Wigan Athletic defender Nicky Eaden has agreed to join Nottingham Forest on a two-year deal.

The former Barnsley full back played regularly last season for the Premiership new boys, but has now headed for the exit door at The JJB stadium.

Forest boss Gary Megson is looking to assemble a squad capable of mounting a promotion push and will regard the 32-year-old's signature as a real coup, considering the player's experience.

Another player linked with a move away from Wigan is Ian Breckin, with Sheffield United keen on the powerful central defender.

Breckin has proven an astute piece of business since joining The Latics from Chesterfield, but is now being linked with a £300,000 switch to Bramall Lane.

Blades chief Neil Warnock is a known admirer and if he does succeed in landing Breckin, then Forest are tipped to make a move for Chris Morgan.

Megson is thought to be keen to improve his defensive ranks and could well see the experienced United stopper as the ideal candidate to marshall his backline next season.

I reckon so, first choice for the best team in Div 1 last year.
i like what meggo is doing, ok so they aint young signings, but:
Nicky Southall, premiership experiance with Bolton and has been promoted from this league before.
Gary Holt, premiership experiance and was a regualar in the premiership last year with Naarwich.
Nicky Eaden, been promoted from this league before, and was promoted to the premiership last year with wigan, in my opinion the best side in the league last year.

Ok, so non of them a the right side of 30, but we can look to the future later, right now its the here and now that counts.
