Default PSG Make Yakin Bid

Paris St Germain have made a bid for FC Basel's Swiss international midfielder Hakan Yakin, the Swiss side said on Sunday.

PSG are looking for a replacement for Brazilian Ronaldinho who moved to Barcelona last weekend.

'We received a concrete offer via fax for Hakan Yakin from Paris St Germain,' a Basel spokesman said. 'We confirmed that in a telephone call to the PSG president.

'On Monday we will make a decision on the offer. Until then Hakan Yakin will remain a Basel player.'

Thumbs down Paris Saint Germain

Quote:
Marseille send B team to Paris over safety fears

Olympique Marseille chairman Pape Diouf has confirmed the club is sending their B team to Paris to face arch-rivals Paris St Germain at Parc des Princes on Sunday.

Diouf, who also asked the Marseille supporters not to travel to the capital, said he feared someone could be killed.

"Marseille's first team will not go to Paris," Diouf told French television channel TF1 on Sunday. "You don't play with peoples' lives."

The former European champions have accused PSG of refusing to sell them the promised number of tickets and of seating Marseille fans just underneath PSG supporters.

"You can't wait for a man or a child to get killed," Diouf said. "The game of football means nothing when lives are at stake."

The president of the French Professional Football League (LFP), Frederic Thiriez, had urged Marseille to send their best team to Paris, saying every possible measure had been taken to guarantee maximum safety.

Of the 16 players selected by Marseille, only seven are members of the professional team and none of them are regular first-choice players.

The nine others normally play for Marseille's amateur team in the equivalent of the fifth division.

INCREASED MEASURES

PSG announced on Saturday increased security measures in an effort to calm the visitors' fears.

Seven rows of seats will be left empty to separate the Paris and the Marseille fans and more security personnel will be posted in the stands, the club said.

Sunday's game, which was due to kick off at 2000 GMT, has been brought forward four hours to help security forces.

The 48,000 spectators will be searched and some 1,200 policemen will be deployed around the stadium whose surroundings will be open only to ticket-holders.

Matches between PSG and OM are always regarded as high risk. Security will be particularly tight after rival groups of PSG supporters fought each other and ransacked a motorway service station on their way back from a match last weekend.

A Marseille supporter was paralysed after being hit by a seat thrown by PSG hooligans during a game between the two rivals at Parc des Princes in 2002.

"Those who love football are tired of the deplorable show those two teams offer every time they meet," a furious Thiriez said on Saturday.

"That's enough".

Pauleta is having a Great Year. To bad he stinks with the NT, I can't believe this Guy plays with more heart For PSG then For Portugal.

He is still Our leading Scorer which I'm GrateFul but when we needed him the Most he didn't show up.

Btw, Did you know there is a school in Cali called PSG.
