PSG Finally Make Transfer Headway

Quote:
After weeks of negotiations and rejections, PSG have finally made some headway in the transfer market this summer. Stephane Sèssegnon and Marko Basa are likely to join from Le Mans according to reports in Paris daily, Le Parisien…

Linked with almost an innumerable string of names this summer, it is somewhat ironic that PSG's first signings will likely be a pair that flew largely under the radar of the media. Le Mans duo Sèssegnon and Basa are likely to join on at the Parc des Princes in the coming days, at least according to Le Parisien.

Assuming that this double-move was to progress without a hitch then the twosome would provide a solid backbone that Paul Le Guen could build his side around next term. Basa is a rugged centre-back while Sèssegnon is a tenacious central midfielder that also possesses notable attacking attributes.

Details on Basa's transfer appear to be the more concrete. The Serbian centre-back has agreed terms in Paris that will equate to a four year deal. President of PSG Charles Villeneuve is said to have met his Le Mans counter-part, Henri Legarda, on Friday morning to agree a transfer fee of around €8 million.

Sèssegnon will command a fee a little greater than his defensive team-mate, although he is also thought to have signed a four year contract.

Meanwhile PSG's pursuit of Jimmy Briand gathers pace. France Football reports that young Rennes forward remains on strike from his side's Carnac training ground claiming he feels “betrayed”.

“He [Pierre Dréossi, Rennes general manager] looked me in the eyes and said that there would be an open the door at the end of the season if he received a good offer. Today he told me that the door is closed. I will not accept it,” Briand raged to l'Equipe.

Guillaume Hoarau has already joined the Parc des Princes side while Lillian Thuram awaits tests results on his heart problem that will reveal if he can continue playing.

Paris St Germain star Ludovic Giuly feels he and fellow new boy Claude Makelele still have room for improvement as they prepare for Saturday’s visit of Grenoble to the Parc des Princes.
