Canaries eye EX Arsenal Defender
Norwich City have been linked with a move for championship-winning Arsenal defender Martin Keown.
The 37-year-old ex-England international left Highbury in a blaze of glory last weekend, as the Gunners finished off their season unbeaten.
And now, according to the People newspaper, Keown could be heading for Carrow Road on a one-year contract to help City's first Premiership campaign after nine seasons in the wilderness.
The paper says Keown has been approached by Canaries boss Nigel Worthington, who wants his experience to see City through what could be a difficult season back in the top flight.
Keown - granted a testimonial match in which City keeper Robert Green played last Monday - believes he has one more Premiership season left in him, although the stumbling block could be geographical: Keown and his family are settled in Oxford and he wants to stay in the area.
If City are in the hunt for Keown - and they have been linked with numerous players since clinching the First Division championship – they could face a fight with a number of other clubs, including Everton and relegated Wolves.
The Canaries have dismissed most of the speculation that has followed their promotion, although Worthington has publicly admitted approaching Arsenal for a player at the other end of the age scale, 19-year-old David Bentley. However, reports suggested that the teenager could be headed to a season-long loan at West Ham - if Alan Pardew's team beat Crystal Palace in the First Division play-off final next weekend.
It is also reported that Bolton's Danish midfielder Per Frandsen, released by Sam Allardyce on a free last week, is in talks with the Canaries.
One area Worthington definitely needs to address is cover for first choice goalkeeper Green, with reports from Scotland suggesting an interest in Scotland's Paul Gallacher.
Newspaper reports north of the border claim Gallacher is ready to quit Dundee United for the Premiership.
The Canaries are searching for experienced cover for Green after releasing reserve goalkeeper Paul Crichton at the end of the season.
Gallacher played with City duo Malky Mackay and Gary Holt in Scotland's 1-0 defeat by Denmark in Copenhagen last month, when the 'keeper won his fifth cap.
He was dropped when Ian McCall took over as Dundee United manager in January 2003 and left out again at the start of the season just finished. On each occasion he showed character to battle back and regain his first-team place.
With Rab Douglas sidelined at Celtic and David Marshall still a rookie, the door was open for Gallacher to make the Scotland jersey his own for the World Cup qualifiers by playing each week for United.
McCall was anxious to keep him but, forced to slash £1million from his budget, it is understood he couldn't offer him a package attractive enough.
