HELTON. O guarda-redes brasileiro pegou de estaca no FC Porto, conseguindo fazer esquecer um nome tão importante no clube como Vítor Baía. Destemido, seguro e veloz como um felino, sofreu apenas 8 golos nesta primeira volta e a eficácia defensiva dos líderes da Liga deve muito às suas actuações.

LUÍS FILIPE. Faz parte do clube restrito dos jogadores que participaram na totalidade dos encontros disputados nesta 1.ª volta, completando 1.350 minutos de jogo. Lateral-direito experiente, tem sido um dos esteios defensivos do Sp. Braga, subindo muito a propósito ao ataque, o que já lhe valeu um golo, aquele que deu a vitória (2-1) sobre o FC Porto.

PEPE. É, sem dúvida, uma das figuras da primeira volta. Em boa forma física, o defesa brasileiro naturalizado português tem sido praticamente intransponível para os adversários, contribuindo para que a defesa portista seja a menos batida da prova. Mas se sabe evitar golos, também sabe marcá-los, o que conseguiu por três vezes esta época.

TONEL. Tem sido o elemento com maior preponderância na defesa do Sporting, superando o campeão mundial Polga em importância estratégica. As boas exibições na Liga valeram-lhe, aliás, uma chamada à Selecção (jogo com Cazaquistão). Marcou 1 golo ao Aves e outro, este decisivo, ao Estrela da Amadora.

RODRIGO ALVIM. O defesa-esquerdo brasileiro tem sido uma agradável surpresa nesta Liga. Chegado esta época ao Belenenses, desde logo se impôs na equipa de Jorge Jesus. De boa compleição física, dá poucos espaços aos adversários e sabe sair com a bola nos pés. Também já marcou um golo, fazendo o único dos lisboetas na derrota com o Nacional (1-2).

JOÃO MOUTINHO. O seu processo de maturação foi rápido ou não fosse o elemento central da estratégia de Paulo Bento. O incansável jogador actua a qualquer posição no centro do terreno e é tão bom nas manobras defensivas como nas atacantes. O jovem médio não sabe jogar mal e, esta época, só lhe falta marcar golos na Liga.

LUCHO. O argentino é, sem dúvida, um fora-de-série e tem-no provado jornada a jornada. Joga e faz jogar, cria espaços tão facilmente como os descobre e ainda marca golos (5). Por tudo isso, tem-se destacado nas nossas análises.

ZÉ PEDRO. Beneficiado por esta equipa não incluir um trinco (Paulo Sousa, do P. Ferreira, tem mais pontos do que ele), merece, contudo, estar aqui. Esta parece ser a sua época de afirmação, tendo já apontado 6 golos no Belenenses, o que o coloca no terceiro lugar na lista dos melhores marcadores.

SIMÃO. Já fez de extremo, mas agora tem funções de organizador do ataque benfiquista. E destaca-se numa ou noutra posição. A sua influência decisiva no Benfica vale-lhe ser o jogador mais pontuado da nossa lista. É o melhor marcador da equipa (fez 6 golos).

QUARESMA. As exibições do extremo portista são um deleite para os olhos. Os passes de trivela são a sua imagem de marca e deles têm saído inúmeros golos para os companheiros de equipa. Mas o Mustang também marca e já apontou 6 tentos esta época, mais um do que na temporada anterior.

POSTIGA. Recuperou esta época as qualidades que sempre lhe foram reconhecidas, ao regressar aos golos com a frequência que se pede a um ponta-de-lança. Por isso termina a primeira volta da Liga como líder dos melhores marcadores, com 10 golos, mais 3 do que o austríaco Linz, do Boavista.
