Baros on his way to Lyon
Quote:
Lyon hope to secure a deal for Aston Villa striker Milan Baros within the next 72 hours.
Baros has emerged as the French champions' top target as Gerard Houllier looks to recruit a new front man before the close of the transfer window.
Houllier admitted last week that he had been in contact with the Czech Republic international's agent regarding a move to Stade Gerland.
Club chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has also admitted Lyon's interest and there have been reports that John Carew could be offered as part of a swap deal.
Sources at the club have also suggested that Baros will be holding discussions concerning a possible transfer on Monday.
And Lyon's sporting director Bernard Lacombe confirmed the club are aiming to finalise a deal for the player in the first half of the week.
Lacombe told AFP: "I can't be more precise, but I think that Milan Baros will be at Lyon in under 72 hours, maybe Monday or Tuesday."
Baros has yet to establish himself as Martin O'Neill's first choice at Villa Park and has been linked with a winter switch to the likes of Chelsea, Real Sociedad and Werder Bremen.
He has worked with Houllier before, with the former Liverpool boss having taken the forward to the Premiership back in 2001.

See what she does then. You will have basically turned the tables on her. Tried this a few times, always works.

It is believed that Liverpool, Newcastle, West Ham, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough have all enquired about Carew at some level. And that's just teams from the Premiership.Teams from Spain and Germany are also in the race for the highly rated striker.Aston Villa seems to be close to sign him but there have been silent on that possible move recent days. The speculation is that there will be a swap deal with Baros joining Lyon and Carew to Villa.Carew have refused ten clubs so far...

Latest: Lyon have completed the deal for Baros and it's expected Carew will go the opposite way.

Can Lyon be Caught
Lyon have falling on hard times and their lead have dwindle to 11 points...Who will be able to take advantage of Lyon's poor play...My feeling is that Lens could make a push for top position...

^ Nah, even though Lyon's form has dropped a lot recently, they still have a bif lead, and it's not easy to catch it.

Lyon have been struggling and alot of anaylst are saying that the reason for their slump is due to the concentration of winning the Champions League..There is a problem at Lyon and it's going to cause them problems in the Champions League. They need to show Lorient that they are still the best club in France and give them a royal beating...

League Leaders Olympique Lyon (1st – 54 points) managed to get back on track with a morale-boosting win over Lorient after five winless fixtures had seen the champions lose some of their edge over the rest. The result, although slim, puts OL 14 points clear of Lens who may reduce the difference back to 11 if they beat Sochaux on Sunday.

I'm not impress with Lyon and they will probably do enough to get by Roma, but once again they will lose in the Quarter-finals..Lens are showing me that they can play and will pickup the pace on Lyon..

Sonny Anderson Planning Star-Studded Bash At Lyon
Retired Brazilian ‘Pistoleiro’ (Gunman) Sonny Anderson is planning a star-studded retirement game to take place in Lyon to commemorate his decision to hang his boots up.
The match is scheduled for June the 11th,and the list of stars that the Brazilian intends to invite includes Ronaldinho Gaúcho, Thierry Henry, Juan Riquelme, Beteto, Cristoph Dugarry and Enzo Scifo.
The ex-player revealed his intentions to French daily ‘Le Progrès’. “It’s a way of sealing my retirement with a golden key as well as an opportunity to thank all those who’ve always been by my side”, explained Anderson.
The 36 year-old started off at Rio de Janeiro outfit Vasco da Gama in 1987, passing through Guarani before entering Europe via the back door and Swiss club Servette.
From there his ‘pistol-blazing’ celebration earned him the ‘Pistoleiro’ nickname as he rippled nets for Olympique Marseille, AS Monaco, Barcelona, Olympique Lyon and Villarreal before calling it a day with Qatari outfit Al Rayyan.
