Out of the top 6 sides, lyon and rennes were only able to get wins.

Everytime Ive seen Niang play he's been terrible!!! Me and my brother always and I mean ALWAYS laugh when people say his name. Why?Cause we watch his matches and see how wasteful he is.Then go on youtube to see a collection of his good plays

Then again he's scored some big goals this season.Hopefully he continues to produce!

He's a good striker, no doubt about that.

If he continues like this, I think offers will see him out of France.

I've been following the French league lately, and Niang has been doing good.

Specially watched the derby OM - OL, he was awesome.

hmm sinoy. He was never really impressive as a striker. Always was better as a right winger, but this season he is on fire infront of goal and OM have no other options, well apart from cisse who was playing like sh1t.

I was only able to watch Rennes v Lyon and Nice v PSG this weekend. Don't want to post other games or watch their highlights, since i still want to watch Le mans v Auxerre later on lol

Rennes 0 - 2 Lyon
____________Juninho(Pen 5)
____________Ben Arfa(24)

Surprisingly easy win for lyon. I thought rennes would give them a hard game with Pagis,Wiltord and Leroy in attack. But pagis, leroy were both poor in this game, but wiltord really did work his socks off. Benzema was great as usual winning the penalty for the first goal with a great run, but the foul by hansen was outside the box tbh. Ben Arfa was great on the flanks and really showed us why people rate him as a higher talent than Nasri,Menez and Benzema. He scored a great goal by beating 3 players and then blasting the ball past Pouplin.

Rennes tried to change the game in the second half, but they had too much to do.

Nice______2 - 1 PSG
Laslandes(8)____N'Gog(31)
_____________Kone(37)

PSG's undefeated streak away from home this season has finally ended and with that it looks like they might have lost a lot of confidence. So they will now need to win games at the Parc des Princes. They had most of the possesion in this game, but were still not able to turn that into constant pressure. Rothen has become more consistent under le guen and he put in some great crosses on sunday. But diane failed to make contact with the ball and camara's header was wrongly ruled out for offisde.

Nice didn't have long periods of possesion in this game, but were able to tuck away the very few chances they got. With Laslandes scoring a good header after a great cross from former psg man helleybuyck(sp). PSG got back into the game with their bright new prospect N'Gog getting a goal with a great finish.

I thought that PSG would then take control of this game, obviously forgetting the great pace of kone upfront. Rothen dallied on the ball after his corner was cleared and he was dispossessed by Echofni who provided a great pass to kone who used his pace to get away from the 2 struggling PSG defenders and he then poked the ball past landreau.

PSG had a whole half to get back into the game, but they really couldn't change the game. Their only threat was from rothen on the left, since n'gog disappeared after his goal. They put on pauleta andluyindula, but they couldn't do anything either, since nice really put a lot of men back with only kone staying forward.

Default Ligue 1 : Week 16 Roundup

2 - 1
Yebda(59)__________________Gavanon(pen 9)
Gervinho(79)____________________

Nancy blew their game in hand against le mans. They are now 6 points behind lyon who don’t look like they will slip up.

Nancy got an early penalty and so sat back allowing le mans to mount pressure on them. It didn’t look like le mans would be able to score, but nancy’s goalkeeper bracigliano really helped le mans get back into this game. He was uncomfortable in goal and rushed out to collect crosses, corners when he had no chance of winning the ball. His error of misjudging a header from Yebda and deciding to parry the ball for the corner when his header was obviously going wide. From the resulting corner yebda had an open goal to head the ball into with bracigliano deciding to come out once again and missing the ball.

Le mans then caught nancy on the break with a great counter attack. Romaric with his great left football passed the ball down the left to matsui who produced a great cross to Gervinho who smashed the ball into the net.

Great win for le mans which sees them in 4th spot.

1 -1
Kluivert(27)____________Niang(31)

Lille in the first 30mins totally controlled this game. They attacked Marseille non stop with Makoun hitting a screamer which hit the post and then kluivert breaking in behind the defence and slotting the ball past the onrushing mandanda. But then it went all wrong with sylva showing his unreliability again by fumbling zianis shot and niang was there to punce. He is having a great season so far and is really making up for cisses terrible time at the club. This was his 8th goal in the French league.

