sevilla and Lyon."

Fred has revealed he wants to stay at Lyon, despite being almost constantly linked with a move away from Stade Gerland.
