Benfica wins youth tournament -5-4-vs Sporting

Benfica wins the 15th edition of the Ponte Frielas Youth tournament for U 13, in front of a sellout crowd of 3,000 fans
final score was 6-5
at the end of regulation was 1-1
Carnival in Portugal - its time for youth tournaments and this beside the national teams had the best teams from Portugal
the tournament got the name of ex Benfica and portuguese international Nene Tamagini

O Benfica conquistou, ontem, a 15.ª edição do Torneio Internacional de Futebol Infantil – Nené Tamagnini, organizado pelo Ponte de Frielas, depois de vencer o Sporting por 5-4, no desempate por grandes penalidades. No final do tempo regulamentar, as equipas estavam empatadas a um golo.

Perante a presença de 3 mil espectadores, o Sporting apresentou um futebol mais ligado entre os sectores, o que lhe permitiu ser forte no ataque. No entanto, o Benfica nunca desistiu de lutar e venceu com dignidade, até porque foi mais feliz nos penáltis. Ricardo Horta concretizou o remate que valeu aos encarnados ganhar o primeiro combate com o Sporting no jogo decisivo desta histórica competição.

Em 3.º lugar, ficou o Bétis após bater o Huelva por 3-2, enquanto FC Porto e Belenenses terminaram na 5.ª e 7.ª posições, ao vencerem Boavista (1-0) e Ponte de Frielas (3-1), respectivamente.

Esta prova serviu, também, para a recolha e entrega de peças de vestuário destinadas ao Centro do Tojal.

Após a final, foram entregues os seguintes prémios: Nuno Ribeiro (P. Frielas), Jogador Mais Jovem; Cláudio Sumbane, Melhor Jogador do P. Frielas; Jose Figueroa (Bétis), Melhor Guarda-Redes, entregue por António Martins, jornalista de Record;João Pinto (Sporting), Melhor Marcador, entregue por Nené; Bernardo Silva (Benfica), Melhor Jogador; Melhor Defesa, Benfica; Melhor Ataque, Sporting.