Marseille then controlled the second half, but weren’t able to convert their chances. Arrache missed a shot from like 4 yards out, but sylva did make a great save.

Ziani’s return was a big boost, he really caused lille a lot of problems.

1-1
Saifi(75)_______________________Gomis(59)

St Etienne players refused to talk to the media, because of the unfair treatment they have been getting. But really come on ? What do they expect if they keep letting late goals in. In their last 4 games they have dropped the lead 3 times. The worst was letting lens get 3 goals back after they were already 2 up.

Today they dominated lorient, but they let in another late goal. Gomis gave them the lead with a great goal 25/30 yards from the box. Was a great goal tbh, he was one on one with the keeper, but decided to hammer it in from that far out.

The goal St Etienne conceded was a complete joke. Genton tried to play a ball over their defence and then 2 players collided lol. Saifi then coolly flicked the ball over Sall and then poked the ball past Janot.

This must be getting really hard for them and they need to fix this problem soon before it turns out worse. They have great quality in midfield with Perrin,Landrin(best cm partnership after lyon), but their defence is really terrible. Things could be worse if it wasn’t for Janot’s great saves.

0-1
__________________________Kahlenberg(54)

Metz fans seem to have given up on this side and I think that is a bit stupd. It was obvious that they were going to struggle this season and it doesn’t help with them putting up banners saying ‘We’d rather stay in the pub.’

If anything it lowers the metz players confidence even more. Especially, since they are playing a lot of youngsters this season. Though it doesn’t help when the chairman decides to leave the game after halftime.

This game was mostly controlled by auxerre who had tons of chances to finish this game. Marichez made some great saves, but wasn’t able to stop Kahlenberg’s drive at the edge of the box. Metz did create a few chances, but you can obviously see in their play that they have no confidence. They rely on mistakes from the opposing side or a player pulling off rare magic.

Metz are now 9 points from safety and it looks like they will probably play in ligue 2.

1-1
Koller(87)________________Laslandes(90)

Unbelievable that Monaco didn’t win this game. They had so many chances, but lloris(French u21 go) was immense in goal.

He made some great saves. He thwarted nene(former celta vigo player) twice with the first one being very impressive, nene taking a great volley from the edge of the box.

Nice were under constant attack, but nearly got a goal before halftime with Nice’s captain Echouafni
Headering the ball just wide after balmont’s great free kick.

Second half was the same with lloris being pounded with shots from everywhere. The most impressive was a save from the ex French big prospect meriem who’s shot was going for the top right hand corner. Though lloris will be disappointed with the goal he let in late in the game with him not getting a strong palm to kollers header which went past him.

It looked like all was lost for nice, but in the dieing mins of the game laslandes showed up with a great goal. An acrobatic finish just inside the box.

Monaco will be pissed with themselves for letting that late goal, but nice will be really happy. They now maintain their 5th spot in ligue 1.

0 -1
______________________Florentin(75)

PSG have yet to record a win at the Parc des Princes and it didn’t change today. They controlled this game and pinned back caen for the whole game. But then their brazilian lb ceara pulled of the dumbest mistake ever looool He was the last man for PSG and he tried to dribble pass florentin in true brazilian style lol, but he tripped under the ball and florentin had a clear run on goal and put a great finish pass Landreau.

PSG then tried to get back into the game with pauleta having their best chances. A free kick which plante saved comfortably and then a header at the edge of the box.

This loss just mounts more pressure on le guen, but he has said that he will be staying at this club despite the current situation they are in.

0 -2
_______________________________Dindane(21)
_______________________________Monterubbio(59)

Big loss for sochaux who will feel hard done by. They had so many chances in this game, but weren’t able to get in the net. They started the game well, playing at a very high pace and Quercia had their best chance with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but runje put his body behind the ball and was able to parry it away.

A couple mins late dindane got a goal for lens after a good cross from monterubbio. Controlling the ball in the box and then shooting pass Richert.

Sochaux then mounted a lot of pressure on lens. Isabey beat Runje with his shot in the box, but the lens captain Demont cleared the ball off the line. Lens absorbed the pressure and then caught sochaux on the break with dindane making a great run down the left. He then went pass 2 players and entered the box to set up monterubbio who put the ball into the net after a small deflection of sochaux’s defender pichot.

