not all the cities can be blame,

if Beira-Mar had the Leiria team they would average around 10,000 fans, same would go for Academica, Leixoes, Guimaraes etc

Leiria just not a Soccer town, also they are a very young soccer city

thats probbaly the problem, since the club is only 40 years old
the people of Leiria are probably mostly Benfica/Sporting/Porto fans.

I noticed when they play a Grande, their attentance is higher but barely any leiria fans.

The real problem with town like Liera is the price of football tickets and a lack of competition outside the top 3 teams..It's sad to watch games in the super liga and see a team like Belenenses only drawing a few thousand for a match. They could't even sell out their stadium when they play teams like Benfica, Sporting, and Porto. The attendence issue needs to be address.

but most follow other sports, like swimming, Tennis, raguebi, Team Handball

U Leiria management are not looking in the transfer market, with the exception of a forward
but decide to look at the player capabilities, and if he pass's he can be a good investment for the club

last american not to make the portuguese, the fast furious and physical game was Kenny Cooper on loan from Manchester United to Academica, he knows plays for FC Dallas and last week had his first cap with the USA national team.

I'm hoping he can make it and open the door for other americans in the portuguese top leagues.

I will have to find out more about the University and curriculum
