Barthez
How has Fabien Barthez done for Marseille. He never looked that amazing at Man Utd.
However you can guarentee that he always seems to play brillant for the national team ::hahaha::

l'OM eye Figo!!
Marseille are reported to have made an approach for Luis Figo.
l'OM endured a disappointing campaign last season, finishing outside the European spots in Ligue 1 meaning they have now entered the much-maligned InterToto Cup to try and secure a Uefa Cup place.
Having sacked Phillipe Troussier earlier this month, Marseille are wasting little time in identifying possible transfer targets - despite being coachless.
Marseille are selling Benoit Pedretti to champions Lyon and that could help fund a possible move for Figo - who looks set to leave Real Madrid this summer.
Lyon have moved for Pedretti who has a release clause in his contract which allows him to leave for €6 million.
Now the French international is set to depart after just one season at The Stade Velodrome.
"As soon as Lyon called Benoit, I told the Marseille officials, who gave me the agreement to start talks," Pedretti's agent Jean-Pierre Bernes explained.
"We are in discussion over a four-year contract.
"Benoit chose Marseille one year ago, hoping for Champions League qualification. Lyon offers him that possibility and of course it is an attractive proposition."
Marseille are also closing in on Sochaux star Wilson Oruma and expect to seal his arrival in the next few days.

Marseille 2-1 Bolton (agg: 2-1)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...pe/4731542.stm
Quote:
Tal Ben Haim's own goal brought Bolton's first European adventure to an end as Marseille snatched a place in the last 16 of the Uefa Cup.
Greek midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos gave Wanders the lead after former Manchester United keeper Fabien Barthez had dropped a Jay-Jay Okocha cross.
Franck Ribery headed an equaliser on the stroke of half-time to give the French side hope.
And the Trotters were sunk when Ben Haim turned a cross into his own net.
After a goalless draw at the Reebok Stadium, Bolton's quest for a place in the last 16 looked like a tough one but that did not stop them taking the game to their opponents in the opening stages.
The French fans who had assembled at the Stade Velodrome expecting a comfortable passage for their team were stung by Barthez's error, which arrived in the 26th minute.
Okocha's cross did swing out at the far post after tempting the keeper off his line but there was still no excuse for his eyes leaving the ball.
It slipped from his grasp and fell conveniently for Giannakopoulos who performed the simplest of finishers to give Wanderers a vital away goal.
The Greek midfielder did not quite catch a volley cleanly enough when presented with a good opportunity shortly afterwards and, as Abdoulaye Faye's effort was ruled out for offside, there seemed little to trouble the visitors.
However, they were unable to see the game out until half-time and gave their opponents half a chance when they conceded in first-half injury-time.
Samir Nasri pounced on a mistake by Bruno N'Gotty and hit a cross to the far post where the impressive Franck Ribery managed to nip between two defenders and plant a header into the corner.
Spurred on by their vociferous followers, Marseille pressed and it was no surprise they had the lion's share of the second period.
However, they needed a bit of good fortune to put themselves into the driving seat.
Habib Beye managed to take the ball away from Giannakopoulos's attentions and hit a wicked cross from the right and Ben Haim was only able to guide it past his own goalkeeper.
Henrik Pedersen leaving the field on a stretcher in the closing stages confirmed a miserable evening for Sam Allardyce's side.

From what I saw of this game the ref was shit. Could of gone either way but as I don't like Bolton I'm not bothered that Bolton were a bit unlucky.
BTW why is that guy that used to present RI:SE presenting the football on five?

He does a lot of American football work for them and they thought he would be better than John Barnes (which he is) as a presenter.

That is like saying I can see better than Stevie Wonder. John Barnes is hardly a yardstick for skilled sports presenters.

Colin Murray isn't bad.
Actually I think 5's coverage isn't too bad...it's certainly not as pretentious as the BBC or as tabloidy as Skysports and is easily better than the WOEFUL Itv coverage.
Simple, readable graphics....backstage access...John Barnes is actually pretty good as a roving reporter and Pat Nevin is a decent analyst.
The commentators are a bit poor...the main guy's northern accent is incredibly wet and you get the feeling that the fact he has one arm helped him get the job.

Things are going real bad for Marseilles with a shocking home lost to Lorient...It's only a few weeks away from firing their coach...

They are sinking faster then a rock...This team is so one dimensional that it's not funny...They have playmakers in the starting lineup Ribery and Nasri. Their defense looks pretty weak and they fall apart under pressure..Lyon really dismantle Marseilles and really destroy their self belief...Losing to Nice and Lorient after the disaster against Lyon...
