Cisse near to first-team comeback
Quote:
France striker Djibril Cisse is planning to return to first-team action in the next week or so after recovering from a broken right leg.
Cisse, who is on loan at Marseille from Liverpool, suffered the injury while playing for France against China in a World Cup warm-up game in June.
The 25-year-old told France Football: "I should be back into competitive football by mid-November."
Cisse also broke his left leg when playing for the Reds in October 2004.
He has taken about five months to recover from the injury on both occasions and predicted it will not be long before he gets back to full fitness.
"I want to bring Marseille back as high as possible even if I've missed the beginning of the season," added Cisse. "I know that I'm going to be back to my best.
"After my first injury, it took me one month to get back on top. It should be the same this time."
Cisse finished top scorer in Ligue 1 in 2002 and 2004 and Marseille will be hoping he can match those exploits to help them regain some form after three defeats.
"I have to bring some panache, try things people will not always understand," said Cisse.

I'm looking forward to it and I hope he will succeed in Marseille.

L'OM rule out Ribery exit
Quote:
Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has ruled out selling Franck Ribery in the January transfer window.
Ribery's future at Marseille has been the subject of intense speculation for the last few months with a number of top clubs vying for his signature.
Arsenal have been strongly linked with the French international, but Diouf insists he will not let their star player leave when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
"We are full of consideration for Franck Ribery both as a man and a player, but he is part of the group, and we have the same consideration for any player," Diouf told L'Equipe.
"There will be no favour for Ribery, and he is award of it."
Diouf admitted Marseille could make a move in January for a new defender to bolster their ranks.
"We have not taken any decision yet on the winter transfer window," added Diouf.
"We have to be realistic. You can't find a great central defender so easily.
"Either he is a regular first-team member at his club or he is very expensive.
"With the departure of Sabri Lamouchi, there is a financial gap, which we could fill. If there is an opportunity, we will think about it."

Bayern were after him, but I don't think he would impress outisde France, where he faces tight marking.

Ribery is a great player and have unbelievable skills and spped, but he's being used the wrong way at Marseilles. The team is built around Ribery and they are expecting to much from him. He would do better going to another club where he can blossom.

This Marseilles team is in some deep trouble. The team lacks interest and need a real leader to stepup and lead this club. Marseilles should open their wallet and try to get Zindane to coach this club as a player coach. He could help this underachieving club to reach the champions league.

Ribery sidelined for Marseille until new year
MARSEILLE, France, Nov 18 (Reuters) - Franck Ribery, who shone for runners-up France at the World Cup in Germany, will be out of action until the new year with a groin injury.
'It is very important to treat the injury well. I am very disappointed and do not know exactly how long I will be sidelined,' the Olympique Marseille midfielder told reporters.
'Apparently, it will be until after the winter break (Dec. 23-Jan. 6).'
Ribery said he felt pain for the first time the day after Lyon thrashed Marseille 4-1 in Ligue 1 three weeks ago.
'I did not have enough time to rest (after the World Cup ended in July),' he added.

Marseilles is in some deep trouble. Their defense are full with holes and their offense have stall...Ribery is the heart of their team and without him they will dropped down the table.

Things don't get any better for Marseilles..It seems as if someone let the air out of the balloon after the Lyon match.Sochaux are a tough team and I won't be surprise to see them take all 3 points..One thing about Marseille they are fun to watch.

It seems as if things are going from bad to worst for Marseilles because their other playmaker Nasri looks as if he took a real bad knock towards the end of the game..

Marseille are in some deep trouble having to travel to Nancy. Nancy are very impressive at home and played a real tough match at Blackburn, a game they should have won..Nancy will take all three points with a 2-1 victory.