Sochaux stay in 19th position and are 4 points away from safety.

4-3
Wendel(7)__________________Elmander (pen 63,72,76)
Diarra(33)__________________
Wendel(39)_________________
Ducasse(87)_________________

I hate seeing games like this. It’s great watching it, but so harsh on Toulouse. They were ripped apart by Bordeaux in the first half with Wendel causing them a lot of trouble getting 2 goals, the second was a great goal with a powerful volley just outside the box.

3-0 at halftime and it looked like Toulouse were down and out. But elmander pulled off a great performance in the second half. Getting a hatrick in the space of 13mins. Though they were lucky with their first goal, Diawara actually won the ball in the box, but the ref decided to give Toulouse a penalty and that started the fight back. The Bordeaux backline couldn’t handle elmander and he scored 2 goals. A shot from close range and then a great header for his third.

Dieuze then foolishly got his second yellow of the game in the 80th minute or so and so Toulouse had to play with 10 men in the dieing stages of the game.

Ducasse then scored a great free kick from 30 yards and so Toulouse’s come back was for nothing. So harsh. But this game showed us that the caen 5-0 win against Bordeaux was no fluke, their defence is terrible and if Toulouse started this game with the hunger they had in the second half they could’ve pulled of a big win.

3-0
Savidan(12)_________________
Pujol(66,75)_________________

Comfortable win for Valenciennes. This is now their sixth win in eight home games, whilst rennes haven’t won a game, since October 21st.

Savidan opened the scoring with a deflected free kick which hit wiltord’s standing leg and went pass Pouplin who was going in the opposite direction. Valenciennes then had more chances with roudet crossing the ball around the on rushing pouplin and his cross went right across the face of the goal with no one there to tap into an open goal. Rennes only had one chance with Pagis shoot just going over the bar, but other than that they didn’t look a threat going forward.

Early into the second half mensah was given his second yellow of the game. So the task was even harder for rennes side which was already struggling with 11 men. Pujol scored Valenciennes second after going pass hansens feeble challenge and then placing it pass pouplin. Hansen really needs to go into challenges harder, last week he also let ben arfa go pass him to easily in the lead up to the youngsters goal.

Rennes manager Pierre Dreossi really disappointed me with his substitutions. He decided to take of Pagis for a borne who is a defender and that really pissed off Pagis who had an argument with him. Rennes were just trying to limit the damage, but pujol got his second off the game after pouplin fumbled sebo’s shot and pujol pounced to tap it in.

Rennes have great quality in their side, but they really have no confidence. They have no pace upfront except for briand who is being wasted on the flank. Pagis has great quality, but doesn’t have any pace, same with wiltord. Thomert has been really disappointing. Leroy is a wonderful player, but is really inconsistent and so rennes can’t really rely on him.

They really miss utaka upfront, but with the quality they currently have they should be doing a lot better. They are currently 7th in league and so their European hopes are still in sight, they just have to stop feeling sorry for themselves and show their quality.

5-0
Kallstrom(13)________________
Juninho(19)_________________
Benzema(65)________________
Clerc(78)____________________
Kallstrom(pen 81)_______________

Well we all expect an easy win for lyon in this game. Kallstrom opened the scoring after great play from both benezema and govou. Govou provided a nice cross to benzema who then holded up two players and slipped in kallstrom who dinked the ball sweetly over Cassard.

Juninho then scored from around 25 yards, but cassard really should’ve done better. That shot shouldn’t have beaten him, since it was on the side he was protecting. Though juninho had his range today, he came close again with cassard this type parrying the ball on his post. But the third free kick of his was crazy, it was a free kick on the right edge of the box and he just wacked the ball high in the air and it dipped so quick and hit the crossbar.

Benzema then got his 14th league goal of the season after kallstrom played him in and he shot through cassards legs. Baros then came on for benzema and then backheeled the ball to clerc in the box who then toe poked the ball in. Bellard then fouled govou in the box and kallstrom scored from the penalty, since juninho was taken off.

But their were major weaknesses in lyon’s backline. Their defence is weak and will get exposed by rangers. Strasbourgh got in behind their defence 2 times by just lofting the ball over the defence who were too high up.
