Veteran keeper Raymond van der Gouw is set to return between the sticks for RKC Waalwijk in the Friday night home match with FC Groningen.
The former Manchester United stopper, 40, has been called in as a replacement for Wilco de Vogt who has been ruled out for the rest of the season after being stretchered off with a knee injury in last week's 1-0 loss at FC Utrecht.
Coach Martin Jol will also be without striker Rick Hoogendorp who completes a three-match ban, but better news comes from defender Virgilio Teixeira who completed the full 90 minutes of a behind closed doors friendly against Vfl Osnabruck last week.
That match finished goalless, but Jol said : "It is a positive achievement that we kept a clean sheet."
Patrick van Diemen will undergo a late fitness check as he battles to overcome a light injury, and Iwan Redan is still sidelined with a hamstring strain.
Groningen boss Ron Jans also has injury and suspension problems ahead of the match.
Paul Matthijs sits it out after collecting five yellow cards, while Joey Hardarson (upper leg), Regillio Vrede (stomach muscle) and Martin Drent (calf) are all injured.
Groningen will prove stiff opposition after winning their last away match 3-2 at NEC - overturning a 2-0 deficit - and drew 3-3 in the game before that after trailing 3-0 against Feyenoord.
Jans said: "In the last four matches we scored 11 goals, but also got 11 goals against. We got more depth from the midfield.
"The midfielders come in to scoring positions more often. But it means that the midfielders also have less time to defend.
"That's the other side of the story, but I would rather win matches 2-3 than 0-1. We have to entertain the spectators."
